    I appreciate you as a coach working on this stuff. A lot of high school coaches (like the guy who coached my son) won't touch this stuff at all.

    Thanks for sharing. I love the diamond drill with the different offense options usage instead of the usual 2 line lay-up drill. I'll definitely use it in my teams practice.

    hi coach, great video! Would you recommend this as a routine set of drills to implement to start off high school practices? I currently coach a high school team with beginner basketball skills.

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  Год назад

      I think it depends on your practice structure and time. We do this more as a workout in the offseason, but will take some of these drills to do during practice while we are in season. I think 20-30 min of skill work at the beginning of practice is a good routine to have

    Coach, I notice some of the players using 1-2 inside pivot step into their jumper and a few using the step-hop. Do you teach anything specifically on that footwork and is it a big deal to you either way?

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  4 месяца назад +1

      @@scottlowe44 great question. I used to always try to teach 1-2 step into shot. With more experience I’ve seen it work well both ways. I think it’s important to stress balance and quickness of the shot. If the player feels more comfortable with a hop step, then they can use that as long as they rep it with quickness.
      The 1-2 step is faster in my opinion, but it could be argued that the hop step helps players be on balance a little better.
      Hope the answer helps

    • @scottlowe44
      @scottlowe44 4 месяца назад

      @@CoachAshworth yes sir. I have a similar experience. I used 1-2 as a player and started coaching it that way. Once I converted to coaching girls, almost all of them are more comfortable with the step-hop. Works both ways in my opinion.

    I noticed you had your players jab using their right foot on the right side and left foot on the left side. I'm assuming you teach them to use both pivot foots. What is your philosophy with that?

    • @CoachAshworth
      @CoachAshworth  8 месяцев назад

      We teach kids to be able to jab either way. We want them to get the defenser to shift or open their hips to give us a better driving lane.

    Hi Coach Ashworth, my name is Allen, I'm a basketball fan from China. I really enjoy your RUclips videos and think they could help many people here who want to learn proper basketball training and drills. I'd love to get your permission to repost your videos on Bilibili, a popular Chinese video site. If allowed, I will add Chinese subtitles to the videos and share them with fellow Chinese fans and I think I can help share your knowledge with even more aspiring basketball athletes. This will help the sport continue growing here. plz let me know if you'd be open to me reposting your videos. Thanks for considering!

      This entire workout is GOLD coach. Success is other coaches are using these drills for their teams and ppl like you who are obviously not a coach, have never been to a coaching clinic. You clearly are not successful, so choose your words better, they will come back to you!!! P.S. Coach Ashworth and his video has helped me and my team succeed so I have Coach Ashworth back.
