Hello, all! Today's card idea and video is a DIY Valentine's Day card using minimal supplies. In fact, this is the first of three videos like this that I have planned. There will be two more DIY Valentine's Day cards in the coming weeks.
You'll want to use watercolor paper to create this card. I've really been liking Canson XL watercolor paper and it's an inexpensive paper that can sometimes be found in stores like Walmart. If you can't get a hold of some watercolor paper, try to use the thickest cardstock or paper that you can.
I masked off the four squares using blue painter's tape, and then watercolored using washable watercolor paints from Crayola. To finish off the card, I drew a gold heart using a Pilot paint marker in gold.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it when you make these kinds of cards that do not require all new and often expensive supplies. Thank you so much! I'll say it again: you are the BEST!
It is so nice of you to do these occasional cards with minimal supplies so more people can play. Not everybody can buy everything. Great to provide some workarounds, some alternatives and share the love. TY for being a sweetie!
I love these "minimal supplies" cards!! I wish more YT card makers would do this too once in awhile. Thanks for thinking of us who have limited resources 💖
LOVE these 'minimal supplies' videos Kristina! Thank you so much! xx
Love the minimal supplies miniseries idea! Fun! Great card with few supplies=fabulous!
Awesome job and I like that you're using minimal supplies and the kids' watercolours. I like that you're not promoting anything too. Thumbs up!
Free handing those gold lines = goals
Oh, Kristina...thanks so much for this simple card! Sometimes we just need to be able to sit down and quickly make several cards. I could see using this design for note cards or any card, actually. Would make nice "thinking of you" or "praying for you". Thanks again!
Major props for using budget supplies and showing us it's possible to create quality art. Thank you, Kristina!
I really like that you used very affordable products. Looking forward to more similar videos.
So simple yet so beautiful!
Hi Kristina ~ What a lovely card and video. Absolutely love it and the fact that you show us that we can work with ANY products and get fabulous results. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration; I look forward to the other videos in this series. ~HUGS~
So simple, and so pretty!
Kristina, this is so cute and easy, love that!
love the simplicity but how elegant it still looks!
So simple but very effective. Love your videos.
Using these kids supplies is inspiring! You can make art from the most basic of supplies!
I LOVED this!! So classy and crisp!
So,so beautiful! Thanks
Wow Kristina, super cute and really inexpensive.
Wow, what a beautiful card
Watercoloring really scares me--but think I can manage this. Very excited. Thanks so much, Kristina.
It's so simple but supercute.
Thank you, Kristina. I've been wanting to try my hand at watercolor, but have put off trying it because I'm really not artistically talented. This simple design with very affordable products has given me the courage to go ahead and try. I'm off to buy the materials. Wish me luck!
Cool card. I see the critters as well. TFS
Soooo pretty!!!
Yay! I can actually make this card! I love it its adorable!
So pretty!!!!!
Fun and oh so pretty!
Great card and it seems so simple to recreate. Nice design! Love it! TFS
I've done this method before and definitely loved it
Very cute card and great that you did a minimal supplies video! :)
Very nice and easy, can't wait to try. Thanks
I really appreciate this video! I have been wanting to buy some watercolors, but I had no idea where to start. I'm happy to see the results you can get with Crayola!
Very cute!
Cute and easy! This is sort of what I do when making my watercolor swatches! The blue tape is available in 1/8" wide rolls and larger on Amazon from $2-$3 on up. Easy and clean OCD looking swatches! God Bless!
I Love it!!! ❤️❤️❤️
So nice!
I can see it ! Beautiful card x
Love this!!!!!!
I have that paint pen in both widths. Best metallic one I have found.
C'est simple et je trouve ça très chouette.
I have enjoyed with the watercolours. THANK VERY MUCH
Kristina, thanks for the inspiration! I'm thinking I could do this with my granddaughters! They would love that big reveal moment! 😀
Cool card, Kristina! Know what? If you look in your pic of that right upper square, there seems to be the face of a sweet puppy on there {in the shadows}...love it!
love the simplicity of this card. I even have stamps that fit perfectly, depending on what kind of card I am makimg. Thanks for reminding me, I can cut my painter's tape to the size I need!
Thank you for sharing x
Just wonderful!!!! :-)
Excellent video! thanks for using such basic supplies....just goes to prove you don't always need the expensive products to make a lovely card! But sure helps to have an artistic hand :-) I'm impressed you basically eyeballed laying down the tape. Quite sure mine wouldn't have been so straight!
Super cute! I'd love if you did something fandom related, like a Harry Potter card or a Sherlock card, because that'd be really cool to give away to my friends. Or maybe superhero cards like Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man, etc. Because I would really love to attempt something like that.
I usually design on my tablet because actual drawing cards are messy for me, but you make it seem so easy! And I love the minimal supplies videos since I don't have a lot of these fancy tools as a student. Keep up the great work!
Waiting for more videos like this ! ^-^
I love this! Thank you for showing us how great even inexpensive supplies can work.
Awesome! I love creating handmade cards for Valentine's Day for my hubby and I really appreciate you sharing this kind of project! I used an idea a couple of years ago and look forward to seeing your other videos! Thanks so much for sharing!
Love it. I can do it. Thanks

Great video, I enjoyed it. Thanks
This is beautiful... and holy cow!!, I could never draw those straight lines. You are awesome.
I loved this video! I especially liked that I could go out and buy everything needed for under $10! I can't wait to see the next two in the series!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series!
loving this. I am newer to watercolor thank you for the tips :)
Am i the only one who can see a teddy bear face in the top right square!? 😮😕
Nirali Andaria yes omg lol
I see a bear too. lol. Super simple and cute card. I tried doing brush lettering today. I TRIED. lol
I totally can too!
You can see it perfect in the final shot of the dry card at 6:27.
Yes and there is a dog underneath the bear.
Brilliant :-)
love this! perfect for the kids to try too!
Fun!
I love this! I'll definitely be trying this out, thank you so much!
I'm definitely gonna try this! great tutorial!
I love your work! it's so easy and yet so beautiful! :)
Cool
Omg never been this early
Great card! Love your videos on minimal supply cards. Can I use a gold embossed heart over watercolor? I do not have one of those pens. Thanks
Deborah Anne as long as you make sure all the area of watercolor is dry, it should be okay, otherwise embossing powder would probably stick in unwanted places
Good point, thank you.
can you show us your camera setup?? How do you line it up so perfectly straight?? Thanks from Tokyo JAPAN:)
You can see in my craft room tour that I posted last month.
This comment has nothing to do with this video, but I was wondering if you've ever considered having a rubber stamp set made of your hand lettered alphabet? From everyone's comments, and my own admiration, I think we'd all love one. 🦋
hi Kristina, can you make a card with a suitcase?
I did one for Jennifer McGuire's channel a while back... ruclips.net/video/pe5XgFLofEE/видео.html
Hi Kristina, I was wondering what the name of the song was that plays in your outro? Love your videos!
Can I do it with poster colour? ?
did you wet the paper before painting?
Very nice and easy, can't wait to try. Thanks
