    Thanks for this heads up on these 2 tires. It's too late for me. Shortly after buying my 2015 Specialized Allez, I purchased 2 pairs of Armadillo Elite tires (700 x 25) - they're a little lighter than the All Condition Armadillos at 315g (vs. 395g). I'm using these for touring.

    Good review. Woiuld you have a comparison point between the Gatorskins folding and the Continental Grand Prix 4-season? The Grand Prix is about 10g lighter, but I'm guessing the Gatorskins have better puncture protection (Poly-X breaker vs Double Vectran), and both have the same Duraskin sidewall protection. The main difference I'm interested in is if the 320tpi construction on the Grand Prix offers a noticeably better ride than the 180tpi construction on the Gatorskins?
    Another option I'm considering would be the Bontrager AW3 Hard-Case Lite.
    Thanks.

    • @AdamJStoryDC
      @AdamJStoryDC  4 года назад

      Here's the ones I get: amzn.to/2Ydd0VY There's the super hardshell ones and those are great too, but a lot heavier. I'd try the hardshells first and they'll last over 5000 miles, then try the other ones, try those 5000 miles and see what you like best.

      I am new to road bikes but I have a few miles done . I have done a 100 mile ride my trek came with the original bontrager tyres they were in ok condition but I wore out the rear and I got a blow out what ever it was ripped the tyre a little so I bought gator skin hardshells they are 25mm I was running 100psi but after some reading the comments on RUclips I decided to try 80psi front and 90psi in the rear . My review at those pressures I find the bike rides great it's more comfortable and I don't notice any loss of power . A lot of the rides I do the roads are not very well surfaced so I have learned to back off a bit no point it wrecking my bike the wheels will take a beating . That's why I went with hard shell to avoid pinch flats or side wall punture . From riding too much with no other exercises I locked up my back so now I'm back walking a lot and also doing yoga for lower back as well as core strength exercises and dumbbell workouts .I love cycling most of all but to be able to keep on enjoying it I have to be for and strong enough . This does not get mentioned enough .

    I got Gatorskins had em on bike for 3 years, Kenda Tyres which were always getting punctures, so far no punctures, as for performance I can't tell any difference but the roads are a rough round my way so thin Racing Tyres are not really the most intelligent choice for such conditions. I reckon these tyres are more cost effective on the long run.

    • @jjiampong4767

      I also used kenda tires and after 8 months of using there is a cut inside the tire. i switched to gator skin and i'm watching some reviews and insights on the performance of gatorskin.

    • @AdamJStoryDC
      @AdamJStoryDC  2 года назад

      Oh yeah. Yes. But there's some bad luck that you might have had too.

    • @fender1000100
      @fender1000100 Год назад

      I've never understood why people say I've gotten 2 flats in 500 miles. Flats are largely ABOUT LUCK. I rode the same route to and from work for 11 years. I went over 3 years without a flat. In one year I had 6 flats. Thats just the way it goes. That said the Armadillos are awesome tyres. They make your legs stronger. And soon you won't notice any differential. I have ridden over 5,000 miles on mine without a single flat.

  • @Zainphotography
    @Zainphotography 3 года назад

    This video was uploaded last year you might not even notice this comment but if you happen to read this then you have done a brilliant job explaning the difference. I am very new to the riding a road bike scene and with extremly low income I am feeling scared taking my new (used) bike to the road with mediocre tyres to ride to work because I am developing this puncture phobia and do not want to get stucked on the side of the road with a baby trailor attached while on my way to the childcare. People are suggesting Schwalbe Marathon plus and obviously Gatorskin tyres but you have mentioned Armadillos are good but a bit heavy. I am not a fast rider like you I am 96 Kilos and so i do not mind going slow speed. I am happy to invest in good tyres which can last long on the road (bike lanes) and buy an extra pair to keep in stock. What would be your suggestion?
