Should I make an update video on where I am now since this experience? So many comments on here are supportive with similar experiences, yet few have commented how “lazy” I am etc., when it’s been years and they don’t know me nor my major I’m studying or work ethic. So, I’ve thought for awhile if it would be interesting to make an update video of where I am now since then and talk about myself a bit.
Word for word, this was my experience as well. It is now 2024 & they seem to still be getting ppl. Luckily for me I’m only 1 day in. Way better than spending a whole weekend being bamboozled about how great these knifes are as well as ultimately wasting time you’ll never get back. Just want to say thank you for this video & you deserve everything ounce of success coming your way!
@@kingcvbthank you! Also 100% agree. I love people bashing me for thinking I’m lazy just because they had success with it. Good for them but it doesn’t change how sketchy, manipulative, and terrible the company is as a whole to have so many lawsuits and people having the same experiences. Friends of mine who worked there even said how poor the management teams are and how deceptive they are. There are far better sales jobs than this company and even my roommate who’s a professionally certified chef said how $**t the knives from there are.
Same, I got on and said "Hello!" and Claire was like "Hello everyone" and I'm like "Tf?". They didn't tell me it was a group interview, they just told me it was an interview.
LMAO! I had a letter show up on my desk today that said "Summer Work Opportunity Enclosed". I thought it was just a local thing, but as I got deeper down the rabbit hole, it seemed more like a big company was contacting me from afar. So anyway, I got to the point of having an interview scheduled tomorrow, but something about this all seemed fishy. I am so glad I googled vector marketing and found your video. I watched it all the way through. I think I'm going to not show up to my interview tomorrow and block their numbers. You saved my rear, bro!
Ive just signed up and got a text saying that they are going to schedule an interview. So you saved me time. Thanks Thanks much. No one texted me back.
I was so pissed when they asked me to refer up to 100 people before I even started the job. My manager had access to my contacts (which she gained through the app) and was going through my contacts on her end and asking me to check who I think would or wouldn't buy cutco. It was such a violation of privacy and when I asked if we can wait for me to refer people, all she kept saying was "Why?" and "Wait for what?" . Like miss lmao I haven't even started the job yet. It was after the last day of training and after she kept pestering me on why I wanted to wait I just broke down and quit. Training was draining and a waste of time. Im completely embarrassed of this job and for telling anyone about it.
Yikes, had the app in day 2, didn’t know they could go through your contacts, added some from my phone but deleted them Friday (day I didn’t show) my account is still there, didn’t add a profile pic iether.
I felt dirty when I made appointments for calls, I attended one of them and told the person that they weren’t going to buy something and that this was a fake meeting. After that I cancelled all of my appointments and left this pyramid scheme.
The highlight moment of my vector experience was me literally asking one of the "mentors" if it's a pyramid scheme and their answer was "no but even if it was, who cares, you're making money." Uh, girl what? Edit: I felt really bad about falling for it too but watching all these videos made me realize how predatory they are and how they trick you into it. Thank you for sharing your story.
oh my gosh I’m so glad I googled vector bc I literally just got off the phone with and I have and interview for tomorrow but now I’m not even gonna show up lmao thanks
@@JoeJoe-jw3kl yeah except I’m almost at 30% commison and I worked for 3 hours last week and made 400 bucks as a college student not bad I could show you my bank statements for proof lmao
@@kadendecker7629 Not interested in seeing your bank statements dude, you don’t need to prove yourself to an online stranger. Even though I know that’s what they trained you to do lmao
@@JoeJoe-jw3kl they didn’t train me to do that just saying people who say it’s a scam just aren’t willing to work hard enough to get to a point where at least I make more doing this one day a week than I would working full time at my other job
I was with CUTCO for literally about three weeks, aside from it being non-paid, another thing I didn't like about the training (online) was how you didn't interact with the other team members at all and yet they wanted to emphasize team & family? I can understand why, but I feel that if you are not a very competitive person, this isn't a job for everyone.
It's a scam. I vowed to not let them scam people as much as possible and I tear down every Vector Marketing AD I see. I work near a college campus and when I go for lunch, i still see their ads on the walls in the morning. After lunch, they all disappear. 🙂
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Just got a letter the other day and was actually pretty eager for a remote position because of the pandemic. The faster you can weed out the scams the faster you find legitimate work though. Worried for how going completely remote will allow them more easily rope new people in.
bruh i'm seriously going through the same experience right now! this week they paid me less than the amount of appointments and commission that i made! i'm quitting by the end of this week.
also they're weekly team meetings are so annoying and they last 3 hours! i'm a full time college student so i don't have any time for that. thank you though for sharing your experience, i know if i had done my research and watched this video before i went into the interview, i wouldn't have even gone.
And not just that? They expect you to only sell those knives in your Circle like friends of friends like what da fuck! Yeah that right there through me off from them and I never proceeded with them.
