You may want to invest in 2 drive shaft loops, that way if it does spit it out, it'll just bounce around in those loops. You need plenty of initial timing with those, set your choke up correctly. Time it, go from there. May need to fool with the IAB if youre lucky you dont . With an electric choke and dist set up right you should only need 1 1/2 pump and fire off right away while it goes to high idle

    • @sloansgarage5116
      @sloansgarage5116  2 года назад +1

This cams operating range is 1600-5600. So I don't see why it wouldn't work with a stock converter. But I think you usually want a stall 500 rpm higher than the cams starting operating range. So like a 2200 stall would probably be perfect.

I literally just coat the cam it oil when I install it. Soak the lifters till I don't see anymore bubbles. To make sure the lifters are full of oil. Then adjust my rockers to a 1/2 turn past 0 lash. Drop the distributor in 10 to 12 degrees advanced. Stock usually is 6 to 8 degrees advanced. But i usually put a little more makes it little more snappy off idle. Get it running put 35 degrees full timing. Fyi Most older v8s make best power with 34 to 36 degrees advance. Then I go take it for a short drive. Then I double check my rockers. That's what I do atleast

They sell oils with high zinc for flat tappet engines. Generally there kinda expensive though. So you can put a bottle of zinc additive in your oil. Or I run rotella t4 diesel oil in my engines. You can get it pretty much anywhere. Diesel oils Generally have higher zinc and other anti wear additives that normal gas engine oils don't have. Plus it's cheap. They sell it in 15w40 everywhere where i live. But if you only want to run 10w30 you might have to order it online

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
crime here, called "Abgasbespaßungsverbots- und Kontrollverordnung" in German.

@@msh6865 I picked up a set of 049 oval port heads for my 454. Along with stainless headers, aluminum dual plane high rise intake, Demon 750 CFM carb. and of course the Mother Thumper for the heartbeat. I'm still putting it together and once i do that, it is being stuffed into a 53 Oldsmobile 2 Dr. sedan. Muncie 4 Spd. trans.

This is the smallest thumpr cam. Has great idle sound. Still worked well with stock valve springs for me. No valve float problems. Has good usable power and torque

It's good now. The problem was a dead battery and a unturned carb. It didn't like to start. Thanks for the comment 👍. Don't forget to subscribe

It's just headers going straight into a set of 2.5 inch summit racing knock off turbo mufflers. Has a nice deep tone and isn't too loud

Yeah I don't run it now. I was trying to clear the hood. But between that being a 2 inch filter and a drop base. Definitely was choking it out. Was very noticeable when driving it
