The first NZ NASCAR driver was killed here in June 1985. One of his goals was to run the Cup race in November that year. Finally, a Kiwi is racing here in cup.
Before his scrape with the wall he had the equal fastest lap time with xx.135 .. so was looking good for a strong finish .. was happy to see him very strong today. I don't know that he made a risky move to hit the wall .. it looked a lot like car in front slowed and to avoid hitting the brakes or the car in front he tried to go around and there wasn't enough grip.
