Hi. I looked it up, and it seems to be a tour that takes place on the Miyagi prefecture side of the mountains, and not Yamagata. Seems like the bus you’re looking for departs from Sendai Station. Hope that helps!
Hey Connie, I'm so glad I found your YT channel. I'm planning a trip to Japan at the end of of this year and wanting to visit Zao Onsen to ski. Thank you for sharing this bus info. Finding bus information, their routing and timetable I found quite challenging since I can't read kanji/hiragana. If i came via Sendai, do you know of a direct bus from Sendai to Zao Onsen that does not require a changeover at Yamagata? Kind regards Daniel
Hi Daniel! Thank you for taking the time to comment. I think there aren’t any direct busses from Sendai to Zao. You can either take the JR Senzan line to Yamagata station, or take the Kosoku bus from Sendai to Yamagata.
Oooooh, that’s really difficult to say. It really depends on the day AND time of day. You might start out surrounded by the fog, but then suddenly the sun might come out giving you 30 minutes of clear skies. The weather changes rapidly in the mountains, so the only advice I can give you is to check the weather the night before, because there’s no way to predict what the weather will be like a month from now.
Hi Connie thanks I enjoyed your videos. I will have 3 days in Yamagata in early Sep. is it possible to do day trip to Akita or Aomori, return to the town end of the day?
I’m pretty sure it will be operating because it’s the main option for skiers and snowboarders to get to Zao, but since I don’t work for the bus company, I can’t be 100% sure.
@@samuelcalviando4327 It's rare that the weather in Zao is clear all day, but even if that is the case, I hope you get to see a patch of the blue sky! End of February should be a great season to enjoy Snow Monsters and skiing!
Hi! If you stick to the beginner slopes, I think you'll be fine. Most elementary schools take the students to the Sunrise Slope, so that might be a good place to start. Also, if you go to Jupia, which is the lodge right in front of the Sunrise Slope, they rent ski gear and offer skiing lessons as well (not sure if they offer them in English though). Here's some info on the slopes in English: www.zao-spa.or.jp/english/ski/ Hope that helps!

Hi Trevor. I’m pretty sure I answered the same question from you a couple of days ago when you commented on a different video.
Does it still have snow monster in April?
The snow monsters have pretty much melted now. The best time to see them in their full glory is late February to early March.
Thanks for the videos. I’m a fellow NYer heading to Yamagata in November. Do you think it’ll get good foliage November 15-25 ish?
Hi! I think that would be a great time to catch autumn leaves.

Connie San, there are luggage coin locker or storage in Zao Onsen Bus Terminal?
Hi Samuel-san :) I think they had lockers at the bus terminal. I remember seeing some lockers at the Zao Sanroku station as well.

@@samuelcalviando4327 I’ve never stayed in a hotel in Zao so I don’t have any information on that. Sorry!
Can we use our JR pass going to Yamagata station?
I believe so. Please check with JR East for a precise answer.
Hi Connie, if we are the first time skier where should we go in zao onsen? thanks

Do they take the Japan Rail Pass??
They don’t because the company isn’t affiliated with JR.