@@africanqueen552 smh. i had to delete pics off my instagram because they were provocative. which threw me off. and i also had to post certain things on my page lmao
i worked there and when they had the group job interview ( i help as the welcome guy) this one guy came in and was wasted falling down plus smelled so bad of liquor i told my manager about it and she told me that she will handle it that the end the dude comes out so happy " I GOT THE JOB" AFTER THAT i just walk out and knew this job was a joke
Oh wow that’s crazy we had the same experience! Yeah the whole thing is scripted for sure and it’s so odd. I understand it’s sales and they want people to hav a guideline to follow, but the scripts were so pushy onto getting people to stay for a 45 minute presentation if they weren’t gonna buy anything. Just seemed attention seeking and desperate
@@mikecapalungan Yeah, during our break from "training", I looked things up and then hit the LEAVE button on Zoom right away. I also blocked all their numbers and emails so they don't reach out lol
@@mikecapalungan Yeah! It seemed totally cultish? Like they were oddly enthusiastic about knives and pushed being really enthusiastic about knives. They were annoying as hell lmao. I had to block them and threaten to sue to get away
bro....my training is tomorrow. I'm glad I watched this first because I started getting this weird vibe after my interviewer had message me. From where I live, they're paying $20 per appointment so that convinced me because you know being a broke college student, you need cash. I knew it was too good to be true. Thank you for this info. edit: also I was not told it was a group interview either. so when I logged on, I didn't find out there were others until 10 minutes into the presentation video. i was surprised because I was expecting a one on one interview at the set time. also, it bothered me that I had to wait 30-40 for my turn only to answer two questions. The interviewer was giving me bad vibes which I tried to ignore but it kept bothering me. I was surprised when he told me after hearing both of my short responses that I got hired. I was happy for a moment up until I got off where I started to feel weird about it. As of right now though, I still feel weird about it and most likely will not go the training.
Thank you for your honesty i cancelled my interview does sound sketch from the start and i didnt like how when i had questions they refused to answer upfront
I had a similar experience, which is why after my second day of training I quit. I like to think of it as a cult because they legit want ALL OF YOUR TIME and try to BRAINWASH YOU. Outside of training you are expected to do extra work and that's something they definitely don't tell you until you accepted the position. Yea maybe it is not an entire pyramid scheme since you're not require to buy the product, but it does follow the same idea of finding your own customers. If you are assistant manager you are also expected to recruit friends and family. They even say you work around your own schedule but then push you into finding more customers. What's most annoying is when they talk about their target market, 30 plus year old women. Idk the statistics but ig older women do more of the cooking in the house BUT they have a whole laugh about it making it feel rather sexist...
Yes I 100% agree and that’s how I felt about it. I also noticed that they seem with their scripts to force using your story of “needing” money or “needing” experience for a good life and therefore the customers should sit through an hour on something they’re not interested in. They were saying how this season was the best time for their product sales, but lots of people lost their jobs and can’t afford to spend hundreds of not thousands of dollars on cutlery. I quit after the second day too because apart from the requirements needed in order to actually make a career out of the job, they treated everybody like a number and complimented them like they were the chosen ones an should be lucky they were chosen. It’s honestly ridiculous and even the training is bs like 3 days online for almost a total of 24 hours that’s not paid...
I remember, it had to be "A+ customers" who either were married, owned a home, or had high income. Another thing was I didn't like how the managers I got downplayed other jobs basically saying "you dont wanna be working at a McDonald's". Sometimes a job is a job and doing food service is no joke.
thanks for this video! I knew something was sketchy when they DMed me on Instagram offering a job :/ I can’t imagine contacting my friends’ parents to buy knives 💀
I just got the job a few days ago and right now I'm doing the training. I experienced the exact same thing: a classmate, who I have never talked to, except to ask questions about the class, reached out to me and told me about this company. I need the money, of course, so I filled the Google form and soon enough I got a call, scheduling an interview. I attended it, they asked me some questions, then they called me again for another interview (a group one) and at the end the guy asked me why should he give me the position. I honestly thought I ruined my chances of getting the job, cause I was so nervous and didn't know what to say, but turns out I still got it. It is kind of weird, since they text you instead of emailing like professionals do, the training takes so many hours and they only give you like 20 minutes or less of rest, and practically all the workers are college students, plus they express themselves so badly. My main language isn't English, but they mix both languages and I don't understand why. I get so stressed hearing them talking like that. After seeing this video and others, I'm not so sure anymore. Still I'm gonna try it for a month and see how it goes.
