- I bought a $945 Pokemon Mystery Box on eBay with the promise of WOTC Packs and PSA WOTC cards. I will open every pack and we'll see if there is more value opened or if we kept everything sealed. Let's see if this mystery box is trash or cash?

Those single packs might have been weighted or specifically chosen out (the sun and moon booster box had this pull pattern in the order of the packs), which guarantees hits and misses for the packs, might have been the reason of the bad pull rates
Those bad rates on the opened packs makes me think they have a way to sort the packs (weight or some other method) to guarantee they only sell less value packs

Sometimes it's just bad luck .plus alot of the newer sets aren't weighable bc of the color coded code cards. They weigh differently the green code cards in packs with hits are lighter and the regular code cards are heavier this offset masks the weight difference so that all packs have the same or similar weight . There are however a few sets where they messed up
thats actually true if you will go to card cons they always say "heavy pack "
You are pretty much guaranteed to lose money on every pack. Probably not worth their reputation to fix the packs in any way as they are already making more profit selling sealed.
Some sets were mapped, I remember the card shop I went to would shuffle the packs in their Sun and Moon boosters boxes as once a customer found one GX they could pick the rest of the GX packs out.
Many MTG sets were even more mappable where you could know what every rare card was and the location of it within the box just by buying one pack.

As far as collection goals go, I'm trying to finish my first complete series. I have about 80% of the list of Rebel Clash so pretty excited to see the completed binder. Great video btw got a bit nostalgic seeing that dark arbok card, first holo I opened from the rocket series.
That was a pretty cool box to open, even if there weren’t many hits! LOVE those vintage card slabs. 🙏 My collection goal is the same as what some other people have said: streamline, hold myself back from buying everything, and focus on what I really love to collect!

this is the perfect video for my 2 boys to watch.
almost weekly my kids are tying to convince me to let them buy pokemon cards. they have it in their brains that they are going to open a pack and score a 20 000 dollar card.
honest videos like this show how much of a gamble it is. and that 99.9% of the time you are going to throw money into the trash.

I have No specific Goal, but to add to my collection. The Love for Pokémon just came back to me and i love the nostalgia. Dug up my folder with the most valuable cards I have and going through them with all the memories.. haha, it was great! Also playing the Games again, Platinum and Emerald. 😍 Btw my favorite cards are the Delta Species. Anybody remember those?
Another great video, Pat! My collection goal this year is to actually slow down and not overdo it. It's easy to get excited about every product and overspend. I want to dial in on sets I'm truly excited about and more so focus on completing my vintage childhood collections like the Neo era.

@@187mrsmith id never buy a singular pack for that much. maybe a 8-10pack for that much and from a good booster box like silver tempest, radiance, lost origin or something. dont know too much about pokemon cards. i was more of a yugioh collector but some of these new pokemon cards are dope.

It's basically to feel young again that's why all these older ppl with money pay that much also with the hope they'll pull 1 of the legendary 1s that could get u rich!
I've opened a few vintage packs in the last few years I did it because I enjoyed it. I wanted to go back to reopen the packs I did when I was a kid growing up. I knew I probably wouldn't get the value but I loved doing and have have pulled a few vintage holos from it.

I recently started collecting again, the nostalgia kicked back in after playing the recent games again. I started of well with a celebrations ETB which contained 2 greninja promos! I also pulled a charizard from the included packs! I'm planning on starting a rotom collection, either loose or graded, hes my favorite. loved seeing you open this huge box, definitely a new fan.

I'm trying to get every Pikachu I can find. My son who passed away 3 years ago was a HUGE Pikachu fan so I am collecting them all in his memory. I have his ashes in a custom PokeBall and I plan on making a memorial garden in our yard with the PokeBall and some Pikachu cards. Thank you for all the tips and pack openings. YOU ROCK!

I just started collecting Pokemon last year and I'm trying to learn how to play since I already play and collect MTG, my daughters really love to help me collect and are interested in learning how to play as they get older my Pokemon collection will be going to them. So my goal is to get a larger collection with my daughters! Awesome videos I enjoy watching and learning keep up the good work!
I'm trying really hard to get every piplup card so I can make a nice frame for all of them. He's my favourite and I'm debating going for a PSA 10 slab of the Blastoise Piplup SR to go in the middle. That's the main collection goal!

I've come to my conclusion all the boxes that cost money or trash if you get a $20 Box you can get some decent stuff but you're better off buying individual packs they have better hits Because a booster Box always has like 4 to 6 guarantee hits u just gotta hope u 1 of the 6 boxs it seems like they just put pre determined packs 2 get they money back
Where are you getting this information about guaranteed hits? Sounds like an urban legend.
My collection goal this year is actually to see my son pull his first charizard. We opened 12 shining fates etbs and had no luck (although we did get lots of other great cards).
I pre-ordered a booster box of brilliant stars for my boy, so fingers crossed he gets to pull a zard 🤞

Good luck I can't even find one celebration pack or etb there are a few targets around that says they have them in stock so maybe check that out but be careful for resealed returns.
I recently got my wife to help sort my old Pokemon cards and hoping to collect for my new little kiddos and this video helped convince her! Hoping to fill in base set pieces and start silver tempest this year!

