@@papanasrom Honestly, I love Undertale, but in terms of original and elegant dialogue, it has nothing to do against Off. Both are masterpieces in their own, unique way, of course.
for me, the best exchange of dialogue in the game that actually *extends beyond the game, making it one of the best in written fiction* whether it's video games like this or even a classic novel? 13:22. Hands down.

I like how you cannot see the monster you really are until you play as the judge
Its such an amazing eye opening touch. Really sends home that message of “you were never the hero to anyone” the game tries to express near the end.

The message is something about how a corrupt government that doesn’t care about its people will eventually find its people having a sub-conscious wish for death will lead to the eventual demise of the government and people in question. This ending is... pretty powerful for the little difference it has compared to the Batter ending.
For some reason I imagine the Judge just making his way back to Zone 0, curling under the sun and just... kinda sleeping forever.

It's cool how, as soon as you stop controlling Batter, he turns into a monster, the very same specter he was trying to eradicate.

Lets all just take a moment to appreciate the absolutely wonderful job the translator did for this game. For one guy to go out of his way to translate an entire game on his own, and to do it nearly perfectly, is a rare thing indeed.
My only gripe is Competence actually being Skill, that's an esoteric decision to translate it as, but admittedly, it DOES work.

This game needs to be viewed and respected as a piece of art, peopled who do commentary making fun of it are doing a bit of an injustice to it. It deserves to be taken in and interpreted by the player/viewer, thus I respect that this was uploaded without commentary.
Its like reading a deep and surrealistic novel. And the ending especially feels like the ending of a tragic theatral act. The final moments in both endings sound like the perfect moment to lower the curtain.

@@Unifoseum People can play this game and give criticism about it. I just felt that there is a point where it reaches bastardization of the original material. It is better to experience the game for yourself than to judge and never try.

I prefer the official ending. I personally find it strange that the Judge prefers a slowly dying existence to total oblivion. Keep in mind, with all the zones purified, the production of all the elements ceased. The Judge and his remaining friends would eventually die from a lack of meat and/or smoke.

Still one of the most satisfying endings to a game that I have ever seen. And one of the saddest, seeing how Judge now has to live in a broken world with only his own thoughts, the Impure Creatures (and possibly Zacharie) to keep him company.

I'm disappointed that the battle text that displays while using the Judge still mentions and themes itself around purification. I'm guessing that's probably a limitation of RPGMaker, though.

The version 2.0 English translation was so much better than version 3.0. They really butchered a lot of the creative writing in favor of making it more literally clear, and in the process, I feel like they lost a lot of the deeper meaning and simplistic beauty of the language.
So... I think it isn't essentially better, then...?

I prefer the first in both cases--and elsewhere in the game, especially as it's expressed in Japhet's dialogue. It's more poetic, and I think it captures Mortis Ghost's original French with a greater degree of _emotional_ fidelity, even if some literality is lost.
@@harrisonfackrell The 3.0 translation is apparently more accurate to the french text than the 2.0 so take that as you will. I think its preference yea and there are some 2.0 I like better though toning down Dedan from 2.0 is a welcome change for me.

lol what game did you play I just spammed my strongest move and occasionally healed and never even came close to dying. The game is inherently simple so there isn't much room for failure especially with how easy leveling up is
Although you have to question just why did Pablo stop the Batter. Was it for justice. No. In my opinion, it was because his brother, Valerie, was caught in the crossfire, and he hated the Batter for being, in part, responsible for his death.
Valerie was already dead by the time you met him. Japhet killed him. The Batter had nothing to do with it.

No. Individuals can be wildly different from each other, but the race itself; humanity, that has very clear characteristics, and a lot of it can be summarized via the saying "history repeats itself".