@@victoriataylor5215 oh, I quitted the second day. 😅 It was too complicated, I didn't wanted to make my summer a living, stressful hell. It wasn't my kind of job and for a few bucks I thought it wasn't worth it. Plus, the superior was really unprofessional, he had been communicating with me through text and when I sent him a message saying I wanted to quit, he responded: "Could you call me? This looks unprofessional". I was pissed off by his ridiculous comment, like seriously? 😡 On top of that, their mix of languages (Spanish and English) while talking was making me feel stressed, I hate when people do that. Anyway, it's a waste of time, you only bother people and only get paid by the meetings you manage to complete.
i felt so guilty trying to almost beg my family and family friends to buy expensive knives. they were super rude when you didn’t make sales even though they advertise that you don’t even have to make sales.. super sketchy
That sucks :( . I work for vector rn and even when I don't make a sale my managers never make me feel bad. I don't want to pressure people to buy them no matter what
Thanks for sharing this man. Watching this before my first day of training tomorrow, lol. I think I'll hop on to see what it is like for myself but yeah I don't have high hopes at all. If anyone's seeing this, the first part with the interview stuff he mentioned, is spot on. Don't fall for this.
I just finished training and have been watching videos, and then found this one. I am a freshman in college and already a lot of my time is spent on assignments. They say it's flexible, but when I told my manager I could only do maybe 3 calls this weekend due to a speech I have to do, he was pushing me to do 10. Not to mention, the manual had many grammatical errors in it, and most of the pictures of people who they say made over $1,000 every week looked like a picture of someone you could find off Google. I have not sold anything, but this whole thing seems so sketchy to me. I want to quit, but I know my manager will try to talk me back into the position and I am so bad at saying no. I think after watching this video, I am going to inform my manager. Thank you.
Yeah I would tell them! I was also afraid to tell my manager that I was no longer interested out of fear that they would convince me to stay. I also am bad at saying no. I texted my manager and he never texted me back. They don’t care about you. To them you’re just another number
@@mikecapalungan Yes, I messaged mine last night. It was late, but no response. Then this morning I see that he posted in our group chat. I signed the contract and everything, I just hope that I do not get in trouble for it.
I did sign the contract, but I called the number on the contract and I asked them to cancel my contract. I believe that they tell you to email someone and ask to get it canceled and then they will do that for you. It is an easy process.
I went on the zoom call and it was a group interview. Basically the manager was talking about it and showed video after video. It was such a long wait to get the one on one interview I hung up and left the zoom meeting. I have a life
Yes! I had quite an odd experience as well. It was almost the exact same as yours except the ppl in charge of my zoom call BRIEFLY went over the knives which I thought was weird. And never mentioned the price of a set or anything. And I have like a really timid person tbh and the fact that they hired me on the spot and showered in me in false compliments was all I needed to say: yeah this isn’t real/issa scam. Thanks for sharing ur story! You should definitely make more videos on ur past jobs too
Thank you for exposing this, I literally have a interview with vector marketing in 4 hours so glad I didn't waste my time, guess who's not showing up lmao
I just had the first day of training... and we were on there for 6 & 1/2 hours.... and she only gave us 2 breaks one break for 5 mins and then another one for 7 mins. So weird.
i got tricked by them about 20 yrs ago. saw an ad for an "office job" where it said it was $11 an hr to just answer phone calls, so i go for an interview and it's me and 10 others in an empty room getting a knife presentation and the guy telling us we were gonna go door to door to our relatives....
Hey bro! I completely understand where you’re coming from. I worked for them from about June of 2019 to about November of 2020. From my experience, Vector was never a scam. In all fairness, I did start with the company fairly well and made about $2k in my first 2 weeks. If you don’t start out too hot, I can see why someone would think it’s a scam but tbh I never saw it that way, but that’s just my opinion.
I’m glad it went well for you! I didn’t really have any connections that would’ve started me off in a good spot. Plus my parents were super skeptical and could’ve gotten fired if they gave me their contacts from work and etc. I’m glad it went well for you though!
@@mikecapalungan it’s not for everybody, that’s for sure. I know it’s promoted as that. But even when I became a manager we were told to promote it as if everyone could do it, even though we were told to look for specific kinds of people. we didn’t even get a break at all. over 5 hours straight. i literally came home yesterday and cried i was so stressed. it also made me feel awful for soliciting to my family & friends but they made us cold call them while we were ON ZOOM
same here. was rl boutta cry bc it was sO much information and how scammy it was. like it was crazy how they were pressuring you to be " positive and smile more ".
I literally almost signed up with them this week but I slept through the interview. What makes it worst is I’m in college for a culinary arts degree. I was looking for some way to make money online in between classes. I’m so glad I didn’t reschedule.
This was the exact reason the job originally interested me tbh. Mainly to make some extra money or possibly have more experience in a different job field, but this job was not it lmfao
The product is good though you might want some knives. That's likely the shittiest part the product is actually not terrible. I mean it's not a japananse 2k knife set but it ain't bad.
