David Handley Thanks David, I did not want to bother to set up the cnc, or take the time to build a pantorouter, so this was my next choice. I came out OK. You are welcome any time David:)
I'm going to wait for it to warm up for a couple more weeks, but I have a couple to fix myself. Great video, mine are nailed to the wall too, I think it's a trend.
Brian Jones We just had 3 days above 20 degrees, and it inspired me to start this job, that I have painted over year after year. Are you located in Europe?, as this is pretty common over here
izzy swan Thank you Izzy.I think I saw you in the same one back in a video about your ultimate tablesaw fence. I have to admit that I have got a feeling its not my wifes first choice of my apareal, although it could be worn by both genders:)
Hello, I want to cut a wood shutter, i bought standard one and i need to cut about 20cm. Can you teach me please how to disassemble and cut off without let any marks? Thank you!
Olly Parry-Jones Thanks Olly. I think the major reason is the use of poor quality wood. The shutters where mounted maybe 25-30 years ago, so they held up pretty good, but the poorest wood suffered first in this case.Since the rail was i worst shape, my buess is that this one started to rot first, and then exposed the endgrain at the bottom of the stile, sucking up water like a straw. And the moisture getting trapped underneath the paint, damaged the wood from inside
Bellevue Woodshop I did wonder about the orientation of the rails and stiles, as we'd normally have the stiles overhanging the ends of the rails, on a door or window. But then, the other side looks okay and you have made a good repair.
Splendid as always Roy....thanks a million for the shout-out, means alot! I thought I saw somewhere that you were in Norway, is this true? Thought I had seen you wear a Michigan shirt, just as cold here!
***** Thanks Tyler, You are very welcome, and I hope more stop by you channel. You are correct, 100% born and raised Norwegian. My wife brought me back the Michigan jacket after a visit to Detroit
$58.00 a pair vinyl at home depot. Just sayin. Was going g to fix mine, but I'm not spending all the money in wood to make jigs and paint and glue. The vinyl ones look just the same as wood ones.
It came out great. Ingenious technique for mortising the slots.
WoodRodent Thank you very much Sir. It worked out great....and I have to admit that its the first time I use the mortiser since i built it 3 years ago
You did an outstanding job on this project and explained it so even I could understand each step. Thanks for showing us how you did this.
Ron Briz Thank you Ron, I am glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching and commenting

I'm in Kansas USA, but I live in a historical Victorian home.
Really creative, I would never have thought of using the slot mortise for this. . Maybe you could do a video of your slot mortise machine.
CaliSpecial Thank you very much. I might do a video of it in the future, but no promises:)

A very clean repair! But a part of me still wonders why it rotted in the first place. Did you have any thoughts on this?

This is so legit… but I got 38 shutters on my house that need this level of repair. Ain’t happenin’ 😂

PVC ones are great I am sure, but the closest HomeDepot is a 7 Hour flight away, across the atlantic:):)
