The World's Shortest Airbus A380 Route Is Changing Again...

- In mid-March, it was reported that Emirates would return the Airbus A380 to its Dubai-Riyadh route on April 1st, which it did. It became the world's shortest scheduled passenger service for the Airbus A380. However, having this title was short-lived. As a reminder of how quickly things can and do change, there have been more developments since then, with an even shorter service coming, albeit with extremely few flights.

Wow. The Airbus A380 is once again prove to be the best aircraft in the world during this aircraft shortage and aircraft delivery delay crisis.
Still inefficient and a gas guzzler
I’m so very pleased that so many A380s have been returned to service following the incredible number placed out ofservice during Covid-19.
My shortest flight on the A380 Was from IAH - DXB With emirates. I was a transit passenger at DXB as i needed to go to DEL. Emirates is popular to connect DEL - IAH Via DXB.
Shanghai - Singapore, by singapore airlines a380. unforgettable memories!
Asiana is desperate for money and Seoul-Osaka is a very high demand Route
If Haneda Airport could accomodate the A380 they would have used the A380 in the high demand GMP-HND route as well
Would be very interested to see a video on the routes that have the highest aircraft variety
The shortest A380 flight I’ve been on was between LAX and SYD.
Really liked the video and appreciate that you guys always provide updates on the topic. However Iwould be interested in a video about the shortest 747 flights.
but why the irregular schedule? is there a particular festival something happening at those times?
DXB-JED undoubtedly is carrying a high fraction of pilgrims throughout the year on their way to Makkah and Medina. Unsurprising that they need 3 flights per day.
Interestingly, DXB-RUH is most likely THE most densely packed route in the world for management consultants. There isn't any other city pair in the world where so many consultants live in one city and serve clients in the other city. The sheer number of blue suits, laptops and Tumi/Rimowa luggage seen on a Sunday/Monday outbound and Thursday return is a sight to behold.
Great insight. Surprised at the management consultants, how does that work? Would’ve thought the Saudis would’ve encouraged them to live local & boost the economy not commute from UAE? Are they mainly western expats not happy with standard of living in Saudi? Surprised they travel in a world where everything is remote. Only ever seen it myself in China/Vietnam full of American suits in airports on weekly trips.
@@d.b.cooper1 with Saudization quotas it's impossible to move staff to Riyadh until you've employed a huge bunch of locals. So it's easier to keep staff in Dubai and fly in. The different labor policies do not always support the best outcome for KSA so things will need to be refined.
@@zunaidparker Ah, fascinating stuff. I guess it makes sense from a Saudi perspective cause unlike the other gulf nations they have a huge young population that's still moving into the tertiary sector. Huge trade off with easy fast growth I guess, but arguably the right move for the long run if they want to train & grow their own workforce. Personally always wanted to drive Riyadh-UAE across the empty quarter, looks great fun. Alas I'm a lesuire traveller not business haha.
There's an A380 parked at Prestwick International Airport (PIK) at the moment. It's owned by Global Airlines but it's still got the China Southern Livery on it.
OMG i live in Osaka/KIX i will love to see it when i will travel
And here I was thinking that Asiana’s days of making any decisions post merger-process were done, but I guess they still have some agency.
Dubai -Muscat would be an interesting one
Not an a380 but I went on Qantas from Ldn to Manchester on a 747 (400 I presume). took off like a rocket ship.
Shortest A380 flight taken: Emirates BLR to DXB and back. Longest A380 flight taken: Emirates LHR to DXB and back
2:12 DXB-RUH distance mentioned as 850 km, its a mistake right?
Speaking of which, is the merger between Asiana and Korean Air still happening? Or is it put on hold indefinitely?
I wish someone would've made an all economy or high capacity economy with a small business class plane.
Paris to London on a380? I wonder if train would be faster considering the need to be in the airport 2 hours early, plus getting in and out of a plane with a capacity of 500-ish passengers.
I wonder how much fuel would the SQ superjumbo carry for the SIN-KUL service??
Would love to fly on a A380
Will Emirates fly to Doha again ?
I love the a380 but my fav is the a350
Me too. The a350 is the perfect size, while the a380 is way too big 😬
me three
no one asked
So this is proof we are in a airplane shortage so most airlines are starting to use larger planes for smaller routes (edit: I'm the 2nd comment
Delta
I wish European airlines would do this, small planes suck.
Shortest route I've been on: SYD TO DXB (13hrs)..
BA should fly their A380 from LHR-LGW
pronounced every name here wrong including asiana ffs
Boohoo
