I think , without triple primary coil turn ,it will be more better and easier if we use thicker gauge wire and 1x 3 watt 10k resistor (for three transistor) because if we use 3 different wire for primary coil then there will be a little frequency difference between those transistors which produces noise at the output of the secondary HV end (unstable and noisy corona discharge) and also this video is so nice :-) BTW also increase the gap between the primary and the secondary winding otherwise there will be internal arcing between them in which those transistors will spend more current and you will get less arc length (basically power wastage) . Good luck!

@Heads Mess I think one application could be having multiple of the same power source, but not wanting to fry your oscillators by pumping all the power through just one, so you synchronize them all to individually feed into the coil. I could be wrong but smaller, lower power parts seem more stable and economically viable than larger, industrial level components.

work much better with high voltage on the primary, no less than 250v and either mosfets or vacuum tubes. The primary voltage needs to be at the resonate frequency of the secondary.

very cool. So you believe the three primaries help reinforce the resonance? What would happen if you set the three primaries at different frequencies, but arranged their off and on phases to switch on one after the other?

    • @phasepanther4423
      @phasepanther4423 2 года назад +3

I know this is an old comment but what you said contradicts itself.
If their off and on phases are after one another, they can't be different frequencies. They would just end up syncing to a new frequency based on the slowest one.
As for what would happen if you used different frequencies with a resonant circuit, they can't all be resonating. To resonate it needs to be a specific frequency that can be calculated.
Slayer exciters are fun because they self tune to their resonant frequency. But if you impose a different frequency, you'll still have a Tesla coil. Just one significantly less powerful for the same input power. It would basically be a transformer without a core.

@@szekerespista3758 Im starting to learn, it takes so much time. The basic formula was as follows:
Current (at Base) x Transistors gain (HFe) = current at Collector (the output).
      Thats It!
The current at the transistor Base is set by a small resistor there Voltage divided by Resistance = Base turn on current for that transistor.
Say have a 12v signal at the base 100 ohm resistor = .12 amps If your transistor has a gain of 26 then multiply .12×26= 2.4 Amps at 12v thats well over 25 watts dissipation.
In summery. Ib x Hfe = Ic or output current Ib = V÷resistor

i've also done a 3 primaries slayer exciter, not like this, i've seen the schematic online and it's alotta wrong, sorry, here's some tips and my version:::
    - you don't need ALL THOSE DIODES, just one instead of two in series gets the job done, on the other "channels" you don't need diodes also, the only one fitted will hold the negative swing for the 3 transistors and avoid breaking, a 1N4148 or UF4007 will go (UF stands for Ultra Fast, don't use a 1N4007)
    - fit a resistor in series on every transistor's bases, like 1ohm, this will level the current drive, otherwise the thermal runaway of the transistors will make the whole system run on just one of em and they may blow in succession (and deliver only one third of current even if not blowing)
(- you may instead fit that resistor on the emitter, it has kinda the same effect but having separate primaries it's better on the base)
    - use identical transistors and hopefully from the same batch
    - you don't need three resistors as well to crank the oscillation, the one that goes to Vcc, one is enough, experiment with it, it's not critical but it's value must be divided between the amount of primaries
    - the smaller the coil the faster the transistors need to be, for that size a TIP41C or BD243C is good, for smaller sizes of the secondary you can go with some BD139, for even smaller go with BC639 or BCX56 (hard to find and the latter is SMD but solderable on a piece of copper to cool it)
    - twist the primaries toghter in a cord to make em behave the same toward the secondary, don't wrap em around at layers, you can also use some enameled wire wound on a slightly larger pipe and hot glue the wires, make the connections short
    - don't common the heatsinks, the transistors collectors need to be separate
    - one transistor -> one primary... join em only on the Vcc side
    - a big secondary will quite likely disperse the electric field, so mind power, size and final frequency
my coil is 12cm high, 2cm of diameter, like 800 turns of thin wire (maybe a bit small), runs on 3 fake BD139 (2N2222A quite likely inside... you know... eBay... but you can place em on an heatsink :D), and i power it at 12V... primary is just two turns of enameled copper on a 3cm dia. piece of pipe, it runs at like 2.7MHz so the higher the frequency (cos of small size) the less primary turns you need, more turns = less current... less turns = more likely you blow the transistors (buy a pack of em if you can)

What if we used a 1kohm variable resistor to make a simple divider and we tune it, this way we can tune it closer to the resonance.
I use a single MOSFET which gets dumb hot even on a huge heatsink, im thinking of configuring a triple primary so i can test the power and heat. If this doesn't work, I'll have to get in deeper to use a gate driver which intimidates me.

UF4007 and 1N4007, the numbers are similar but the characteristics are quite different in UF and 1N. UF4007 is a ultra fast recovery diode, and 1N4007 is a 60Hz power supply rectification (very slow) diode. So 1N4007 can't work at this freaquency.
