The Terrifying Case Of Dan Markel

  • Tallahassee, Florida, is normally a quiet, rural suburb. But when a university professor is left bleeding uncontrollably on his driveway, that would all change. The man’s name, is Dan Markel, a seemingly popular man with two young sons and all to live for. Police are left with no clues, suspects, DNA, and only one vague witness. This case would not be solved quickly or easily. The police would need to use their experience and patience to get to the bottom.

Donna Adelson has been indicted today by a Grand Jury in Leon County, November 15 2023, for first degree murder, conspiracy and solicitation of murder. She was arrested yesterday along with her husband at the airport, at 10:30 pm Monday November 13, 2023 -- with one way tickets to Vietnam, only one week after her son Charlie (the dentist) was convicted of murder for hire. Wendy is likely considered a suspect and is still at large. She is probably under FBI surveillance. So it looks like someone (73 yr old Donna?) may need to cut a deal and squeal on her daughter. This story in its detail is even more hateful than anyone could have expected. Parents, share responsibilities, and drop the strife. You could save a life

donna might answer for it, but i dont think wendi will. i watched the trial, and her on the stand. a few things that were very evident to me were; wendi is very charming and extremely intelligent, and she knows the law very very well. so well, that if she had been charged, and chose to represent herself and took the stand as she did for the other trials of the assailants, that there would be no possible way that all jurors would find her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. her "act" on the stand was by the books. i think the state knows this, and with only one ace card in their hand ( her ex's testimony), they would need her brother to provide some very damning evidence on their behalf because they only get one shot to prove her guilty and that one ace is not enough. only time will tell!

He got killed for his right to be with his kids. He didn't even fight the 50/50 until Wendi tried to take off with them. Compromises only work if both parties stay in their lanes. Unfortunately it seems Donna's poisonous entitlement that seeped into her children is the root cause. This case is all about motherhood, and how it can be weaponized into evil. Sadly Dan's mom was the only innocent & good mother in this story and she lost her son. The world sucks sometimes.

Updates: The brother in law, Charlie, ended up with a life sentence for first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and solicitation of first-degree murder. He’s currently in the process of appealing, but this is extremely unlikely to be successful, as new evidence came out during his trial that pretty much directly implicated him in the murder-for-hire scheme. The mother in law, Donna, was caught whilst trying to flee to Vietnam, a non-extradition country, after the son’s conviction. She is also facing a life sentence for first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder, but we still have to see how the trial plays out. A true coward, trying to run, and desert what little remains of her family as the walls are finally closing in. And unfortunately Wendi, the daughter/ex-wife, has yet to see any justice.

@Statistics Tell a Story Good question. The answer is, Kathrine was sentenced to life without parole based on the phone call she had with the hitman who sang.
It wasn't based on the checks signed by Donna. Like Midnyte Vega says, we all know Donna is guilty, but there's a reason they have to prove it before convicting her.
They don't want a situation where they sentence Donna before proof, and she gets a defense that can present evidence that it was the brother who made up a story for her to sign the checks, and we have a mistrial.
They need to prove it wasn't all the brother's doing with the planning of the checks first, in order to avoid this.
Also, it is to get the casework straight (in this completely unique and difficult sort of tragedy) for the purpose of ultimately finding more proof that the ex was involved with the murder more than just one testimony that they can't verify at the moment.

The fact that she wanted the last names changed, tells me she had less than just "irreconcilable differences" and a mere falling out with her ex husband. It tells me she was planning to get away from him and had a lot of help from her family. The only thing I'm not really sure on, is if she had her motivations planted by her mother or if she was orchestrating them herself, no doubt her mother played a role and was poisoning the well of the marriage, trying to get it to end. If you once loved someone, you don't try and cut them out completely. And there is absolutely zero evidence that Dan was in any way abusive. My guess is that Wendi and her family all agreed that he wasn't measuring up to "their" expectations and they all wanted to disassociate.

@@scallopohare9431Yes. The funny thing about malignant narcissists (I suspect) like Wendi, is they are incredibly charming. She has had a very successful career, even a television appearance, a robust resume with prestigious appointments and honors. And she does have a lot of people on her side, even to this day. This case is so incredible for me for these twists and turns with people covering for each other, deepest, darkest secrets and then this public facade as they carry out their plan to publicly deny all involvement. The Adelsons are horrified that this came back to them. It wasn't part of the plan to trace the shooters back to the Miami area and link them to the family! Hold on- going to be a crazy ride with Katie's confession and cooperation and Charlie's upcoming trial! We'll find out the truth about Wendi soon enough. Pay attention folks. The checks were for $10K to Katie, before and after the murder. The checks did not have a memo stating it was for the murder of Dan. There's no evidence that will stand up in court to convict the ex-MIL of paying Katie to arrange the murder. The police must get some form of communication between the 2 women, or Katie must offer testimony against the ex-MIL.

I didn't know she had been planning this. I got home and was shocked and devastated. She put everything in a secret storage and moved my kids around so I could never find them. I called the cops but they said since we were still married it was not kidnapping and therefore could not do anything. I filed for divorce and the court issued a search for her and my kids. I was issued immediate full custody till our divorce was final. During the two years it took to get divorced, she Hotlined me to DFS for child abuse. Thankfully she did not want me dead but she was a very vindictive bitch. I later found out she had met someone else months before she took off with my kids.