Can someone explain what the symbolism of this game has or is?
The Batter is a being with the goal to purify the world, but instead, kills the guardians. This destroys the world, forcing The Judge to flee Zone 0, and enter *The Room.*
The Batter is readying to flip the switch, which will destroy the world. The Judge reaches the final room, and gives the Puppeteer (the player) the choice to side with The Batter, which ends in the world's destruction, and The Batter's true purpose fulfilled. The other choice is seen in this video, the choice to side with the Judge in one final, and futile attempt to save the remnants of the destroyed world. The symbolism may be similar to that of Undertale's Genocide Route, where it states, by Chara, that the true villain is not Frisk, Chara, or Flowey, but the player. Summing it up, our choices in video games, or in life in general, can mean life or death. Memento mori.
A lot of people like to think/say that the game is through Hugo's point of view, and he is in a hospital, as seen in The Room. Dedan and Enoch/The tall mister and The big mister are like nurse's or smth, and Japhet is a bird that flies around outside or smth. The queen is his mother and the batter is his father. The purifying is trying to heal the son, but the father eventually gives up and pulls the plug on his son(the switch is now on OFF/killing Hugo). Purifying the zones entirely is like killing his imagination off. The elements are a bit weird too. Smoke, like a breathalyzer or inhaler, Metal, the metal room, Plastic, most other things in the room, Meat, food. Sugar is like the occasional treat he gets. I could go on for hours but honestly that's what I feel the story might be

He didn't wanted to destroy the world, he wanted to make it better, but the batter killed everyone, you would call it ego to try to stop a monster, even if it won't fix what that monster broke?
@@diegodelacruzanaya537 yes or vengeance, because the judge acknowledges that defeating or letting the batter win doesn't change much, it is over and the decision is called by himself as "futile"
I doubt he prefers to live with eternal regret, it's more about "doing the right thing", in his eyes at least, he might rather die now that everyone he knows is gone, but he dislikes that outcome as it hand-waves his sense of justice away.

Interesting ... the Add-On's show up when analyzing The Batter but they do not actually contribute to the battle. That implies something ... right?
Honestly in both endings I can see some hint of optimism. With 'Somewhere over the rainbow' playing. Maybe the judge and the remaining Zacharie and Elsen will find what's over the rainbow, be that peace, or the resurgence of the dead world. In the case of the Batters ending with the judge dead order no longer remains I'd assume, he is THE JUDGE, the one who ultimately forced the last decision upon you, but with the secretaries still about who's to say they won't take that role? Secretaries after all are directors in a sense, and by statistics are the most powerful enemies in the game, they take after boxers or martial artists (wearing wrestling outfits and taking a distinct stance), of which Hugo seems to have taken a liking too if we're assuming he read panic in Ballville. "from now on there will be no more darkness" is a line the batter said that I think means the world wasn't anhiliated when the switch was turned OFF... Some of the switches in the game do in fact unblock barriers when they are turned OFF, I might be reaching but maybe the Barrier in this instance was impurity, the world is pure and the barrier of malignance has been overthrown, I mean, if we're to assume Hugo worked with the guardians through unclear means to create the world, who's to say the Batter won't take a similar role, he may have been leading the world to an assumedly better place, a holier one. Alpha: The Father, Omega: The Son, Epsilon: The Spirit, The Batter: Purifier.

+The Cool Rapper OFF's story is original and interesting. But story alone doesn't make a game. The gameplay is boring and unchalleging to the extent that it's not even fun. And nearly all the puzzles revolve around collecting numbers to get a password. In fact. This game's only redeeming quality is its atmosphere, which is not even that good being that it was made with rpgmaker 2003. So yeah, don't expect it to be coupled with "good" games anytime soon.

If you are asking for any one of the ones that play trough the game, you can find it looking at the ost. If you are looking for the ear-blessing piece that plays at the very end, it's called "Somewhere over the rainbow" and it's part of The Wizard of Oz's soundtrack.

... this game makes no sense. I want to know one point where it actually does make sense.
mmomario12 i know this is four years ago but this is my understanding, the batter (the character you played) wants to purify his world and he had succefully (by killing the people). In the end he is is faced with his wife "The Queen" his wife was utterly disappionted at her husbands grave actions. After succefully defeating her she will say their son has his eyes and that she prepared such a lovely cake for their child. After defeating the wife you go and find the baby killing him or as the batter calls it "Purifying" him, when you do (since the child doesnt even fight back) you and and really complete the work only for the judge to stop you and see who the character your playing really is. A person who is obsess with cleaning the world from evil, but in reality is the real monster themselves as they turn into a ugly creature (i hope this helps)
