@@CMDRGURU951 I've always thought about the possibility of sub capital class ships in elite. Would be awesome to have fighter screening destroyers or torpedo boats. As the anaconda might aswell be a frigate, having more massive ships like that would be awesome for a few reasons. I liked @ 0:25 its the cover art for out of the darkness. A lot of intriguing and insightful ideas here too. Seems like definitely something to investigate
What I love about Elite is that, although combat is available (and you may be attacked), you can also spend a great deal of time just pottering about, earning money from legal trading or exploration. It is beautifully empty if you want it to be. I sat in the SRV on the surface of one planet, a long way from it's star, and experienced a feeling of being very alone and vulnerable. It was a great experience. On another approach to a planet, two GALCOP ships (showing my age here) scanned me and zoomed away over the horizon. Seconds later, I was bounced by someone set on pinching my cargo. I'm not good at combat and was expecting to be wiped out. To my delight I saw the police ships come back to protect a law-abiding Commander (me). That's what I call immersive.
Meant to say, your posts are always so positive and you reflect MY appreciation of what Frontier have achieved and are doing. Others whinge about what we haven't got - anyone can do that.
Very interesting, last gameplay trailer also had curious scenery, there are a couple of frames of planetary footage with the heart and soul nebulas (I think) in view, along with distant galaxies. Might be worthwhile trying to pinpoint such planet.
Also to add with regards to my expectations to Odyssey. I only expect Odyssey to only have the following on release: Blue sky atmospheres on Rocky and Ice Planets /w New Terrain & new POIs (outposts, installations, settlements, bio/geo sites etc) specific to the new fps gameplay; WEBSITE QUOTE - "See the galaxy like never before. Touch down on breathtaking planets powered by stunning new tech, soak in suns rising over unforgettable vistas, discover outposts and settlements, and explore with unrestricted freedom." Expanded BGS mission systems for fps gameplay i.e. stealth/combat missions, trading data and commodities, even something relating to diplomacy (I reckon bribery cash missions and the like) all for solo & wing/squad; WEBSITE QUOTE - "Take on a wide variety of contracts and play your way, from diplomacy and commerce to lethal stealth and all-out combat. Diverse settings, objectives, and NPCs offer endless mission variety and a near infinite amount of content to enjoy." New social hubs like Bars, Clubs and the like where you can meet with other CMDRs, socialise, meet mission contacts, acquire commodities and purchase weapons, armour & other gear. You will also be able to speak to new engineers that will upgrade and modify such weapons, armour & gear; WEBSITE QUOTE - "Social hubs spread throughout the galaxy give Commanders the ideal place to plan their next move. Form alliances, procure services, and even find expert support in highly coveted Engineers. These public outposts also help you acquire and upgrade weapons and gear to perfect your playing style." And finally there will be PvE/PvP multi layered missions featuring ground, vehicle & ship combat simultaneously. There will probably be maybe 2(maybe 3) more ships, an Alliance large ship to rival the Corvette and Cutter quite likely, I could hazard a guess (Panther Clipper?) but I think we might be surprised. I do think there will be a new SRV included in that. So it may just be a new ship and an SRV. WEBSITE QUOTE - "Experience intense first-person combat, kit out your character with an array of weapons and gear, and coordinate with teammates to master a multi-layered, deep, tactical environment where Commanders, SRVs and Starships converge." This is pretty much what has been outlined on the website already when it was announced (see quotes). Couple of parts i'm definitely inferring :P But even then, I am still excited even with what they have implied with their marketing. I do know ship interior's wont be a thing, or being able to exit your ship in space, or implementation of VR will be feasible in a realistic time frame. Each of these things will be sad not have added. But honestly, I just don't think it's that big of a deal breaker that people are making out. And with the way everything is atm with recessions & drying up of credit etc, forcing the development of features that may either a) not get used, bar the initial wow factor, and not be something they will be using regularly; and/or b) the amount of players that it effects is so small compared to the rest of the player base that its just not worth focusing development time and they know the risk of loosing that player base would be minimal compare to the rest of the player base. I don't deny its a crappy situation for VR players, but with it still being a niche product, it wouldn't be worth it. Especially if there are numerous feasibility issues. And especially if there are more important things to fix/improve etc.

@@CMDRGURU951 Aye, I have seen glitches like that before, lighting artefacts due to assets on the surface. Could be due to rocks that effect the lighting geometry. Honestly, I think I was one of those people. After our little converse on the stream the other day, it did have me thinking about those ADS systems. This video definitely spells out that reasoning. Very fascinating. I am glad you did a breakdown of the expanded galaxy map pan, as I recognised it from the post-Horizons official trailer. FDev does have a habit of inputting easter eggs and clue-type things in their trailers, and having that galaxy map pan shot reproduced definitely makes me think there are more to it than a simple cool shot for a trailer. Explaining the references of each of the systems is a good shout, as it does show there are definitely connections there. However those ADS systems and the weird human signal is defo new info for me. God been playing for years and well into the lore, and its like I have just only started to scratch the surface of this game. But you managed to get the video out in time, guess I can't unsub & unfollow now *rolls eyes* geesh :P With Regards, CMDR Jack Wilmslow
Thanks for staying on board! That human signal, my biggest worry is that it was the FC in system, but the issue is that they leave waks, not static planetary signals, so it's now a matter of time to see. Time is ticking.
That’s not actually a diner it’s a bar. I posted all of those background pictures that were used in this video including the one with Dr. K and the bar one that you thought was a diner a month or two back on Elite Week Discord. They are from the original press kit that was sent out to games journalists and a few other people when the first odyssey trailer dropped.
"My only concern is the absence of capes in these images". I'm happy to see you got your priorities straight! The Draco constellation's got me intrigued... *looks for tinfoil hat*
I'm way late to the show here, and it might have already been figured out, but the human signal was prob the carrier signal that hadn't instantansed out yet, I know they show up as human signals on surface scans if they're in orbit of said body.
Pretty sure the human signal was from the fleet carrier. It would have stuck around even after the FC left the system due to weird instancing rules. You can recreate this by launching up horizons (v13) and finding an unlandable planet orbited by a FC. Will have the same effect.
Nice video BTW, very interesting, I get the feeling that Fdev must be using the human signal source or something to get them access to certain aspects of the game, maybe with that option ticked for them, they can land on any system they wish. Like an override of some sorts. The fact that an FC was in system at the time, might be a co-incidence, but who knows. Shame you didn't get the name though or ID. Might have been identifiable.
I've always been a little suspicious of the Coriolis station on the old welcome screen, back before horizons. I tried hard to find that station and in hindsight I guess I suspect now that it could have been the RAXXLA Coriolis station, which, as I understood, was the station that Ben Ryder manned and where you had to stop to ask for permission to use the Tionisla gateway(?). To me the planet from the screen looked like New Africa, which does have a Coriolis kind of like that. I feel like the welcome screens are key to something in the game. Whether it's Guardian, Thargoid, Dark Wheel, or Raxxla related. I wonder if that sharp turn FSD mechanic hints at new FSD drives? Or, as I have believed, capabilities that undiscovered engineers can have installed? I really believe that the key to some of these permit systems is MetaDrive or Quirium drive tech...In other words, Thargoid tech. The key is also the door.
Dahan has a station named Dahan 3 Metalworks, maybe that's a key? I too suspect secret drive tech can be found somewhere. Also, the loading screens, yes!