I fell into this trap too. They did pay me for training though, I live in Illinois though and I know now they had a lawsuit against them here for not paying for training. So maybe that’s why. It was such a joke. Afterward I was like yes I’m not doing this. They target college students and now they’re targeting stay at home moms as well especially since COVID hit and those knives, while nice, are super overpriced. Like who in the world had money to spend thousands on knives!?! Especially with this pandemic going on. Then they want you to give them numbers of friends so they can recruit more people, don’t tell you up front that you have to sell to your own friends and family which isn’t great for people who don’t have the money for it or for people who just simply don’t have a large network of people, then you’re reliant on asking your friends and family to recommend you and give you their friends and family members numbers which means now you’ve become an annoyance and most people aren’t going to give out people’s numbers. Then they also have rules like you have to sell to people that are at least 30, married and homeowners. It’s an MLM which basically is a legal pyramid scheme if we’re being honest. Nobody wants to do this for a living and nobody wants to have to sit through these presentations and give you strangers contact info. It’s just completely asinine. If they were a real company they would have customers for you, not expecting you to just find people on your own. I hate this company and just want everyone to be warned about them.
I sold Cutco from 2012-2014 and ran my own Cutco office. The knives are fantastic and I still use them to this day while I’m thinking about getting the flatware set. I think they should be more selective with their sales reps and provide them a base salary along with commission.
Oh wow that’s amazing! I had no doubt that their knives were good products, but I agree 100% that they should be more selective with their sales reps. I don’t think this is a good job for college students who want to use this job as a full or part time job. They boast about how you’ll get money, but as you’ve said they don’t really provide a base salary along with commission. It’s always one or the other from what they’ve told me when I tried with them.

My kid is a college student and just got a letter from Vector. Cutco was not mentioned anywhere, and there was no return address on the envelope or the letter. The base appointment pay was listed as $25. There was a QR code on the letter to apply. No return address, no actual job description, no phone number- all set off alarm bells. Looks like pure BS, and turns out is . If Cutco really was as good as the company claims they would be selling their products in stores and wouldnt be CONSTANTLY trying to find people to sell their knives. Its overpriced garbage.
I just basically got hired yesterday and suppose to have training today and tomorrow, but after watching multiple videos on the vector shit... They gone have to fire me cas I aint showing up or responding to nothing nomo.
This video is years old, but I've had this SAME experience. I felt so pressured during training. It was terrible, went on too long, and they didn't even specify how exactly we got customers. I took off work to be there and the training wasn't even training most of the time. I was under the impression they would send us customers. They literally have you looking for them instead. It's overly strange and I don't appreciate when people are dishonest and vague with me. Don't do it.
I can’t believe the company is still pulling this scam on people I went to one of these interviews in 1987 and it was the same crap then you go to the training and see it’s a multi level marketing company. Door to Door sales. No one wants to buys these overpriced knifes. The first clue is if they don’t pay you for training do not take the job if you’re hired for a company and they’re making you take some training you should be getting paid cause you’re working. This company has a lot of lawsuits against them.
The biggest lie you can tell yourself is that it will be easy. Definitely not an easy job, but if you’re the right fit, you’re the right fit. Why screen everyone out when they can screen themselves out?
I was excited and pulled out all my extra-circulars, flexed on my grades and everything but when you said that 1 knife costs $200+ and the sketchy interview process, I'm like, I ain't doing this. Nobody gonna buy a knife like this. I'm out
Thank you for posting this. I have an interview tomorrow, but now I’m convinced I’m not going to do it. I was feeling sketchy about it, and this just confirmed I was right.

I have a training Sunday, is it really not worth doing? I’m trying to just find a chill job to make a little bit of money here and there but I don’t want to waste my time on a scam.
I was a rep for vector and was immediately disliked by my district manager because I had applied with an already advanced knowledge of Cutlery and manufacturing technology. During the initial training I had brought in a cheap knife which I had properly sharpened and it outperformed the cutco knives from his demo set during the rope and leather tests etc. He did not know how to deal with something like this and after that training session most of the other applicants left. The only reason people buy from vector marketing reps is because they have some money and feel bad about saying no to someone desperate enough to work for them.
I looked up videos about this because I was in the interview and they showed us a video just talking up the company and how great it is. I saw that the training isn’t paid and immediately I knew I didn’t want to do this job. Then the video ended and the recommended video was this one, and I knew I had to look this up.
Glad you did! It definitely has so many red flags and they even got sued over not paying their trainees for all those hours with minimal, short breaks bc the company doesn’t see them as workers yet. Which any other job, you get paid for your training and to sit there for several long hours a day without getting paid was a huge red flag
@@zelds6053 I was too at first since the money seemed great and I told the guy who hired me that I was willing to go above and beyond. He gave me a whole spiel about how much potential he saw in me etc. I was willing to work several hours a day for several days a week. I currently was working a DoorDash job constantly grinding that for 8 hours every 4-5 days a week.
