This sounds sad but I feel like sharing. My wii has Been packed away for 10 years. I pulled it out and found some friends and family Mii's who no longer are with us. Definitely made me sit down.
Oh god dude that just made me remember I have a cousin who died in a car crash when he was really young, probably around like 8. I think I have a mii of him
@@weaponizedestrogen Along those lines, I found an old voice mail on my phone that I forgot was still on there from my mother, who passed away in 2018. Geez, hearing her voice again like that, and I about lost it! 😢.
I'm sure it brought back many many good memories too though. My cousin gave me his wii shortly before he died. Looking back at his mii and played games is something I like to do once in awhile
Whoa. That's heavy man. But I hope you can use that to see how much you've grown and see the good side.
Jesus died for us all, and rose from the grave to defeat death, so we can have eternal life. please give your lives to him, and repent, he loves you!🙏🙏❤️
it is super common to find games in old consoles. it is part of why when you buy used games you pretty much have to check all the cases to make sure they are there. if i get the games cheap enough i am not as picky but i still usually like to check a few. there has been many times where i have ended up with empty cases or dvd's in the game cases.
Those Family Edition Wiis are often used by modders to make handheld GameCubes, believe it or not. If the motherboard works, it still has value.
Makes sense. Smaller board, and it'll play Gamecube if you homebrew it. Nice.
@@roflBeck That and better battery life from the smaller node chips.
There actually are some black wiis that do play gamecube games. I bought one yesterday for $36. Pretty good condition too! SD card, gamecube controller and memory card flaps included.
only later "family edition" wiis and wii mini cant play gamecube games. The wii i have is also a black one and its fully featured
Yesterday I went to goodwill and I found a wii for 50$ and with controllers and cables and the stand and it's the white one original and I decided to buy it and I went home and I tested it and there was just dance 2 but I owned it and the wii works and looks in great condition
UAE consoles share the same region code as the US. You've probably come across their games, as they have ESRB logos with the circular logo showing the countries its meant to be sold in.
Its kinda funny how region spesific they were.. but also werent as the same time. A lot of my childhood wii games have some German age rating on it, and even my totk card has a big PEGI rating on it and something in French next to it, making the game logo super small. I mean I know the switch is region free now but still
Wiis that “dont have GameCube support” actually have GameCube support if you mod the Wii and use an adapter for the controller. The Wii U can even play GameCube games with the gamepad!
just digital only
Wait! My Wii U can play Gamecube? So i just need a wireless Gamecube Controller and digitally downloaded Gamecube games??
@@CasSpellyes and with nintendont you use a wii u pro controller
@@fatfingerguy- That's pretty neat.
I didn't realize it was so uncommon for these old consoles to be played more recently. I still play my PS2, PS3, and Wii.
You and me both
My dad still has his NES, SNES, PS2, PS3 and Wii.
Your dad sounds cool if he holds onto all those consoles.@@LennonsRetroTech
I remember buying a used wii from GameStop years ago, and it had basically all the virtual console games unlocked/bought. I found it out when I bought a wiishop points card to buy majoras mask only to find out it has already been bought and saw everything was bought.
Wow! That’s so cool and lucky!
Wii Sports is definitely a great, popular game, so it’s pricing is not surprising. Some retro stores are selling it for $40.
Yeah it's crazy how much they sell for now. I'm glad mine still works. But I'm pissed that my new super mario bros. doesn't 😭. I tried to fix it but I guess I gotta buy a new one. It just sucks that they kinda cost a lot
I one time picked up a Wii from a goodwill dirt cheap several months ago and got Wii Sports version 1.0 inside. (It's the version where it skips the mii lineup cutscene in baseball)
The wii at around 3 minutes is an GameCube compatible model (the early ones). You can tell because the non GameCube compatible models(cost cutting models)have the front wii text horizontally instead of vertically
I first got a Wii in May. The console was first played in December 2009 and was last played in July 2013.
I got my wii in 2007 and it still goes strong today. Fav game for sure is Wii Party.
i used to flip wii sports from 10-15 bucks all day long on ebay. prices depended on condition, and completeness. then first covid lockdown happened, game shot up to 35 bucks loose! sadly i had no more to sell. but it has leveled to the 20 you said. not bad for a game that's had millions made.
I bought a Wii like a month ago, and it also came with a free game. The system didn't read it though because someone put it in backwards, and if anyone is wondering, it was a newer NASCAR game.
Safe to say this was worth the time. Especially when you pay the equivalent of $20 per wii and sometimes find a $10-20 game in it for free :p
Fun fact for the wii sports discs (at 2:20 / 6:44 / 19:34): there are actually 2 versions of wii sports which are released, version 1.0 and version 1.1, both of those sell for different amounts I believe, so you may want to check which version of wii sports they are.
(You can tell which version it is if Baseball has the little intro with the miis (1.1) or just goes straight to the game without the cutscene (1.0))
I’m pretty sure europeans wouldn’t ever have 1.0, just 1.1.
Update: Only North Americans ever had access to 1.0 but only for 1 month, all other regions always had 1.1
Thanks for the info! I noticed the 2 discs looked slightly different, but didn’t realize there was actually a difference in the game
@@jrob0021Yup, its minor differences across different wii sports discs.
1.0 is a speedrunner’s dream because of the baseball difference.
