Totally agree! Reacher is one of my favorite fictional characters. I am not a fan of violent action but there is something deeply satisfying about this guy. As an 82-year-old little old lady, I love that he wins against overwhelming odds, every time. i guess we as his fans are living vicariously through him, as he eviscerates the bad guys. The TV series definitely cast the right actor as Reacher and like you, I miss Malcom from Season 1. Even though I have seen criticisms of Lee Child's writing, I say Kudos for creating a compelling character.

I haven't seen the show nor read the books, but I do like your "superhero" analogy. Even in superhero films the characters are usually presented two dimensionally. One of my biggest issues with the way Batman is presented in films is that it's either about his tech or his skills. In the comics he is the greatest detective in the world and that is never truly showcased.
