On April 22nd DOROTHY will be releasing her upcoming album "Gifts From The Holy Ghost" via Spinefarm Records. In support of the album, she is open for interviews!
Gifts From The Holy Ghost is the album that Hungarian-born vocalist/writer, Dorothy, has always wanted, and has perhaps been destined to make. Born from a sense of divine urgency, it is her most bombastic and gloriously, victorious rock and roll work yet. Each song built on triumph-the unshackling of chains, the slaying of demons with a sword of light-the album is a healing and remedial experience, made to unify listeners and point them towards a life full of purpose.
I sat down with Dorothy to discuss the new album, her fans, eating McDonalds at midnight, and slaying your inner demons.

When I was younger I didn't listen to female lead rock bands. The older I get that's all I listen to. Am I just becoming a dirty old man? I love Dorothy. I love The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, The Warning and the list goes on.....Dorothy, Hell Yeah! One day I'm going to stop drinking too.
The women are killing it these days. Can't find any male vocalists who really stepped up to take us into the next millenium.
Dude I’m the same! It’s all I can listen to now. Especially Dorothy. I bump old school Ann Wilson of Heart too
Man i'm exactly the same there awesome
Guilty, right here
Girls have gotten a lot better and theres more for the industry to recruit talent from. Theyre also being selected based upon talent not just for window dressing. But music in general gives us many more choices now. In the 80s they told us what we were allowed to listen to and once a genre was defined they were loathe to deviate from it significantly.
The album is incredible.
It's very good indeed!
Good to hear that she took ownership of her demons and overcame them! Much respect! The band is really good and she has a great voice!
💯
This 3rd album fuckin rips! From start to finish it’s got banger after banger. And it’s spiritual, moving shit she’s been through and you can feel it. And it makes me appreciate 28 Days in The Valley even more.
🤘🤘🤘
Great interview! Really enjoyed it! God bless you both! That song rocks! Love it!
Glad you liked it!
Go Pack, i'm 58 and going through exactly what you talked about.
Last week I asked my son if something was wrong with me. Lol
Love these girl bands!
🤘
just saw them in Atlanta.... fantastic
Awesome!
She’s not only hypnotizing and mesmerizing on the eyes, but the vocals… man. I’ve said this on her channel, but I’m SO glad they took the leash off of the band for this album. They always played it safe, so this kick ass vocalists stood out awkwardly. This record the band is alive, which emphasizes her vocals. She sounds more powerful and dynamic!!! And loving it…
Dorothy, Briggs, Taylor Momsen and Halsey are the best in the biz IMO. I haven’t seen a video of their voices breaking on stage. Lzzy Hale I think over does it, and she’s starting to loose control. That’s why I didn’t include her. I think she does sometimes over 250 shows in a year. Sounds like she’s coloring the rasp in her throat, unlike these beautiful artists coloring it on the roof of their mouth. Cords cannot take that much abuse, for that long… Jesus. Even if you destroy your cords, you can still sudo correct it a touch on the pallet, but won’t be as raspy. Look at Chad Kroger… Regardless of opinion, he was a really good vocalist. Had something removed from his vocal chords and doesn’t sound the same live.
Dorothy is a great singer indeed. I hear what you say. Lzzy can sometimes go over her voice but also keep in mind her schedule is just next level compared to all the other ones... They're all badass women 👊
@@BelgianJasper Agreed. In no way bashing her. Just don’t know how long she can keep that up. Females with that heavy voice like Emma Stone, they had a bacteria at birth I wanna say, and that causes the raspiness. Now she could get the rasp naturally without coloring it.
Really liked this interview! I need to dig a bit deeper into her music, she is incredibly talented and I love that some of it has a deeper message!
Thanks Aliyah! 👊👊👊
Good she's fighting off demons, that's what gives light to those creative juices. Those demons helped write the first killer album.
🤘
Fucking love this interview 🖤
👊👊
🥰🥰🥰🤟
👊👊👊
Havn´t heard their music but I get a little heavier Joan Jett felling, will chek them out soon (just have to come out of the Månegarm loop first😎)
Haha yeah Månegarm will do that to you!
When RUclips reccomends a good thing.
Thanks for that comment! Hope you'll find more stuff on the channel you like 👊
I just discovered your band. Love you music. You should collaborate with Lainey Wilson!
Someone for me to check out
