My first contact with tengus was the "47 Ronin" movie with Keanu Reeves. I didn't knows there was actually a real world institution that inspired this folklore fiction. Would this be something similar to the Shaolin temple in China? Since Suzuka is from Hiroshima and we all know what happened there, and their world turned to black and white in an instance. The burning celluloid, the devastated landscape, the umbrella (protection from the radioactive debris) for me are definitely nuclear explosion's indicators, also . The town and the people survived the Ragnarok and bloomed into colors, like Suzuka, who now in her turn, from her monochrome world is painting ours with her voice. This is how I like to conceive this particular song. I’m on Episode 8, and I immediately recognize Kube’s dad as….Nagata from Spielberg’s Empire Of The Sun, the Japanese officer with the most interaction with Jim (Christian Bale). He hadn’t aged that much. If you saw that movie, you would immediately recognize him 😊

I don't know how I've been subbed and watched so many of your videos for years now AJ and didn't know until today that you had written (now) 3 books with Tom Delonge, whom I've always sort of loosely followed both for his Blink 182 career (I was a teen when their music videos were all the rage on MTV) and his UFO/UAP passion. Mind is kind of blown ngl. Those are two worlds I had never even imagined could co-exist for almost 10 years now and I had no idea :D. For me Prof AJ Hartley was my go-to when I wanted a deep dive into BABYMETAL lyrics with a smile on the face during a reaction. If you'll remember, I was in your "Thank You BABYMETAL" hiatus video as well. Ah well, enjoyed this interview, might look into these books then! Take care Prof ;)

You know... I wondered if you would add some dried squid arms for Moametal, just as mentioned in the Uki Uki Midnight lyrics (from interviews, we know based on real life events from the girls at the time).

You might have specifically mentioned the hawk whistle/ magpie sequence - I thought you would when describing the underlying philosophy of the protagonists. It looks so beautiful and peaceful. Recently I visited the Japanese gardens in Cowra, NSW, Australia. These gardens are widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Edo period designed gardens outside of Japan. Nearby, there is the only official Japanese war cemetery outside of Japan, where almost 300 Japanese soldiers are laid to rest, most of these men perished in a failed mass escape from the POW camp that was located in Cowra.

Did you say "northwest"? You're in northeast Kyoto. (Just noticed you corrected that.) Behind you is a depiction of Bodhidharma-known as "Bodai Daruma" or "Daruma Daishi" or simply "Daruma" in Japan. Maybe best known to Westerners in the Daruma Doll form. He is credited with bringing Chan Buddhism to China. Japanese Zen is derived from Chan Buddhism, and Enkō-ji is a temple of Rinzai Zen.

I don’t know how to say this. In last time in Japan I went to a few temples as I appreciate them and the culture. I definitely appreciate the morality as a Christian. In short, we are not so different if you open your heart. This is just my two cents as a combat veteran.

My wife says that I need to be making these, starting yesterday! They look so very good...and the recipes shall be partaken of soon, I feel! Glad that Koba shared the recipe with you (wink, wink)...
