Looks like a great tea! Video Idea: Can you make a video that brings insight to clay pot's tea patina, leaf build-up in the spout vs mold? Also, I heard Hydrogen Peroxide is a great way to get rid of mold then a cycle of boiling the pot in a deep pan. I can't fathom how someone could recommend vinegar when mentioning porous clay (the smell stays). This video would be of great value for all these expensive pots. I found some build up in my spout, freaked out and did some research. Its most likely tea leave build up but will clean it anyway.
If you’re worried about the smell of vinegar then you definitely don’t want the smell of hydrogen peroxide. Also please never use hydrogen peroxide to clean anything that comes into contact with food 😂
@ For real? I haven’t tried the peroxide, but it smells neutral from the bottle like alcohol. Plus, it evaporates. I imagine the boil in water would take off any trace. You had a bad experience? (Talking 3% Hydrogen Peroxide)
@@desertfox432it’s poison. Personally I thoroughly wash my pots after every use, no patina is worth the prospect of mould (which would necessitate throwing the pot away).
@@desertfox432 I've never left my pots closed with water in them to induce mold but I did brew some pretty terrible tasting smoked tea that I wanted to remove. I choose to use baking soda and tepid water with a fresh toothbrush to clean it out. I also rinsed with boiling distilled water to remove the baking soda.
@@azraphon lol of course I wash my pots with warm water and don’t leave the lid on. Tea leaf build up in the spout is a thing. Water can’t move all residue. (Look in your spout). 3% (not 70%) dilution food grade hydrogen peroxide is used on even produce. Once activated the loss of oxygen turns it to water. It also kills mold at that strength. I see it as a possibly good candidate. Perhaps fill the pot with it, douse the exterior. Let it sit 5 mins, salt scrub with a toothbrush, then boil the pot in hot water like you do for first-time use. In theory that might work (unlike the vinegar disaster). At least someone should recommend some remedy and ways to identify mold vs leaf buildup (hence the nod to Don).
Interesting brewing method, I usually drink either the tea pyramids / bags or do a brew in a large tea pot with a teaspoon perhaps of tea mix. Just had a nice Lovare Tea Pyramid, Champagne Splashes, this evening it was even better than before, and now I've just come up with your channel and subscribed. I love tea, much better than coffee, Coffee is a morning drink to wake up, Tea is an evening drink to relax.
If buying the 3 stick pack with some for aging - your recommendation - would you store in the bamboo or remove the tea from the bamboo - to store in air tight bags?
I've never tasted a bamboo roasted tea before, but one of my favorites is roasted tieguanyin. What's the biggest difference in the final product if the only difference is the roasting process? Also, could you bamboo roast an oolong?
@@Geospatial_Dave You are paying for the experience and expertise that Don has developed over a long period of time. If that is too expensive for you...don't buy it then...
@@Geospatial_Dave Then what is the point to leaving such a comment? I mean cheers to you then for your depth on knowledge in said topics...however to me that's pretentious at best.
That cut made it seem like Don was gonna beat up his water kettle to show it a lesson 😂
Your tasting notes always inspire me to try to find all the 'notes' in whatever I consume after watching you, and that really enriches my experience.
Roasted white tea from Menghai in the Benshan pot...a classic matchup. Even more classic: Don vs. the kettle. Priceless!
Super excited to taste this tea in the Lüni pot as soon as they arrive!
Cool Jade Starr t-shirt!

If that’s the OXO Kettle, I found their customer service very helpful. It was a few years ago, but they were very willing to replace my faulty kettle.

Where did you get your skates at? Not the ones that the butterfly has on , also do you think that a sampler of all 3 will ever be available?
Back once again...
42 second 1st. brew with 9.6g per 100ml. We call this junkie brewing in the business. At this quantity of leaf, 42 seconds is my brew no. 14.
Dear Lord 🥹🥲

Man I wish your products weren't all like 20-40 bucks overpriced each
You can taste the quality when you drink his tea
@alexandercasillasauthor I've tasted plenty of quality for less but I understand it's not an easy thing to do. I just don't value it at that much
