Thanks! Are you referring to the spacing? The chisels I'm using in this video are 5 mm spacing. The actual holes themselves are about 1mm. The WUTA sets come with both the hole punches and even smaller pricking chisel heads.
I absolutely get annoyed when making bags (so much stitching and I don't use a machine at all). But there is definitely a sense of accomplishment when one turns out line this.

It's called "casing". It prepares the leather to accept tooling/stamps. I put it in the bag to let the moisture fully penetrate the leather and not dry out. It's usually only a few hours. Some allow it to sit over night.

Correct; "5" is 5 mm center-to-center. I tend to use the 4 mm chisel for most work. The smaller/finer the project the smaller the stitches (generally)