First time seeing your video. One of my ex co worker gave them my information and now they texted me for a virtual interview. They said $25 base pay and bonuses, and scholarships. I told them yes tomorrow but now that I watched this video. I changed my mind. I'm so glad I ran into your video. Great video 😀
I was suggested this job a year ago, I don’t remember how, but I had a bad feeling about it and didn’t go through with it. But a couple days ago, I was like dang I really need a job, it’s summer and I don’t have anything to do. So for some reason I was like, maybe I’ll give them another shot, so I filled an application, and just finished the interview this morning. They STILL do not say it’s a group interview until the actual interview starts. The pay is $22 now which seemed enticing but I was still skeptical. When the interview finished I got a call from the guy and they were asking the same questions you described in the video. And he told me that the training was unpaid and 3 days. First day was 4 hours and the other 2 days are 6 hours. Which I was like thinking to myself why wouldn’t training be paid for it being so long. After the phone call I ghosted them
Yes exactly! Glad you avoided it. Even my parents who are super hard working and make a ton of money said how when I told them about the job that there was a lot of red flags. Especially with how pushy they were for just starting out and the script with basically trying to convince people to feel for you for what you need money for by mentioning your life and then making them wait 45-60 mins for a presentation…I know people who actually got into the job and even they said themselves how awful management and etc is.
I went through the same thing 20 years ago!!! I can't believe Cutco is s still around. They got my daughter to go on the phone call. As soon as she said "CutCo" I was like hang it up baby, it's all bullshit and I explained it to her. Total scam company.
Thank you fir making a clear to the point explanation of how things work there’s a lot of click bait back and forth on this company that end up answering no questions
Wish I found this last week. I went through all 3 days of training, each day was 7 hours long with maybe 3 5 minute breaks. I was uncomfortable with contacting people, basically cold calling. I even signed the contract, but like an hour later I resigned.
same. my training was atleast 5 hrs. 10-4, 10-5, 10-530 and it was soo much information. and then those 10 minute breaks?? i signed a contract too but not the direct deposit form, i signed the form where it basically states that I am an official sales representative. 😔how do i not work for them at all? or like after i tell them i quit, how do i not get into trouble?
good thing i watched. i should cancel my interview. it all sounded so sketchy to me. i was somehow recommended by a friend. i barely even talk to… i asked her if it’s a scam and she literally said no. but also told me how the manager had access to her contacts. it’s so weird. i don’t know. but i just know i’m going to stick to my mcdonalds job. i don’t know why i just searched them up last minute. an hour from now i have an interview
That’s how I was I just quit yesterday I only did the training. I realized it’s basically not even they correct pay per hour it’s per appointment and it’s hard to find people. It’s like your making money off of your own family and I didn’t think that was right. I made sure to quit before I actually got started.
@@13Deashawn I just don’t like how THEY do it it’s like you don’t know anyone else to call BUT your family and it’s like your pressuring them to buy and just using them to make money off of looking at a presentation. The job isn’t for everyone and it most definitely wasn’t for ME.
I went to their group interview. I was excited as well but my red flag to bail on the training that was scheduled for the following week was the fact that NONE of my family congratulated me and instead were warning me to be careful or they were skeptical. I decided to research it and found many people calling it a scam. I decided to not go to the training. The following week I went to a staffing agency. I made more money at the staffing agency than I would’ve made working for Cutco. 😂 you know that’s bad.
By the time I went to my first Vector meeting, it had been the third similar "job" that I'd been offered. I gave them 15 minutes..and realized right away that it was another "pyramid sales" format. I walked out.
I work for vector, just a few things i have noticed, maybe it is different now then it was a couple years ago. But i work for the New England division, and my boss never told us we were gonna make loads of money, they did say we would sell a lot of cutco, ive sold $3k in my first two weeks, and ive made just over $350 in actual take home pay. Also in a job where you are selling, you should love what you sell, which is why they kind of push the advertising and try and get you to love the product. It really does help the pitch. Also dressing professionally is HUGE in sales. Someone is much more likely to buy if you look serious and professional.
I'm so glad that I watched this video. I legit just got a text asking me if I wanted a job from a random phone number and there was no info about the company or anything like that, all it said was your friend recommended you and if you want a job to respond to this message. After I responded they called me and said they were a marketing company for Cutco and that they put me on a priority list because my friend recommended me. Thankfully I did my research and found out about all the lawsuits and how sketchy the company is I wasn't sure if it was all true but now after seeing your video and like 6 others I'm definitely not going to the "interview" I have in 45 minutes.
Yah I’m so glad I could help you! They definitely make it seem you’ll be successful and all these other empty promises. They treat you like a number and don’t value you at all. They shower you in compliments and the minute you step out for whatever reason they act like you never existed. There are so many videos out there including mine on just how horrible this company is with their pyramid scheme. It’s sad.
I’ll make a update video on what’s going with the job. I notice how people in the comment section says their making bank but never once state how much though ?
Ya I got a DM from some random girl who and I was kind of interested. So I got a interview and the manager who did my interview was like "you don't meet our followers requirements" because apparently they look for people with 1.5k - 2.5k followers and I was no where near that. Somehow I got the job and i decided to do research about the job like any normal smart person would do. I was supposed to get training that evening but I saw so many videos about it being shady and a scam, so I texted the manager and told her that I looked more into the job and decided it's not for me. Then she asks "looked more into the job?" And just gave me attitude and then sent me a long paragraph practically telling me the reviews I found weren't authentic to that side of the company and if I believe what other random people say she is happy to see me go. I'm glad I dodged that.
