    Thanks for saving us a trip to the repair shop, and a two-week wait before it could be seen. Turns out when we cleaned the dust container, we neglected to replace the Pre-filter. It was in the utility room, where we'd left it!
    Put it back on the vacuum, and good to go!
    Much appreciated.

    Impressive filtering capability, it was good to see how well it kept the interior and the lifetime hepa filter clean. It's amazing how a simple maintenance task like cleaning the easily accessible secondary filter every 6 months is a show stopper for some people. Maybe an external 'clean filter' indicator could have helped.
    I liked your presentation and content, good video.

    Love your videos and how well you explain your topics. I bought a second fine dirt filter cartridge for mine, so when it's time to clean it, I just swap it out and then do a deep clean on filter and let it dry properly. Next time it's time to clean it again, then swap them back. I just keep alternating them, and never have to worry about being without my vacuum because the filter is wet and having to wait for it to dry, second cartridge wasn't that expensive, and I was able to order it directly from Miele-USA.

    Excellent video. I never knew that the filter existed and found that it was in a similar state to the one in this video. Hoover now works as it should, without the frequent noises it had previously made as it gave up every few minutes

      @@HouseOfVacuums I was a janitor for 27 years & I used all kinds of vacuum cleaners (including bagless). Yes, bags cost money but the fine talc like dust always finds a way through & fouls everything up when using a bagless machine. In short, the savings coming from not having to buy bags just isn't worth it. Bagged vacuums are just cleaner.

    I’m so glad that on the new Boost, the hepa exhaust filter is replaceable whereas on the Blizzard, only the gore filter is replaceable. I guess what I should say is that the hepa filter can be replaced on it, but it’s not cost efficient to do so and isn’t designed to be replaced, unfortunately.

    I just don’t have a build up of dust around my Blizzard’s dust bin, but I also blow the dust bin off after I empty it. I don’t understand why people buy bagless vacs and don’t maintain them. They need to keep the seals clean and blow the dust bin off inside and out after each time emptying it. They also need to wash the gore filter every 2-4 weeks.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Год назад +1

      Yes, the filter is meant to be washed and it will be fine as long as you use a degreaser that doesn't leave a sticky film (something like Simple Green undiluted). That being said, any filter will only last through so many washings before needing replaced. When your current filter no long starts to come clean or starts looking frayed, it will be time for a replacement. Hope that helps!

  • @Cleaning_Hero
    @Cleaning_Hero Год назад +1

    How did you get that filter so clean? What tool or material did you use to scrub it? How long? Did you soak it in pure degreaser or was it a dilution? Was it hot? How long did you soak it? I am cleaning mine out after watching this video. I am soaking it in a gallon of warm water with a cup of Dawn Heavy-Duty Degreaser Spray (the purple stuff, not the dish soap). I have soaked it for an hour and it still isn’t coming out clean like this one’s filter did. What am I doing wrong? Btw, it wasn’t nearly as dirty as this was. I keep mine rinsed / blown out every few weeks.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Год назад +2

      Hey Connor, I pretreated it with undiluted Member's Mark degreaser (purple formula) and then soaked it in a diluted bath of the same. I also scrubbed each pleat with a small chip brush (paint brush).
      It's a commercial strength degreaser, so I would use gloves, but it works better than anything else I have used. Cheers!

    Good vid and soaking the canister filter was ok? as some say just brush or just rinse it under running water. I’ve got mine apart now so I’ll probably give it some serious dunking if it’s ok? • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  2 года назад +2

      Yes, soaking it is completely fine. The filter media is gortex, so it won't damage it.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  Год назад +2

      Hi Nick, thanks for the question! So the Blizzard will do fine with the dog hair as long as you stay on top of the filters. It will require pretty regular maintenance and not everyone wants to deal with it, but that is purely an individual decision.
      I will say this, the new polypropylene bags from Miele and Sebo are really incredible for airflow. You can essentially fill them up into little bricks of dirt before needing to change them, unlike the old paper bags that would quickly decrease performance.
      I have a Sebo E3 upstairs and a Miele C3 Brilliant downstairs. In a home with 2 dogs and 3 kids I go through about a bag every 2 months on each of them. So if you were cleaning an average sized home, I would say about a bag per month would be average. For me the benefits outweigh the costs, but that may not be true for everyone.
      I did a video about this subject with pet hair. If you check out my Bagged Vs Bagless video in my Sebo playlist. It might help with your decision.
      Cheers!

      Hey house plants! I haven't sold a lot of them, but I have sold a few. I really just special order them now. The primary market I noticed was bagless users looking for a high-end machine. Prior to the Blizzard there wasn't really an option unless you consider Dyson "high end". I did sell one to a lady who cleans houses and has a few bagged Mieles. She returned it and it's currently in line to be refurbed. She didn't realize that the maintenance would be so intensive (although we told her) and went back to bags!

