am a 4th yr medical student, and it is really beneficial for me to revise preclinical and clinical info in this organized way, thank you for ur great work
I enjoyed your lecture. I had aplastic anemia of unknown etiology from early 1975 until mid-1977. I was studying at McGill University in Montreal at the time. Fortunately I was being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal which is also a McGill University teaching hospital and a very short distance from McGill. I was an outpatient in the oncology clinic all of that time (after an initial 3 weeks iin the hospital). During that time I received transfusions of frozen, washed RBC approximately every 4-6 weeks. I had a couple of platelet transfusions early in my treatment, but none after the first few weeks. I was given Oxymetholone orally, but switched to Norethandrolone (Nilevar) for the rest of my treatment. I recovered without having to have a transplant (my sister would have been the donor) and have bee well ever since. I owe the doctors at "The Royal Vic' all of my gratitude.
Dear Dr Rabiul Haque, Thank you for your best efforts with simple explanations, new victim of Aplastic the questions in laymans mind like me and it's very informative. God bless you your family friends and my bro country Bangladesh.
Thanks for taking the time. I feel like I know you already. I study nutrition and your videos have been very useful. Blessings, for you and you family. Greetings from Puerto Rico.
Great video. I was able to follow along very well. I got a little lost in the "blood picture" portion but I didn't get scared away, thanks to the teddy bear, lol Thanks, I learned a lot. Blessings!
She was 47 years old and lot of blood transfusions done. She suffered from about 5 years. We come to this disease before 2 years of her dearth. Before 5 years her RBC's are reduced gradually. Then after years together her Platelets started to reduce. Later then her WBC, then the situation became worse at the last stage. At her last time she wants to live and want to do more good deeds so that to go heaven but ALlah decided to take her. Before dying ie about 1 month she told us to take her away from hospital and want to die in his home town. Before dying she told us to clear her small debts. That's it she passed away and her case is in the hands of Allah.
Sir in Robbins in aplastic anemia, insted of leukonia, its given as "neutropenia"..could u pls explain it? And why there are some areas of hypercellularity in bone marrow??
Dr, Rabiul ,u told BMT should be done to a patient who is below 40 years but in HCG, Banglore hospital , a patient with Lucamea at the age of about 70 years looking so old done BMT and she is very well walking after BMT.
My condolences about her passing away. I pray that your mother remains in jannat ( heaven ) and rests in peace. Regarding your question : I mentioned that age restriction taking note from Haematology Text Book. It is written 'BMT' tend to restricted to patients under 40 years ' (in most cases) Because BMT can have a lot of complications in older patients. Even if patient looks ok after initial BMT , Graft vs Host reaction may develop after a while since it is tough to get perfectly compatible donor ( unless identical twins for example ) . I am having net problem in my pc. So have to write using phone . I will try to give you some more info tomorrow hopefully. But BMT in older age groups do occur in some cases when the risk of BMT seems low ( eg perfect HLA compatible donor) . Take care . Bye.
***** May Allah Reward u Yes indeed the old women got 6/6 match and the BMT became success and that old women got only one brother and Allah saved that women...
Hello, Thank you for liking my video. I will try to add some image slides about ATG in Rx of Aplastic Anaemia in my facebook page facebook.com/Pathology.Tutorials soon. Thanks for your feed back. Best wishes from Bangladesh.
We tried 4 siblings of our mother but there is no match. Later Doctors told us to do HLA typing of ours ie childrens. Then my sisters 4/6 matched and the doctors told it is Haploid. My mother's condition became worse and worse and doctors refused to do BOne Marrow transplantation at that condition.
...thank you sir..
(Close Blood relatives: grandparents, parents, children, siblings, aunts and uncles, first cousins, or nieces and nephews)) Please consult your physician for further clarification as medical science is changing very rapidly and new knowledges are getting discovered everyday. Take care and stay safe.
