Saki, our Guitar Empress. She's not only one of the best technical guitarplayer in Japan, she's also one with the most "rock" spirit, her attack on the strings is always extremely wild, not at all the clean robotic touch of too many great technicians. And live she has an amazing stage presence . Mary's Blood was her "old" band but she's been involved in a new one for two years now, NEMOPHILA, and they're the most promising metal band in Japan.

A major Rock/Metal band in Japan. Formed in 2009 out of Destrose. They have toured in the US. They are now on a hiatus. Saki, guitarist, is the main composer and is one Japan's top guitarist. Saki's main gig now is Nemophila who you really need to react too; suggestions "Monsters" and "Dissension".
Saki also has a solo MV out "Brightness" you like guitar solos, you will love this one.
The reason Japan has so many great bands and musicians is that the arts are still taught in their schools. Talent is recognized early and encouraged. Not unusual for learning a musical instrument to begin at 3 yo. Plus there are acting, dance and music schools for kids as young as 6 yo.
If you react to a live MV of Mary's Blood, look for Yashiro who is the second guitar when they play concerts.
Don't know where you are, but Band Maid and Nemophila have announced they will be performing at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, Ca in October. Band Maid is also touring in the US this year!!!

I always love your passionate reactions. Saki is the guitar empress of J metal. In Mary's Blood, Saki maximizes her shredding to the next level on every song. In Nemophila, she shares spotlight with Hazuki and writes many experimental stuffs. She also has solo stuffs that are out of this world. I really think Saki/Hazuki and Miyako/Midori (Lovebite) will make this world better. Rock on 🤘 and peace ✌️.

Mary's Blood is currently on hiatus like Lovebites. The band has been rocking for over 12 years and live, they have Yashiro as a guest support guitarist, she has been asked multiple times to join but she is kinda busy, studio artist, solo artist and music teacher. Eye (vocal), Mari (drums) were in Destrose together (reminds you of someone else? Miho and Haruna 4 years later) Saki (guitar) joined in 2012 and was also a part timer in Destrose around 2010-11 and Rio (bass) joined in at the same time as Saki in March and were made officially members in Sept of that year.
Anything live from them is awesome and if I had to choose 1, Wings might be my go to. There is a version out there with a guest vocal, Sho from Galneryus, another great singer from a 20 year old band who does power metal that includes the best guitarist in the world atm for me: Syu (pronounced Shoe)

IMHO their best concert DVD is "Live At Blaze -Invasion Of Queen Tour 2015-2016 Final"
I currently see only two posts of songs "Bloody Birth Day" & "Moebius Loop", from this on the Necro Phil channel. Both are excellent. Note: The name of the song isn't in the title, but can be found if hit "show more" in the post description.
Unfortunately, "Promised Land" from the same concert is no longer posted. There are several reviews up. If anyone has a copy, I suggest sending it. Saki's guitar solo on that is worth a jumbo ear-gasm.

Easy to answer your question. The US has defunded most of it's music programs in education, and rock and metal are not that popular in the US anymore. It's just not what the youth there are into. Put those two things together and you are not going to get a lot of anyone under a certain age playing instruments at that level. Japan by comparison still places a lot of emphasis on music education and most kids playing at least one musical instrument. Especially girls. And they still have the discipline and patience to master a musical instrument. Also, rock and metal still have a good underground scene in Japan.

The song is about ending a toxic relationship with a dominant partner: "I shall never be your marionette again", so, female emancipation (an often topic with Japanese all-female metal bands). The bass symbolizes the "male" side: Dominant, dark, monotonous but strong. The guitar the "female" side and the battle against each other.

I thought you might like Saki´s sexy shreddy solos. Eye´s voice is not exactly light and bright, that´s for sure. :-) Rio is a very solid bass guitarist and Mari has a lot of stamina and skills. There is also the second guitarist for live performances Yashiro who usually stands in the background, but is certainly not a second rate guitarist, just saying There is also Amahiru project with Saki. I believe that you will not regret listening to some more of their songs. ;-)

They have been around since around 2009, but sadly they announced in Dec. on various social media and video platforms that in April,They will be holding their last live performance at Toyosu Pit, Tokyo on April 9, 2022 as they will be going on permanent hiatus due to too long of breaks due to pandemic, and constant stats of emergency by the Japan govnt. causing many cancled shows. most everyone has started various other projects, such as Saki with Nemophila, so it is not like they wont be around, but they wont be around together as Mary's Blood. so in the meantime i would check out their library of music and you wont be disappointed.