      The more you clean the filter, the better the machine will run. I would clean it every 2 weeks in a dusty environment and every 4 in a milder space. I think the question really is: how much work do you want to put into maintaining it? If you don't mind spending the time, this vacuum will work great if you maintain it. However, if you want to "use and forget it", I would be looking at one of Miele or Sebo's bagged units. Replace the bag every 2-3 months and you are golden. Just something to think about.

    Question: does a vacuum have to be heavy (especially over the brush) to do a good job? I like seeing my vacuum lines on my mid length carpet. I currently have a 5 year old Shark Apex Duo Clean AX950. It’s heavy! I am researching vacuums just in case it dies. What are your suggestions?

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  2 года назад +3

      Hi there! Nozzles don't need to be heavy to work properly. Most of the time it comes down to the stiffness of the bristles on the brushroll, the RPMs of the brushroll, having the correct height setting and having good design geometry (the angle at which the nozzle interacts with the carpet).
      The perfect example is actually canister power nozzles. They are much less heavy than an upright, but will clean as well as if not better than uprights (there are, of course, poorly design power nozzles out there as well).
      One of the things that makes Sharks feel particularly heavy in use is the location of the main vacuum motor. It is relatively high up on the machine, meaning that your handle weight is higher than average as well as the rotational force you need to steady it from rolling side to side (the swivel head feature).
      There are some really good options with lower motor centers of gravity and great grooming. If you are looking specifically for an upright, I would recommend either the Sebo G4, X4 Boost or X7. For a more budget oriented model, the Simplicity S20EZM/Titan T3200 are good choices.
      My preference has always been for canisters. For a great grooming canister that is WAY lighter in operation than an upright, I would recommend starting with either the Sebo K3, E3 or Miele Classic C1 HomeCare.
      I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Wouldn’t that be necessary in case of warranty work if needed? There is a retailer close (which happens to be House of Vacuums, too!) that carry Riccar vacuums. What do you think of Riccar?

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  2 года назад +3

      Thanks for the clarification, Danette! Sebo is certainly my go-to and while you could always send it back to them for warranty work, that is sub-optimal. Riccar is a great brand as well. I would put them just a tier below Sebo, but very good nonetheless. If you are looking for an upright, I would suggest the R25 for something that is mid-tier... they are very good values for the money. I would probably point you to the R25P since it comes with a 5 year warranty. Riccar's specialty is uprights, so while they make canisters I would still point you to Sebo or Miele in that category.
      I hope that helps!

      @@Danette2007 I have a Sebo X4 Boost like he recommended. It is an upright. It’s very simple but is rather light weight. I wish it had manual carpet height adjustment, but as long as I can bend over and push the Boost mode button, it lowers father into the carpet and cleans deeper. It doesn’t seem to make contact with the carpet without boost mode enabled, but Sebo does make uprights with manual carpet height adjustment. I vote Miele C3 for canister. I do have a Sebo E3 canister but the hose isn’t as user friendly, although it is built very well and simple to operate.

That one is another filter (called filter frame) that is built inside the dust bag and seems to have a latch at its bottom but I'm afraid it will break if I try pressing to release it. I definitely agree with you, I would prefer that as well. I think for Miele it is a matter of sunk costs, because they actually own their own factory in China. So their manufacturing there is not contracted out but rather strictly controlled by the offices in Germany.

    I actually used this to determine whether to get a 2nd bagged or a first bagless miele, and this thing is a piece of shit compared to the bagged. The bagged machines have a much more efficient internal layout with little wasted space, and obviously will last much longer without either professional service or core component replacement. I imagine this was somewhat intentional, I am sure the bags bring them and their dealers a pretty penny.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, it definitely doesn't hold a candle to any of their bagged machines. I'm not sure what Miele's sales numbers look like on bags, but I can tell you from a dealers perspective that they are not a major incentive to sell bagged vacuums. If I had to rely on those bag and filter residual sales I would be out of business... it's not quite as lucrative as is commonly thought.

    1) Miele has a Hepa airclean livetime filter and cannot be replaced, but dust comes also on this filter, bad. What can couse a overheating motor, dust in the motor, motor break.
    2) the transparant holder for dust, has two klep hinge and that is a weak point and will break.
    3) And another item is the vacuum cleaner rod, the break on the rod is defect, bad Miele.
    We all can see that this is not a livetime hepa airclean filter.
    And this for a 267 to 500 euro machine,
    Miele must do better!!!
    This is just a bad design.