Ok not to mention this company has had 7 lawsuits brought against them. 6 for like unethical practices and 1 for sexual assault because a sales person got assaulted on the job and instead of the company actually training people to be safe when selling they focus more on telling you how wonderful the product you will be selling is and their sales to try and impress you. I bet more people in the company would be sueing them but 85% of their workforce are college students who don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong when it comes to ethical business practices and standards.
Thank you so much for this! I just got another letter from them and my dad’s been hounding me to at least see what’s up. Gonna forward this to him because I already knew it was a pyramid scheme, but he didn’t.
@@davicho518 cancel it!! They’re not good for you. Pyramid schemes are pretty bad and prey on vulnerable people. If a company makes you buy their product to sell to other people, that’s not a good business and please get out.
Hi Mike, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! You just saved me from the traumatic experience. I actually had an interview scheduled this afternoon. Immediately canceled it after watching your video! *I simply said it would conflict with school and my current job. I work for a legit organization well-known in my city.
I just finished a group interview that was done over a video call and I’m supposed to be getting a call after that. After doing a lot of research and finding this video I was convinced. Even if it’s not a scam, it’s not a good look when you see a lot of people talking down on it over the internet.
Yeah as I mentioned to a few other people who did have success stories...it may not be a scam per say to them, but the fact that not only myself but a multitude of other people have made videos about their experiences says a lot about the company. Even the video I mentioned to watch is about 35 minutes long and the woman goes into depth with law suits they’ve received due to their company. Sure says a lot.
I also finished a group interview a few hours ago over a site that was "a more advanced version of Zoom" (but it only showed your cam & the hosts'. Only one of them had their cams and mics on, so it felt like a 1-1 even though they mentioned other that there were other applicants in the call). I told them I wasn't too excited about joining because I only went to the interview out of curiosity, and I got accepted anyway. I'm supposed to start training next week, but I'm not sure if I should still go... Are they gonna start bothering me about it if I don't?
@@pitatidus it depends tbh. That is odd that hired you even though you weren’t really excited about the job, but just checked it out of curiosity. That just shows they hired you just to have people in their company to work for them. My friend worked with them over the summer and she got bugged all the time about not working on days when she said she couldn’t. She didn’t even get the right amount of money she was suppose to make for each paycheck she got. Even when she tried to quit they kept pestering her to stay. So it’s up to you, but I wouldn’t do it. You can either tell them straight up that you’re not interested or just don’t go. I texted my manager who seemed to care about me and go on a spiel about how “special” and “perfect” I was for the company that I wasn’t interested anymore and he never responded.
@@pitatidus You perfectly explained what I thought during the group interview lol. I’ve seen a couple of people mention online that they can pressure their representatives at times. But I wouldn’t know anything about that. I got a text message afterwards saying I got the job; It also asked to reply back with a response on whether or not you want the job. I decided to completely ignore it based on what I saw online. Going forward with the hiring process would obviously be the best way to know for sure if it’s something you would like. But if it’s something that is making you uncomfortable or unsure, I wouldn’t suggest it.
I'm so glad I decided to look this up. I had an appointment with them today. I have no idea how to cancel with them so I'm just blocking the numbers and the email and I'm not gonna show up.
Chile I just got offered a job from them today (I legit when from applying, interview, to job offer all in one day lol)! Using this video as research 👁️ 👁️
thank you so much for making this. i got a letter from them recently and i've only started to become kinda suspicious about them now. i began digging through and seeing if it was a scam or not. after i came across your video and someone else's, i began to have second thoughts. your video was super informative and helpful and you might have just saved me from falling into something sketchy.
@@blairebowers7088 i’m thankful i decided to dig a little deeper instead of jumping right in. i canceled my interview with them last minute and said i was no longer to work with them due to “last minute circumstances”.
This is a good summer job after high school, but don't expect to make much from the base pay. I got to where I was only working on referrals after a month and did pretty well, but I can't imagine closing 7-8/10 like I was if you aren't doing it in person.
@@Lilichbann I'd say focus on really learning what each knife is for and just practice on getting used to the flow of the demo. I was awkward at first but after 5ish 45 minute demos I was feeling better. Also you can ask another rep with a good personality to do a ride along which helped me. If you honestly believe in your product, believe it will legitimately be their favorite knife in a month even if you just sell 1 trimmer, and 3rd remember even given the quality, some people just might just not be in a good spot financially so be closing but don't push too hard, you'll have a good time without ruining any relationships, and start getting referrals consistently.