I just love your takes and 'not like a F'n chorus line'- That's classic!! The one common thread I've found with Japanese bands is their absolute dedication to perfection of their craft. It's a cultural thing, like Samuraii. I'm not saying other countries and bands aren't amazing, but there is something about the way the Japanese approach skilled\craft\art work. Crazy amazing female musicians on all instruments. Checkout 'Lovebites and Wagakki band. Just insane. Not that I let my listening to them interfere with listening to my favorite Russian NYC based rock soprano! 😅❤

(Note: Sadly, Mary’s Blood just announced they will give a final concert and then call it quits. They were one of the top tier Japanese metal bands for many years I was lucky enough to see them in late 2019 when they headlined Metal Matsuri. They were in god-mode that night. RIP MB, and best of luck to Eye, Mari, Rio and Saki in their future endeavors!)
Mary’s Blood were the first successful band to spin out of the legendary Destrose. (Later spinouts include Disqualia, Mardelas, Fate Gear and Lovebites.) Mary’s Blood had some early personnel changes but settled into a stable lineup consisting of Eye (vocals), Saki (guitar), Rio (bass) and Mari (drums). It’s safe to say Saki is one of the top shredders in the world, and Rio and Mari are a great, heavy-hitting back line, one of the best right now.
Saki has several other projects, including her own solo work, which veers more in the progressive/fusion direction. She is also involved as a founder of Nemophila, one of the newest Japanese metal bands that is attracting a lot of notice.
When they tour, they are joined by Yashiro on second lead guitar (that’s why you see five women on stage in live performances). Yashiro is an instructor at Tokyo College of Music and has declined a number of offers to join a band full time. She teaches many of the young, up and coming female guitarists.
I’ve seen them live and they are mind-blowing. Here is “Rolling Start”, live. It’s got a strong Guns N Roses vibe-except even higher energy:

Even though it sounded like you only asked for all-female bands from Japan, I hope it's also OK to recommend all-female metal bands from other countries. I'd like to start with the Swedish band Ice Age who started in 1987 and were - to my knowledge - the first all-female Thrash Metal band. They didn't get beyond demo-status back then and split up. They "reformed" a few years ago, yet with only two of the original members left and a male drummer and released their first album. I'd like to recommend the official videoclip (from 1989!) of my favourite song "Instant Justice": ruclips.net/video/7C8kK7lXZRQ/видео.html Since the singer Debbie Gunn and one of the guitarists in this clip weren't from the original line-up, I also recommend this live version of the same song (also from 1989) featuring the original line-up: ruclips.net/video/7C8kK7lXZRQ/видео.html While, as far as old school metal and thus also Thrash Metal is concerned, Lovebites (whom you have already heard playing Thrash Metal) play in a league of their own, Ice Age proved already more than 30 years ago that women can play Thrash Metal very well! And while I'm at it, the all-female band Meanstreak from the US, who released their one and only album "Roadkill" in 1988, also deserve to be mentioned in this context. Their longest song "The Congregation" on that album is also my favourite one: ruclips.net/video/rwg5J7E7FpU/видео.html I especially like the rather clean, yet very powerful vocals. Fun fact: three members of Meanstreak married members of Dream Theater.
An even more obscure all-female metal band whose only album "Transitions" (released in the 90ies) I also like are Mother Earth. Here's their song "Beyond Dark": ruclips.net/video/cu8nWCVxE_o/видео.html A bit tamer than Ice Age and Meanstreak, but not too polished for my taste. Finally I'd also like to mention Phantom Blue. Just like Lovebites, they had two lead guitarists - Michelle Meldrum (RIP) and Nicole Couch - who could shred very well, as e.g. in the song "Frantic Zone" (from their debut album, released in 1989): ruclips.net/video/iVpolsfQX_M/видео.html (about the 2 minutes-mark) Since the songs on their debut had been rather short, I had hoped they'd become more complex on their next album, but that didn't happen, maybe also because Grunge nearly killed old school metal in the early nineties.
Though not even many old school metal fans know these bands, I think they deserve to be mentioned here, because they played metal at a time when the metal-scene was nearly entirely dominated by all-male bands. There were a couple of metal bands with female vocalists back then, but even those were just a small minority. I'm sorry this got a bit long, but I also wanted to include a bit of background information.
