Car ran a little weird after reconnecting the battery due to the relearn process. Just gotta drive around the neighborhood for it to normalize. Hope that light doesn't come back on. Keep up the good work on the vids bro. Congrats on the baby, and God bless

When resetting the ECU tap the brake pedal a bunch of times while the battery is disconnected. Capacitors can still hold a charge. Tapping the brake a bunch of times will take any electricity out of them. When you reconnect the battery and start the car, let it idle for 8 minutes without touching the gas or anything. Make sure the AC is off as well.
Also, just for fun, put the GoPro in the intake heat shield and drive around. You’ll get some good sound clips that way. Kidding not kidding. I want to see it.

Hey cam, look into getting a mid priced obd2 scan tool, it will let you see exactly why the check engine light is in and will let you save logs on performance of you car, and even clear the check engine light so you don’t need to take the battery on and off.
Yo Cam, the rough idle is most likely due to something wrong with your MAF sensor. Maybe you've damaged it or got some debris on it during the install? I'd inspect the MAF and maybe spray it down with some MAF sensor cleaner. There could also be a vacuum leak due to that vacuum hose not connected properly. It's one of those two that contribute to the rough idle and the check engine light.

That was cool how they sent you messages about your check engine light. The other day I got a message on my infotainment system about a recall for my WRX and they had even set up an appointment for me.
For the hks supercharger kit, hks is planning to release their fcon ecu piggyback made specifically for the brz sometime this spring which will make the kit tunable

Didn’t you also install a new CAI? I know with the Cobb for example on my old WRX, due to the position of the maf sensor, if you didnt get the placement of the intake tubes exactly correct, it would go nuts and throw codes

Just thought I should mention that some cars are really fussy about maf sensor placement in relation to throttle body plate. Also sometimes maf sensors get really fussy about turbulence in the intake track… other wise the intake sounds great 😊 add some real resonance to the motor. Ether way thanks for trying things out so we can all learn together 👍

I'd check to see what oil filter that valvoline place used, I took my BRZ to one, they installed a completely different sized filter, was leaking out the bottom. Also it wouldn't hurt to scan it to see the error codes.

ecu has been cracked already so tuning for the gr86/brz is out now I think, though last time I checked it was still in beta phase.

Cam, based on what I seeing in your video those warnings come on the 10th gen civics and including accords they usually come on when the temperature outside is cold (or at least it happen majority of the time with me)

I’m having a question do you need to tune the BRZ just asking cause you put a air intake what I know is that Subaru engine’s doesn’t like new parts without a tube it will eventually destroyed the motor that’s what I have heard…. Hope it isn’t true
a cold air intake does not require a tune on the BRZ/GR86
