    Folks the internet is littered with replacement parts for these 52cc string trimmers from complete power head rebuild (cranshaft, piston,upper/lower head) to replacement parts for all the accessories. This has all the replacement parts (like any Stihl equipment) but at a fraction of the cost. Enough of me yappin! here's a link. www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20201207121139&SearchText=52cc+hedge+trimmer. Aliexpress has a ton and Ebay as well. You can't be lazy, you need to do some research and page through some web pages and you will find all you possible need. You need to look at the part you need to replace and match up to what is being advertised. There are no cross reference part # like in a craftsman piece of equipment. The internet and search engine are your friend use them.

      Yeah, you're absolutely right. The original carburettor isn't lasting very long, replacement is available for less then 10 bucks incl. p&p, a cylinder kit incl. piston, rings etc. sets you back 12 bucks.

    I have the same trimmer, used it all through 2019 and 2020, and never sorry I spent the money. But now I need to replace fuel lines and clean-out carb before using it in 2021. Using ethanol-free fuel is a major plus, but a lot cheaper to make your own from a simple process (lots of videos show how). After 2 full seasons of use, a few comments: It's bloody heavy, very noisy, can be hard to cold-start and sometimes makes smoke. But powerful (2.9 hp) and string-trims everything in sight, chain saw attachment is great, hedge trimmer is also used for fine trimming between special plants, weed cutting on steep ground , and for branch cutting of unwanted brush. I put handle-bars on mine which made it much easier to use and control, and replacing the string head with an Echo 400 made string changes a slam-dunk.

    I have that 52cc engine on the "backpack" engine mounted version of this multi-tool and it's been an absolute beast! The power is ridiculous. Totally saves your back and starts up in 2-3 pulls. Was actually cheaper than what you paid for this one at the time a few months ago. And I do run it at the 25:1 recommended ratio with the Lucas JASO FD "smokeless" oil - no real smoke at all.

    I sell engineering plastics for a living. At one time, I sold flex PVC made with polymeric plasticisers. What's happening, is the gasoline, specifically with added ethanol is causing the plasticisers to migrate out of the PVC causing rigidity and eventual failure. The better gasoline lines are using PVC with long chain polymeric plasticizers. Plasticizers are oils used in the compound of PVC which is a normally rigid material. There are other polymer compounds made by Dupont and others, but I doubt the manufacturers are going to spend the extra dough for Fluoropolymers that are 5 times as expensive..

  • @rawux1228

    Have similar trimmer. Those fuel lines are trash, they get stiff and crack when submerged in gasoline. Spent few hours trying to figure it out why it does not start and it was broken fuel line inside the gas tank. Head and shield is quite fragile too so you have to cut carefully or upgrade. Engine still works great after 6 years of use. For less than a 100$ its a very good trimmer and quite powerful. Also parts are cheap for them.

      on these, sort of. I have the same trimmer (but came in a sort of 5 in 1 kit - it was *cheap*). The lines were OK on mine, but the grommet fell apart. I have to think the grommet falling apart is perhaps because it wasn't that great, or because it isn't anticipated to spend 24*7*365 in contact with the fuel.
      I use only ethanol free fuel in it, but replaced the lines anyway with the grommet. Don't know what these things cost now, but the whole thing was $160 shipped 6 or 8 years ago and starts as easy as anything I've ever had. well, aside from the fact that it's got decent compression and it's 52cc - it starts in a few pulls. those pulls are a lot harder than pulling a 25cc weedwacker.

  • @dukesworld3020
    @dukesworld3020 5 лет назад +3

    If you store weed wacker or any gas engine with ethanol gas in it. It will dissolve the fuel lines and gum up the carbs. The reason you can only use it in one angle is your pick up line is to short. Always make it almost as lone as the inside of the tank. Your overflow line to the tank should not go more than 3/8" or 1/2" into the tank.

      I am not convinced about ethanol gas dissolving fuel lines or causing damage to a carbuertor. I have a husqvarna professional grade weed wacker/brush cutter that is almost 30 years old and I never drained the gas in it. I have never had to replace anything on it, except the air cleaner. It still runs like the day I got it, very light and powerful. I also have a husqvarna pro grade blower that is about the same age, runs great.

      yes, probably a little more power. haven't used an FS220, but these claim 2.7 or 3 hp and they probably hit that. not for light touch around decorative grass, that's for sure.
      They have what seems like a nice hardened splined driveshaft, too, but the handles and the tube around the driveshaft are a bit flimsy. Not a big deal, and not that easy to notice unless you get the kit and start adding extensions. Tube probably is the same gauge as anything else, but as much as the driveshaft is hardened, the tubing is butter soft.
