Jason Weaver is a legend. And why nobody talking about Smart Guy too. Loved that show. Love him. Always seems like a guy with a lot of integrity and picks really great things to play.
They actually wanted Jason to do the role in its entirety but had already signed on Jonathan Taylor Thomas before his audition. Unfortunate, but not uncommon. They can’t always count on finding young children who can both act and sing well.
Wow. Hell of a story. I’ve always been astounded by his performance as young MJ! Especially in that scene where he performed “Who’s Loving You?” He absolutely killed it on that song! & the fact that it was filmed days before production wrapped & he recorded The Lion King right after because Elton John was there on set is really cool!
It lines up pretty well, but kind of weird no one has ever mentioned he did this way before the movie even came out. It matters, because his voice changed by 1994 when the movie finally came out and he no longer could do those vocals again.
@joewhitehead3 True, but the vocals he had in October 1992 when he recorded for Lion King were truly unique, right? When you listen to 1992 demo with Jason's raw vocals, you'll hear so clearly everything he put into the song.
MET HIM IN THE HAVANA CLUB IN ATLANTA ABOUT 20+ YEARS AGO AND JOKED WITH HIM ABOUT BEING ON THE TV SHOW "THEA" WITH THEA VIDALE. HE JOKED THAT THE NEXT TIME I SAW HIM WOULD BE PLAYING A ROLE IN "ATL" AND THAT WOULD BE MUCH DIFFERENT FROM PLAYING MJ 😂😂😂 HE TOLD ME TO COME BACK TO ATL AS I WAS GETTING READY TO DEPLOY TO IRAQ. GOOD DUDE!
It’s January 2024 and I am only JUST NOW learning that the kid that played MJ in that Jackson 5 movie was the same kid that did Simba’s singing voice from the Lion King! WHAT???!!! MIND=BLOWN!!
Hes the best person to play mj along with the billie jean era from the same movie. The same guy was off the wall mic but he wasnt as gd in that era but he captured the awkward moments well. An american dream is a reall great movie
@@nwezetx1 I correct myself he may have recorded his bits in 1992 BUT Disney released the film in 1994! Which is what I was referring to the release date! So it is not 92 or 95 but 94.
@rosiecheeks.k Oh, so you're referring to him being featured as a singer in 1994? Sure, makes sense. As otherwise, yeah he recorded all of his bits in October 1992. Literary by 1994, his voice got deeper and he lost out on future singing opportunities with Simba, aside from royalties.
Please correct the volume? I'm on an HP and my volume is up as high as it will go, and I don't want, or know, how to add my laptop to my other TV. It's so low it's not worth it. Maybe if in the middle of the night, but I have to sleep. If I remember to come back and am bored I may try it then. But seriously, it's no traffic here, but it's still too low it not worth straining to hear you
Also with a child in the background makes it even worse. Seriously, you sang Broadway but have no clue how to volumize your videos. Please use one of those knobs you have in front of you to project the sound better, OK??????
So glad Jason Weaver's sharing this beautiful history piece.
He’s so legendary
This is the first I'm hearing of this story. Kudos to King Elton for recommending Jason Weaver for singing Simba.
His song on "I can't wait to be King" did sounded like something Michael as a kid would sing.
I bet Michael would voice Simba if he was born much later
@@ashlynwolff Or if the film was made much sooner
@@joewhitehead3 So right 👍
When I was a kid I actually used to think that a young Michael Jackson voiced Simba 😂
I see what you did there
Jason sung the SHIT out that song
He always has such great/positive energy, and has a great relationship with God❤️
Yesssss❤
who?
Yeeeees!! ❤❤

You gotta see his video with Chingy called "one call away". He's so underrated
He had such an adorable talking voice too. JTT did too, but Jason's voice was so endearing it would've fit young Simba so well. Disney's loss.
They actually wanted Jason to do the role in its entirety but had already signed on Jonathan Taylor Thomas before his audition. Unfortunate, but not uncommon. They can’t always count on finding young children who can both act and sing well.
@@starkman78 oh wow, didn’t even know that:
The ONLY kid who can play young Michael.
Jason is such an amazing talent!!!

Damn that’s so dope I never would’ve known that 🔥💯 I didn’t even realize that was him sing all these years
I’ve been a fan of Weaver forever

This man's voice never changed😅😅
It surely did before Lion King came out, because his voice was different on Thea with Brandy.
Jason weaver has an amazing singing voice ❤ ❤ ❤

That movie was great he definitely killed all his parts
He is talented and yet, humble. Humble, a rare quality for a man of his profession. ❤❤❤
What a BLESSING! 🙏🏾
This guy does not get the recognition he deserved
Im sure he wants to be obscure. Why would you want to be constantly watched as a celeb? At lesst he's known but not followed all the time.
@@sparco956 no, the sound on his videos is bad, very bad, poor. Sucks,
I love these stories
I absolutely ❤️ you and can’t wait to see you in some more projects!
I just adore him! Bless up!
Really fantastic singer
I was today yrs old to find out this is the voice of Simba singing!
Has Jason Weaver ever done Broadway? Usually that's what people with his skill set do when they aren't doing films.
I wanna hear Warthog Rhapsody tf. Jason did such an amazing job 👏
I had the biggest crush on him when I saw the Jackson movie - I was 8 years old😅
Same
One of my favorite childhood actors. Blessup king
AMAZING STORY 😍✊🏾🙏🏾💪🏾🐐🙌🏾🎤🎶🥳👍🏾
Sheesh one of my first crushes lol
Such a great talent!! Loved the Jacksons movie and so happy with the great deal he got with The Lion King!
Man, I knew that wasn't JTT singing like that 😅
Jason Weaver was brilliant in the Jackson’s movie. Also, I must’ve worn out the VHS watching that movie every weekend as a kid.
His talking voice is even powerful. Wow
I ❤️ his stories
Wow!! What a great story!!
Jason is a true Legend!!
i have that same beastie boys shirt hes wearing lol
Love this
Listen. I would STILL risk it all for this man.

Good 👍 job brother 👏
Vanguard Museum Locked in 🇧🇸
Jason Weaver in childhood = Michael Jackson in childhood
too bad he wasn't heard after. He could make as great singer
He did make it after as a singer. He just love actin more
Back then that acting money was better than music money and he is still getting loin king money
He was in Chingys song “One Call Away” ♥️
He actually released an album under Motown in 1995 and he’s been in many tv shows and movies even up till recently
Everything works onGods timings it is not by chance that the equipment stopped working that day and he had to sing live. God is so good!
Here's my question, why couldn't Jason voice Simba as well????🤔
Literally only realised this guy was Simba in 95 Lion King wow!
1992, not 1995.

He sounds like Ralph Tresvant
Wow 😯.
Wow!
Good his voice benefit him as a singer. But his speaking voice as a adult is a bit annoying and whinny
