Bad writers probably not reading source material
Nah, I looked it up. Gambit can almost never touch Rogue in the comics either unless she's got control of her powers or a power dampener. And, the writers for '97 had to follow an established show and timeline. Dudes kinda overselling it here.
Gambit can’t touch her until she gains control of her power. If Gambit hadn’t have had the surgery then maybe he would’ve been able to.
I was remembering this video while watching the show, like what the fuck was this dude talking about
Apparently the comics for this ability didnt come out till the late 90s and 2000s and considering by this time in the original show it didnt exist they had to go off the fact that it didnt exist so unfortunate but necessary

Gambit is one of the most underrated mutants.
Forgot to mention that he also exudes a pheromone that allows him to be more successfully charming.
Why does that make alot of sense 🤔
Hypnotic charm, yes
It's not a pheromone. It's another perk of the static electricity shielding his brain. It's low level mind control, that can affect a particular individual only once.
I thought that had something to do with his eyes?
The got rid of that and gave him that dope Creole accent because they have the same effect jk 😂😂😂😂
He is literally my favorite X-men and super underrated and this proves it lol.

In the most recent episode of X-Men 97, Rogue was crying because Gambit can't touch her
They omit what they want to make it interesting. I feel like if he was able to touch her, they would have to dive into who he is and what happened to him a lot more. It would be too many holes as well bc in the series, he doesn't react to Sinister like he knew him.
@@Leon.siibirdi mean even in the comics he couldn’t touch her, cause some of what this short said is false
From what I've read the comic shielding of the mind explanation didnt come out till later comics so in the original show it didnt exist thus wouldnt make much sense for it to exist in the new one
Since my childhood he has been my favorite mutant.

Same ❤
I just loved him and Rogue. It made me so happy that they were together.
A lot of people don't know the extent of Gambit's powers. Besides blowing stuff up, he can charge his Bo staff with kinetic energy and strike people or objects with tremendous force behind it. He constantly produces energy in his body which increases his reflexes making him difficult to hit. He is trained in Savate, Bojutsu, and is an expert thief. His body also produces electric static that shields him from touch based and telepathic abilities. He can charm people so they do what he wants them to do, even strong telepaths.
At his full strength (New Son) he can burn and incinerate things. Can create charged detonations (charge an object and set it to explode at a specific time). Can charge objects just by looking at them. Can fire energy blasts. Can fly and heal wounds. Can manipulate time and space. Can stop people or objects from moving. Can manipulate microwaves and infrared. Can cross dimensions. This is because at full power, Gambit can transform himself into a being of living energy.
As a horseman of Apocalypse, Gambit is immune to diseases and plagues. He can transform materials into toxic substances. His cards could disintegrate or trap people within them.
Other powers that Gambit has had include precognition. He could see the future in his cards. This occurred while he was blind.
Now, he has stolen a tarot card deck from Saturnyne. Each card from the deck grants Gambit a new ability.
Wow, Idk he could do all that...😮
well geez why don't thry give him ice breath and x-ray vision then and be done with it. kinda silly they run out of ideas and make up new stuff for these people all the time until it's ridiculous.
@@vapedadforchristlol I like it if it makes sense, kinda keeps the verse alive
It's even more than that. New Sun told gambit he can control items through time and space. He can manipulate matter and energy at will in any form, at any time, at any place. Time is just a miniscule form of energy he can also control. Making gambit essentially omnipowerful.
Power Creep detection. Just new writers coming along to buff their favorite characters.
And for those wondering about his eyes, the comic explanation is that its energy flowing through his body
Sugaaa I can't feel you 💔
😢
So one really big point of clarification, the alternate him didn't just end all life on earth, he ended all life in his reality, then went to another earth where he accidently ended all life on it again. what happened to his original universe is only discovered later. Also the "surgical procedure" was more or less a partial lobotomy, meaning he still has all that power he just can't access it.
Gambit saw how op he was and was like "that's too much work"
He also has "sweet talking" which is a passive power that makes everyone more friendly and flirtatious towards him.
X-Men '97 showed that he can still reached Omega level if he absolutely needs to. Even at death's door.
Gotta respect him. He went from Omega to Alpha level. Just cause he knew how dangerous he actually was. Only to protect the planet from himself. Something most super beings would never do. Always seen Gambit as my favorite X-men. Since reading the comics back in the 90s, I knew then Remy, was extremely dangerous. Pure Respect.
Yes. They would never do, because superhero world is not average Manhattan - every 3 weeks there is some invasion, universal crisis or the likes. Not having power to stop that would instantly just end all life, or something equally terrible.
Taking away power from oneself in that setting is akin to not bringing a self-defense tool in a ghetto region, because you want to not use it on anyone.
Gambit wakes up every morning: UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A
He doesn't even need the playing cards. He can put it in to anything. Gambit is versatile
"He can touch Rogue without any problem"
X-Men '97: *Did y'all hear sumn??*
Gambit powers are kinetic based energy charging.....in his strongest state, he realizes that all atoms of the universe are constantly moving and that energy cannot be created or destroyed but can only be transformed through and he controls the energy conversion into anything. Literally like Dr Manhattan.
Oh wow 😯
And if he chose. He could charge the entire planet and make it go pop.
Do Gambit's capabilities make him more powerful than Molecule Man?
His ability is to take the potential energy of something and convert that to kinetic energy to the point where the object is detonated on a subatomic level. The larger the amount of potential energy the larger the boom.
If I'm not mistaken in full format, he takes on an energy body
Him in that Wolverine movie though…it’s sad we don’t see him in action in movies too much

He is now!!! Did you see X-Men 97 episode 5
It was so badass
honestly if it weren't for him nerfing himself couldn't he just touch the ground underneath him and make the whole earth go boom?
Gambit at full power doesn’t even have to touch, he just has to have line of sight. His unnerfed alternate version, also called New Sun, got the name after he made the Earth of his reality go supernova.
If i remember correctly in the new Marvel zombie reboot the survivors managed to completely blow up the dead body of Galactus with only Gambit hand stuck to one of Forge energy weapons made from body parts of heroes so yeah he is deadly as hell.

This shows that Mr Sinister is actually a background good guy willing to do bad things to save the Universe.
I think he is more of a true neutral or amoral rather than immoral. He has his goals and is willing to do just about anything to achieve them, but he also isn't just maliciously trying to block others from achieving theirs and is willing to help at times. His goal isn't inherently evil, and honestly his actions aren't exactly evil either. They simply are sinister appearing and really creepy.
