Mr. Spader has a god-gifted voice. When I listened to him reading The Strange Highways for the first time it seemed to my ears like a brook streaming past me and welcoming the reader to come along just like a soil particle at the floor of a stream would quite willingly loosen itself from the soil on being asked to join the flowing stream and gets swept away.
Now about the effect of such reading on the story. It conjures up the whole story into a film. Mr. Spader's tonal nuances delineate the different characters so clearly and distinctively that they come alive in front of the reader out of the pages of the written story. Wow! I enjoyed it thoroughly.
