- Renowned for his exquisitely photographed land- and cityscapes, Peter Hutton's latest film is an epic story of the birth, life, and death of the modern container ship. Shot over a period of three years, At Sea opens on a hyper-modern South Korean shipyard, where supertankers loom over the workers who build them, then journeys through the swells and storms of the North Atlantic, and closes on a maritime grave in Bangladesh where ship breakers scrap the beached leviathans piece by piece under medieval conditions. Beautifully shot and keenly observed, Hutton's film showcases the environmental and human dramas that play out in the life cycle of this invisible engine of globalization and modern-day Noah's Ark. -conversationsattheedge.org/

For something that sounds so mundane on paper, this is incredibly mesmerizing and hypnotic.
the best work ever filmed in Korea
without doubt
Thanks for sharing this beautiful movie.
RIP Peter Hutton (at least, we'll always have his films).
I was very sad to discover the he had died. I had the great pleasure to meet Peter in Ithaca NY in 2008 or 9. He was working on these pieces then.
RUclips be recommending the most niche stuff I swear
Apparently there isn't supposed to be any sound (Google it), but personally I would have mentioned this in the description 😊
Les plus grands bâtiments meurent aussi. Merci pour ce cycle silencieux.
amazing film, thank you
Amazing.
Obrigado!
A lot of these shots have a slight leftward tilt. Is that in the original, or only in the video transfer?
kiitos
Maravilla.
Pessoa?
Beautiful images, but wish I were able to see this in higher resolution. Are there DVDs of his films?
Whilst not HD by any stretch, a better quality version has been uploaded here: ruclips.net/video/oCNoE4-wceg/видео.html
I love when they ask for sound, they need things to be in placed. They simply cant enjoy an avant garde film with no sound. Zero patience. I love that. Some of us love that a lot.
That is unfortunate one of my problems. Patience.
for me the problem with this is bad video quality. would like to see it in cinema, blu-ray or better quality
You seem like you don't trust the film to be any good but also really desperate to like it, otherwise you wouldn't need to sound so condescending when expressing your frustration with people's impatience. Shouldn't you be upset that people are missing out instead of enjoying that people are missing out?
That being said it's a fantastic film, and I understand the frustration that people's main reservation being no sound is rather ridiculous
Lmao shut up. You sound so pretentious douche.

No sound
RIP to the GOD

What am I in the third grade again? No sound?
it is unbearably sad that your teacher deprived you of sound in the third grade.
No sound at all!
Yes, that's meant to be; all of Hutton's films are meant to be viewed in complete silence. I don't know if it works as well on RUclips, but if you're lucky enough to see his films in theaters, it's transfixing.
outdoorcats thanks, now i know.
