I really appreciate you posting this. I'm picking up my Passenger and School Bus endorsements again, and this will be my go to video for the pretrip. I'm gonna be driving for McCreary County Public Schools.
Great video! Your pre-trip procedures are almost identical to what we have here in Pennsylvania. One other thing we I do is check for inside flat tires. You can do this by using a crow bar to tap on them or press your foot against the inside rear tires. If they're soft, they're flat. Also, the outer tire will bulge out more where it's on the ground with an inside flat as all the weight is now on just one tire. This is a rare occurrence, but I've seen it happen a few times in my 9 years of driving. It hasn't happened to my bus, but I've noticed it on others. That bulging rear tire is always a tell-tale sign!
To be honest, I like Internationals best. I think they make the best school bus hands down. Unfortunately, they also tend to be more expensive so they are often times are underbid during the purchasing process. All I can say is: You only get what you pay for!
You only get what you pay for well put my friend well put lol..I've been on a few international buses too for field trips those buses never disappoint lol
in my school district in w.v. (Jackson county) we had a bus (32) smash into another bus (42). that happened last month, and a couple years ago a bus went through the high school
She forgot to check the battery compartment to make sure that all cables are tight, not frayed, or worn, and that none of the batteries are leaking fluid.
I used to go to Boone county schools. Now I live in columbia Tennessee and out bus is really old and the seats are torn up. Plus there are 30 seats and 70 students on the bus
no one can do a pre-trip in 15 min.or in 7 years i have not seen it done properly.most company's i've worked for want you to show up early on you're own time.so if you get hurt well you know...and she missed so much i.e certificates,1,2,3,walk's around.brake test cut in cut out din't wait the full minute. static air loss applied air loss whats the max pressure to do the static parking brake test (rolling)min psi.servise brake test .amongst other things. min thread depth front and back .i wish the best of luck to your trainees.
bdle est: Seatbelts are required for the driver and buses for Pre-K or Special ED buses! That's also the purpose of high backed seats! The high backed seats are there to protect you from flying into the windshield! The seats may not feel soft on a regular ride but when involved in a collision the seats are pretty soft
I can point out that she couldn't name one single thing under the hood. Wires and hoses? lol their goes 14points off your exam. Let me help you with what you missed under the good babe. Coolant reservoir: Radiator: Water pump: Fan blades: Alternator: Air compressor: Power steering reservoir: Power steering pump: Steering column: steering gear box: Steering linkage: ( pitman arm- drag link- steering knuckle) .
kingbullet316 Will you train me, sir? Lol. Seriously, you seem to know what you're talking about and your comments are very helpful. Post your own video perhaps. Just talk about the many different parts of the bus and maybe have some print outs to refer to. It'd really help and I'm sure many would greatly appreciate it!
kingbullet316This video was never intended for a CDL exam.... It was put together for our drivers for their Pre-Trip before they take a bus on the road...
+Wade Lawrence My sister has been driving a semi-truck for nearly 25 yrs and has more than this to check on her pre-trip inspections and does it with ease in about 15 min. It becomes second nature, like riding a bike!
miss.riddle the driver most of the time does not pick the bus she/he drives.Usualy buses are allowed to place three children per seat 3x30=90.if it takes you so long to get to the back of the bus. the driver should place you in front.she /he is allowed to assign seats
As you get to know your bus it's probably not necessary to do all of this every day, but it doesn't hurt to remember the procedures and follow them frequently. You need to know all of this for your testing or re-certification, too.

Boone County Schools: More thorough than a prostate exam!
Jake Veil Leyte wow! can you say dip-stick! lol....
Awesome video
In Georgia, our pre-trip check is only an 8th of this and our level of safety is just fine. This is a little bit too complicated for it's own good.
I was thinking the opposite. We’re much more in depth but we’re approaching it from a CDL A perspective.
Not knocking her approach.
Good Job excellent video
What about the radio you need to ask for a ride check
You only get what you pay for well put my friend well put lol..I've been on a few international buses too for field trips those buses never disappoint lol

It doesn't show many of the things that she is talking about on the bus engine? Why?
How many busses fail a day, and do you have your sign placed inside the bus ''Your Children's Safety, is our Business"
She forgot to check the battery compartment to make sure that all cables are tight, not frayed, or worn, and that none of the batteries are leaking fluid.
Somebody’s Being funny. Lol. I did this twice a day Monday-Friday Pre tripping a School Bus is done every time that bus leaves the Bus Barn.
She does need to because the Bus can work.
I used to go to Boone county schools. Now I live in columbia Tennessee and out bus is really old and the seats are torn up. Plus there are 30 seats and 70 students on the bus