@@Negev-Israel I’m not surprised at all brother, this world is rigged. Entrepreneurship is the only way out of this mess of a system. Nowhere is safe 💯
I took that job in about 2000 or so and it was in-person. I totally did not want to mix my job with my personal life. I worked retail at the time and I didn't even like people I knew coming into where I was working. I sold a couple to a friend's dad who already liked the brand. He gave me a page of references, and I called each of them in my best telephone voice and was hung up on angrily. I also did some door knocking and managed to get one appointment with a person and sell a few knives. Despite those sales, I saw what the job would be like and quit before 2 weeks were up. I pretty much just stopped showing up or answering calls. A few months later, I started getting bills for a few bucks commission from someone who had returned a knife. I just ignored them. I considered my connection with cutco to be severed. Eventually they stopped. At the time, you had to pay a deposit to get a demo knife set of about $100. I had done that, so I just kept the knives. I think a woman I was dating in college made off with them after we seperated, and she moved out, but I still have the super shears and spatula spreader, which I use sometimes. For knives, I use Wüsthof, which are much better quality, and sharpen them from time to time.
aw, that does suck hope you found a better job. I'm currently working for them now its my 2nd week and I'm making hella appointments for my self and its helping me be so more confident I'm defintaly not scared to make my calls and its so fun!!!
Non paid training is a waste of time. Then having to come up with a phone book full of contacts to try to sell ppl off a presentation is stupid to me. If ppl love and buying their product so much why can’t they provide contacts for us of ppl looking and ready to buy that way all we have to do is the customer service part, set up the apt, ring the sale, and on to the next person on their list. I’m not close to my family or have to many friends in my circle to try to sell them on knives I know they can’t afford or would even wana buy bcuz they like what they have. This is definitely directed towards college kids cuz grown folks keep to their self and family become distant ppl u see on the holidays. My ppl down south got they own way of thinking and these knives is not important for them to sit threw a presentation. I know my ppl lol. It’s more than just calling ppl .. my fam ain’t even gone answer or hang up been there done that lol. It’s hard to get them to come thru for me for small things and this won’t be it either. I feel like if this isn’t something your passionate about don’t do it. Find what u really love to do and create your own business. This ain’t it.
I had the EXACT same experience. Fuck Cutco and Vector. Everyone in high school and college deserves to see this video, your doing a lot of people a huge favor.
Heres my expirence. Very manipulative about the hiring process. Made some money yes. When i asked my manager about how we get our customers she just danced around the subject. They told us were going to practice first with our family and friends. I was like ok cool. Couple weeks go by i say i wanna do some demos with more random people before i start ruining relationships for a sale. At some point i went door to door to try to not sell to family and freinds. Its just not working out. I think if you have like a go getter mindset/entrepreneur mindset i think theres better opportunities. Edit: As of writing this comment i still technically have the job but not selling to family and freinds. Kinda laying off rn.
100% this is the best comment hands down. So many people have bashed me and belittled me for being “lazy” when they know nothing about me. I’m a very hardworking and strong minded individual. I actually just graduated in December with a journalism degree from the #1 journalism school in the country. So, definitely not lazy. This video may make me come off that way, but I truly made it to tell people how deceptive the hiring process is and how they don’t fully give you the story of what you’ll be doing. I understand sales positions often are like how this company is, but so many friends who worked for them warned me and told me their terrible experiences. From poor management, negligence, and even as far as not getting full pay. For marketing and business people that’ve said how amazing this job is for them…good for them but there are so many more ethical and better opportunities as you stated.
I know it's been 2 years but I thought I'd share some information as someone who was told, "You have one of the strongest leadership skills of your group." That interview you took where they said they were very selective is a lie. After three months they offered me a recruiting position to bring more people to the job. However they give me a script to read which I recognized as the EXACT SAME conversation they did when they hired me. It revealed that the line about "selective hiring" is a tactic to get you excited when they inevitably do hire you. It's manipulation and I knew I was done after that. Sorry, but I had to share.
I just got roped in. got a random message from a girl i went to hs with who i havent talked to in years, saying i was recommended. went through the grueling unpaid training. 3 days, 5-6.5 hours, two 15 minute breaks. complete waste of my valuable time and miserably draining, repetitive, nothing burgers. lots of irrelevant info, hiding what the actual job is till the last minute, and priming you to feel normal about cold calling your poor relatives because “price doesn’t matter.” was a completely insane experience looking back on it, my “managers” looked younger than me (I’m 22) everything felt scripted, manipulative. I feel stupid for getting duped. I was weirded out when I found out we were supposed to be cold calling and finding our own prospects. I think someone even typed “scam” in the zoom chat. I don’t remember due to the brain washing haha. another thing that threw me off, when i told my manager how i was recommended by a girl i hadn’t talked to in so long she was like, “oh that’s weird, haha.” i didn’t think it was THAT weird till she said it. freudian slip. All this ra ra about how these are the best knives in the world, success is a choice, etc. training was 17 hours of what felt like a cross between knife infomercial and alpha male ceo billionaire “inspirational” videos. now I’m five days in total. I cancelled my presentations today, but marked them as completed to make up for the unpaid training lol. it’s turning the tables on them;) tomorrow I’m sending in my resignation letter and asking for my paycheck. but man, i really wonder if my “managers” know this is an mlm lite scam. i can’t imagine how it is to be in that deep. its scary. surely the actual higher ups know full well. do they lie to themselves? or know what they’re doing? should i feel bad for these people either way? i’m both intrigued and mortified.

