  • Before we look at WHAT Christ did, we need to understand WHO He was. We need to examine the Character of Christ. In this video, Bryce discusses how 3 Nephi reveals that Jesus is a One by One Savior, and that you, too, will have a one by one moment with him someday, and currently have an invitation to connect with Him in a one by one relationship.

Bryce, Thanks for sharing this most important message. The knowledge of our individual Saviour is certainly missing in the world. The attempt to remove the "one by one" Saviour is not only part of the great apostasy leading into the last dispensation but likely every dispensation.
This message is the core of the gospel. Not only do we have a Saviour and Redeemer but I have a Saviour and Redeemer. There is no way to emphasize this message enough, that each of us might come out of darkness and apostasy to be redeemed "one by one".

Bryce, When you mentioned this one by one relationship the Savior has with each one of us, it reminded me of your video where you explained how at the judgement seat we will be asked of our relationships with our spouse and children one by one. Not as a collective but individually

Great connection. Only a one-by-one Redeemer could hold us accountable for our own one-by-one relationships.

Great reminder when we feel alone or unseen. Billions of people on earth yet our God has the capacity and desire to treat us like we’re the only one to help us and love us on our individual journey.
Great visual thinking he blessed each individually and imagining every blessing was specific and different instead of general and repeating. Like receiving a patriarchal blessing but the Lords hands are on your head. I liked how you focused on him asking what each one wanted individually. How many times have we heard the question “if Jesus was here what would you ask him?” Well we know what he’d ask us at least. And after listening to this I felt that assurance how that one on one time would go. We’d be invited to touch his hands and feet. He’d bless us according to His will. He’d ask us what we would want him to do for others we love and what could he do for us according to our desires.
I’m sure much more but having a general idea or part of that time together is tremendously insightful

3rd Nephi 17:25 they were in number about two thousand and five hundred and they did consist of men, women and children. I have no doubt that all of a certain age (?) went forth one by one. I also have no doubt that his blessing to the little children was the reason for two centuries of peace and righteousness until the last of the 1st person experiences of the blessed children and their children had departed from their life, thus the blessings that were given were not carried over to the next generation. Share your thoughts with me brother Dunford.

      Interesting thought.
Lehi seems to had lived to about 70. Mormon and Moroni seem to have been old men when they were around 70 so that would suggest the age expectancy in the book of Mormon was around 70 years old and child bearing years would probably be around 20-35 years old.
That would suggest that the youngest grandchildren of the children who received a blessing directly from Christ would have been born about 70 years later and would have died about 140 years after Christ’s visit. So it’s most likely that the generation that rebelled at the end of the 200 years were the great great great grandchildren of the children who received blessings from Christ.
If we take Mormon’s words to be literal:
“And it came to pass that two hundred years had passed away; and the second generation had all passed away save it were a few” (4 Ne 1:22).
That would suggest that the life expectancy dramatically increased during those years of peace. Possibility? I suppose so.
Another supporting piece of evidence would be that the generation that began to rebel in the days of King Mosiah were the ones that were too young to hear the words of King Benjamin. (Mosiah 26:1). That would seem to support the argument that the generation that did not directly hear or interact with Christ would be the generation that would rebel.
      Interesting.

It is never silly to “offer up the desires of [our] heart to God” (JS-H 1:15). Jesus did that in Gethsemane. “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.” But it is vital that we, like He did, conclude that plea with “nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matt 26:39). Some pain is essential for our progression. “Know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good” (D&C 122:7). A loving God will not remove a pain that is for our benefit and “experience.” Hence the importance of concluding our prayer with “nevertheless, not my will but thine.”
“Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come” (Jeffrey R. Holland, “An High Priest of Good Things to Come,” Oct. 1999).