My collection goal this year isn't to focus on value of cards in the collection but the cards of the pokemon I enjoy and cherish
That’s what i’ve decided too. I used to just want to collect everything on the planet, but I realized trying to be the greatest collector in the world isn’t in my best interest. Instead I just want the stuff I like, I only collect Steelers football cards and specific pokemon

I wanna buy my first booster box ever this year, I wanna buy it from fusion strike because you can get much different cards. I'm saving money to buy that box and It will be amazing to win, I'm a big fan of the channel watch your videos for over a year and I want better cards for in my deck (I play also the TCG) haven't got much chance to open must packs in 2021

Dude.. please just buy singles. Buy the cards you want so you don't get hosed in the end. It'll be cheaper in the long run
My one collection goal for this year is to get my hands on some old cards that I've always wanted in my childhood but never pulled. Also buy a few Japanese packs since I only have like 1 Japanese card that I got from a friend (Rockets Zapdos, beautiful card imo)

I would love to complete the set.
Secondary goal: complete Japanese set of vivid voltage (called volt tackle)
Third goal: have cards graded from vivid voltage. Love that set.
My collection goal is getting more vintage preferably sealed stuff but some cool holos and slabs would be amazing! 😄 Loved the mystery box it had a very nice distribution of sets! 👍Can’t wait to watch the next one! 😌
I have followed you for years as a fellow marketer (we own a large eCommerce outdoor living company) and I just found this channel.
I got back into Pokémon collecting at 38 since my daughter (7) started getting into the series and cards.
It’s a fun hobby for both of us, but I can’t help but look up the raw sale price of every single rare and set aside anything worth more than $3 to maybe sell and help fund her UTMA. 🤣
I would love to collect the full Celebration set and/or the Pogo set, seeing I'm a Pogo player.
Also, would love to have the sealed Rocket pack and keep it sealed.

My goal is to get number 1 to 151 original Pokemon. I had the WHOLE set as a kid. Then everything got ruined in a flood 😢 so anything will help. I’m not looking for $$ value. Just sentimental value is all….to top it off, I’m not kidding when I say I had a base set holo charizard, blastoise, and venusaur. So sad. So many memories. Hi! My Fiancé and I are relatively new to pokémon tcg (about 1 1/2 years) and my collection goal is simply to get better trainer cards! I love strategically creating my deck but i’ve noticed that it’s so hard to do anything when I don’t have any quality trainer cards to support me! Anyways love the videos, can’t wait to see more!

90% Of the time its better to keep sealed but its also 90% of the time more fun to open them

I would like to add that I have never seen a pack sold over here under the price of 6 euros. I live in the Netherlands, and I only started collecting starting the celebrations period to be honest however I did have some luck somehow since I was able to get lose packs of celebrations for only 4 euros at that moment in a local shop. They would not let you pick up more than 4 pack per person per day so I had to bring in my daughter and husband to get me some extra packs back then.
So I think prices may vary on where you are located perhaps.

My Collection Goal for... Next year since this video is a year old... is to finish my collection of Fruit trees.
I just spent 290 on a pair of 6-7ft Fruit trees need one more order then I'll be ready to plant in the spring!
Persimmon, Pomegranate, Plum... and the super rare Pawpaw legendary fruit from the new Continent, Not Papaya I gotta grow those indoors, PawPaw.
Not just for the value, but because it’s from my childhood. I would love that Lapras. I wish i could get a nice Gangar or mew/mewtwo. Blastoise would be dope too.

The irony is that Gijoe's cards are VERY EXPENSIVE depending on the card, just like the pokemon cards, and the price of the rares together is similar to several rare pokemon cards together, that is, what that guy spends on "cards Pokemon"

This isn't really to win anything, but I collect Bakugan, and one of the main Bakugan characters is named Nillious. It is a 2 to 3 headed dragon in the Darkus faction, and my goal is to collect every version of him from the past 4 years, this includes diamond, elemental and mythic rarities of the character. It is my favorite Bakugan and I hope to complete this goal

My 2024 collection goals are to help my 6 year old start his collection and teach him to take care of his cards and both learn how to play the TCG. I got him two full decks and a ton of packs for his birthday 😍
So what I used to print pokemon with a crappy black and white paper and Id cut them out and stick them onto cardboard I have every pokemon I wanted and they were like 5x bigger it was amazing.