I worked for them in the 90s just of out high school. Still own their knives and they're a great ever lasting product. Vector Marketing that they use to sale them however is a bit shady on getting sales people. I definitely agree and wouldn't recommend it as a career. Your going to likely start by bugging your friends and family for sales. Who likes that - nobody! They should just stick to fair shows.
What really pissed me off the most is that during my second week of working when I finally got my pay, did my manager tell me that base pay doesn't apply with the commission you made during sales. My friends were literally making double the money I was making per week working in FAST FOOD and was very frustrated they didn't let know in advance this was going to happen.
I went into this thinking it was straight up a pyramid scheme, and I think they're a little better than that now. My goal was to tell friends and family not to buy from me, but meet with them and make $25 for like 45 minutes of work (or just claim we met). However, I need to know how do they verify that you did meetings with customers?
This happened to me I kinda figured it out before I took my phone interview. Big scam! And I even trusted the person who recommended this job to me. When I called them out they gave me their brain washed response about the company. Ugh 😒
Friends of mine who worked there even said how poor the management teams are and how deceptive they are. There are far better sales jobs than this company and even my roommate who’s a professionally certified chef said how $**t the knives from there are.

They say it's flexible, but when I told my manager I could only do maybe 3 calls this weekend due to a speech I have to do, he was pushing me to do 10. I have not sold anything, but this whole thing seems so sketchy to me. I want to quit, but I know my manager will try to talk me back into the position and I am so bad at saying no.
So weird.
Well that's because it's a scam
Same I just quit today
Are you still working for them how did it go for you?
i got tricked by them about 20 yrs ago. saw an ad for an "office job" where it said it was $11 an hr to just answer phone calls, so i go for an interview and it's me and 10 others in an empty room getting a knife presentation and the guy telling us we were gonna go door to door to our relatives....

@@crissoa lol my interview is on Thursday. I don’t know if I should go.
bad Idea dude, you listened to one stupid video and missed out on a good oppertunity lmao. Becuase someone was too sissy to keep going.
The fact that many jobs pay so little that $17 an hour seems great is sad

Don't do it.

pulling this scam on people I went to one of these interviews in 1987 and it was the same crap then you go to the training and see it’s a multi level marketing company.

Omg that’s awsome! :) 😂

I’ll make a update video on what’s going with the job. I notice how people in the comment section says their making bank but never once state how much though ?
What happened?

@@ouijabored000the one thing that suspicious is that, here in Canada, there's a huge shortage in n job vacancies pretty much everywhere and Cutco somehow recruit more people every month. It doesn't make any sense
this is exactly what happened to me too back in november, everything was scripted and everything they said felt manipulative
Quick update my rep got an internship with NASA because of a demo he did with one of their aerospace engineers
Wow
My rep owns her own restaurant now, it’s a literal scam the reps get rewards and shi for recruiting as much KIDS an college students as possible
@@proudtuber2114 ¿that’s a scam how? We’re benefiting lives by offering valuable soft skills that make students higher quality applicants. Of course we want to give everyone the opportunity. You’re pretty dense😂
@@tristanwegener220 “valuable soft skills”one of these valuable soft skills is recruiting the most vulnerable and exploiting them to SELL your products to their family members!
@@proudtuber2114 just because you decide to look at life in that light doesn’t mean others view it the same. Their families are gonna buy cutco either from our website or myself or another rep. Silly goose
Thank you man! My brother has an obsession of working at cut co and I keep telling him to be very very careful
I just got "hired" I have my second day of training tomorrow and ima hella skeptical but I'm gonna go to the second day because what they're teaching us, isn't all bs, like the communication skills and understanding how some of this job stuff works. I think I'm boutta sell my soul for the next month and maybe get 10k we'll see.
How’d it go
@@josuearaujo5043 we did in fact not make 10k, don’t get into this hidden pyramid scheme, they literally had rewards for the people who recruited new people which is the definition of a pyramid scheme.
Ok. I need to know this
I went into this thinking it was straight up a pyramid scheme, and I think they're a little better than that now. My goal was to tell friends and family not to buy from me, but meet with them and make $25 for like 45 minutes of work (or just claim we met). However, I need to know how do they verify that you did meetings with customers?
literally the same thing happened to me , like what is a group interview i felt so dumb falling into this
Same thing happened to me... only interesting thing is that it was TWENTY YEARS ago! Amazed they’re still around doing the same crap!
I just started . Day 1 of training finished. What did I get myself into?
You are very well-spoken, I'm sure you will do well in whatever position you do find.
This happened to me I kinda figured it out before I took my phone interview. Big scam! And I even trusted the person who recommended this job to me. When I called them out they gave me their brain washed response about the company. Ugh 😒
Same same
3 days 5 hours a day unpaid intern is legal in Tennessee.
