    I'm a male, I was in an abusive relationship with a female for a couple of years. She only physically attacked me when she knew I was leaving for good. Luckily I was twice her size and she didn't use a weapon so I was not hurt. But the damage of putting up with her using the other methods described so clearly in this video was bad enough so everyone male and female keep an eye out for those signs and make plans to leave and be ready because once they realize they can't control you anymore it definitely increases the risk of them using physical violence. Obviously this clip does explain it pretty well just wanted to add my 2 cents in to reinforce it.

    • @marisaJ1
      @marisaJ1 Год назад +23

      @mpmikeb1290 Not always. I've worked with domestic abusers before and there aren't always signs. Sometimes controlling behaviour can be masked as just being attentive and caring. Love bombing can completely mask someone who is incredibly dangerous. Sometimes abusers are triggered by pregnancy, jealousy, job loss, alcohol and mental health and these things aren't always apparent immediately. Also you may not be able to identify controlling or abusive behaviour. You may have also grown up in an environment where domestic abuse was the norm. Abuse can be financial as well as physical, sexual or physical. It doesn't look the same in every relationship. A lot of the abusers I worked with presented themselves as calm, caring individuals who get on well with others. You'd only know how dangerous they were from their previous convictions and a police background check. I had one offender that murdered 1 person & tried to kill his wife and children when he became psychotic. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia afterwards.

The guy was a raging lunatic - but he was ripped, jacked, and an athlete. Hannah most likely ignored the normal and "nice guys" and married Rowan. This tragic set of circumstances happened in my town, 15 minutes from where I now live and in a suburb where I had lived previously. I remember the day it happened, the entire Brisbane community was in shock and mourning while being simultaneously horrified and utterly outraged at the father (he doesn’t deserve a name). Hannah, Aaliyah, Lianah, and Trey will always be in our hearts and minds. Their traumatic deaths and her parents strong advocacy has lead to coercive control laws being introduced in Queensland in an attempt to prevent these types of events and to prosecute those who continually behave coercively towards their partner. May their precious souls rest in peace 🙏🏻

Hannah already knew her chosen man who had an ex-wife, and even lived with his ex-wife but she really wanted him. Just to have a muscular guy beside him probably made her feel proud somehow. But I don't really see her as a good mother since she let her kids be abused by the father regularly and often excused his behavior. Despite already have 3 children, she's one of those woman who always thinks about herself ie her life, her man, her husband, instead of thinking - I'm a mother. Probably why so many children grew up in such a broken household with traumatic memories of witnessing their parents abusive and toxic relationship. I noticed when watching the part were Hannah and her ex husband were talking together about there gym I could clear see in his eyes and expressions he was totally jealous of when she spoke cause she was clearly so much better at what she did not just in the gym. but in everyway and that angered him. In a normal relationship a good husband 😌 would simply be so proud 👏 of there wife. Instead of being jealous he could have learnt from her but with his ego and angered jealous nature that was not to be just quite the opposite. I'm a father of a 7 year old daughter and I and my partner respect each other. All ways help each other and if one knows more then another at times we learn from each other. That makes use smarter and more powerful as a couple. This was very hard to watch this. It brought tears 😢 to my eyes for Hannah and her kids. The least I can do is watch this and give my condolences 🙏 RIP HANNAH AND KIDS.

    I live 7 miles from Camp Hill. This rocked Brisbane, Queensland & Australia. The whole country was angry, hurt & in shock for days & weeks after the attack. Rowan Baxter became the most hated man in Australia instantly. Unfortunately, for all the work that Hannah's parents have put in, very little has changed in the area of domestic violence, as far as the law is concerned. Australia should be ashamed of our inability to learn from our mistakes. We continue to be soft on crime & are currently in the grip of a youth crime pandemic.

For the sake of my kids I went along with his demands and tried to keep the peace while behind the scenes I managed to make a plan to escape from him. I had the support of family and friends and I also have to acknowledge that God kept us safe and gave me wisdom and insight on how to handle the situation. When I left people thought I was relieved. In actual fact I felt guilty for leaving and was fearful of retribution that could take place. I never slept much those first few months and would wake up in a cold sweat thinking that I could hear someone breaking in. My son and I were diagnosed with PTSD and had to go onto meds for severe anxiety.
    In the beginning he swept me off my feet, treated me like a princess I thought that was the real him for years. When the mask began to slip I would always hear those words "I'm sorry baby, but you just make me so angry. You make me act like that" I thought if I could just be a better wife, if I could just make him love me... Thats what Narcissists do. You don't even realize what you are experiencing is abuse. You are brainwashed into thinking that YOU are the problem, thats why so many of us don't leave. We always want to believe that there is hope things will change, that there is good in people. The aggressor will often “lovebomb” the victim after the abuse. Gifts, apologies, promises never to do it again and they can be very convincing so then another chance is given. And the cycle repeats. Fear is another reason. Think about being terrified to the Max and multiply that by millions. Often times the victims families and friends and kids are the first ones to be threatened if they choose to leave…so our fear of that…they stay. Then you have reverse psychology where the abuser manipulates the person into believing they deserved it and it’s ALL their fault… u get my point? It’s sooooo many reasons. His personality changed either over time or becaue of the steroids which steroids will make the person act up, and be way too aggressive.
      Then Hanna stays because the change is slow and gradual or she loves him and misses the old (false) self. Add in kids and she hopes they can stay as a family. He seem to change after they had kids so he probably was hiding his true self but not enough because people saw it. He just wasn’t capable of love at all because children require love and his narc self couldn’t handle not being in the spotlight.
      Then it became too late for Hanna to safely get out because this guy has become so delusional from reality and drugs. I think she stayed because at first it wasn’t bad and it gradually got worse then extreme but by that point he’s too fixated at her. It's truly heartbreaking (and infuriating) 😣

      So true. A family member of mine was in a long-term relationship that gradually turned abusive and when she had had enough, she called the authorities in a panic. I kid you not, they showed up nearly an hour later, called her phone through a blocked number, and swiftly left because she didn’t answer the call. Didn’t even bother to knock or ring the bell. She ended up driving to the police station herself with bruises on her body. Terrible.

    Ok, this is the very first time after watching literally hundreds of true crime videos on multiple RUclips channels that I wept, openly. First of all, I can relate to her story on so many levels. I can’t even begin to tell you. Like Hannah, I did not believe that I was a victim of abuse, because there weren’t any scars. For 10 years, I was sexually abused, nightly. Forced to have sex against my will, and if I dared to refuse, I was kept awake all night in many different ways. Oh my God! I can’t even believe the feelings that this video has caused …brought to the surface. It’s a very long story, but I was finally able to get out but not before ending up in a shelter. This could have very easily been me.
    I tried so many times to get out. Police, doctors, counselors, family members, so many times I tried to get out! The control factor is just unbelievable. Mind control, financial control, isolation… The weapons that they use against you is absolutely insane . Thank you for doing this story. I’m so sorry for her family. I’m so so sorry. I almost feel like I have survivors guilt right now as I make this post. There are no words to describe how I’m feeling right now. I’m just so sorry for Hannah’s family. I feel sick right now. I’m just so sorry.