Not sure which between 1.0 or 1.1 sells better, but that can either sell better or worse depending on the version
You can also tell which version it is from the title screen and the Wii Remote icon too. On the title screen it will say "2006" for the copyright date on v1.0 and the Wii Remote will not have the wrist strap or silicone sleeve and the silicone sleeve will not appear when you are loading into a sport. On v1.1 it will say "2006-2007" on the title screen's copyright date and the Wiimote will have the silicone case and wrist strap, and when loading into a sport the remote icon will have the silicone case around it
I even forgot to mention that in baseball of version 1.0, there’s no throw animation for outs for any of the base defenders
@@jrob0021 I actually just went to check the prices, a version 1.0 wii sports disc sells better than a 1.1 disc, which makes sense since a 1.0 disc isn’t very common (it was only there for under a month until being replaced with 1.1).
Only North American discs can ever have version 1.0 of wii sports.
Just as reference: a wii sports copy of version 1.1 probably sells for about 20 to 40 dollars, meanwhile 1.0 most likely sells for about 60 to 80 dollars.
Do not take these numbers as fully legitimate as I have not checked too much
I definitely believe you for finding free games with your consoles. With the amount of free games I have gotten with used consoles I buy in pawn shops? I have my own scores and stories to share.
I think the best thing to wonder whenever you buy a wii now is "Does it have the homebrew channel?"
Nice. You should make a sequel to this series called: "Fixing The Texas Load's (Broken consoles)" 😂
Just bought a wii. I was born in same year as it came out. Have great
Memories on there as a little kid. Now every time I go to my grandmas me and my siblings have a little play of Wii party and Wii sports. Not to mention getting my dad to run through super Mario galaxy 1 and 2. While
I watch. Donkey Kong was such a great game
Too. Can’t wait for it to arrive so I can play again. I have some games coming with the console such as wii sports and Mario galaxy which will be fun to go through agaun
When you said “no free game” it reminded me of a DVD I forget in the built in DVD player in my old fire damaged Toshiba TV 😅 I threw it out but forgot to get my DVD first because I was stressed out, trying to find a recycling center I had access to. Couldn’t find one so I just left it outside with a sign that said “FREE. Fire damage but works fine. Dark spot on screen!” Yes, it somehow still worked. Threw it out in 2020. Got in way before then and the people who had it before me had it for a very long time
I still have a back catalog of Wii games to play. I haven't played mine in a year, but I do intend to play again!
I’ve had a few used Wiis over the years. Free games I’ve gotten are Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart x 2, and Super Paper Mario. 😂
That thumbnail is genius.
I was instantly like: "Oooh, free games!" 😅
Here since day 1! This series is so hype
I’ve been on a Nintendo console watch recently so this couldn’t have come at a perfect time ^^ I quite enjoyed the video
That first console has a UK power adaptor as it’s 3 pin and 220v but it’s weird to see that it’s a console from the UAE
just the sound of the disk going into the replacement disk drive is so nostalgic.
I still play on the Wii to this day and was bought around when it first came out and maybe a few year later.
I absolutely love Nintendo Wii. I have a white gamecube compatible one, and recently just refurbished it 😁 Today i recieved my Wii U with a physical copy of Mario Kart 8, and the best part is that the gamepad and the console looks brand spanking new 😊 So it has been well taken care of.
Still have my Wii U in my HT rig. I still bust that thing out one in a while to play Pikmin 3. I also still have it so I can still play Xenoblade Chronicle X.
@@SkiBumMSP Glad to hear other gamers stil use previous generations of consoles and don't put them on a shelf because of the newest tech.
How can I tell if my wii is GameCube compatible?
@@yummi118 On the top of your Wii there should be two flip covers, one covering the Gamecube controller ports and one covering Gamecube memory card slots.
I've been pondering this question a lot. If 1 particular Nintendo Wii hasn't been connected to the internet (hard wired to modem or WiFi), how does it show new apps that weren't there before? Happened on my mom's Wii and still don't have an answer for that.
They are like shortcuts. You need to download them to use them.
@xanderplayz3446 but how does the wii know, when it never had an Internet connection. How does it know that these shortcuts even exist
They may have been on a game disc. If the game doesnt use all the space available on the disc, they sometimes bundle extra stuff in the free space
Not EVERY black Wii is incompatible with GameCube games - I remember that my dad specifically picked out a black Wii to replace the blue one we originally got, because the blue one wasn't compatible with his GameCube collection
If you haven't tried the Mario Kart disk in another Wii, you should. My copy of Wii Play works in my Wii but not my Grandma's. On her Wii it will get to the wrist strap notice and then stop working.
Are you sure it isn't broken/from another region?
@@Chipmunkboy Both Wiis read other disks just fine and both are NTSC.
Makes you wonder just where some of these consoles have been. I wonder if some of those Wiis with all those Miis on there were used in a company break room where employees just played Wii Sports during lunch. Hell, at my own company, we still have a Wii setup like that we still bust out (yes, even in 2023) every now and again to play some Wii bowling. Does not surprise me that many of those would be left with the Wii Sports game still in it. The Wii Sports game was the "pack-in" game that came with the Wii. I still have my Wii, but it is up at my mountain house at the ski area that I go during the winter so I can ski all season.
lol that's awesome
That sounds so nice. I still have my wii somewhere, got me craving calling in a few friends to play some wii bowling now.
This series is awesome I don't even play games. Lol
Apparently last time I checked sometime in 2023 Netflix still works on the PSVita even though that version is kinda outdated though some how it has the same movie/TV shows have on Netflix 2023 which is cool to see an old build have new things on it
@@Nighterlevyou’d be surprised. Hombrew was the best thing for the Vita
Just bought Wii #8 Thank you so much for doing this, Ive been looking for a wii for forever, appreciate it man👍
gg
i think i have the wii speak channel, as i got the nintendo mic to play Monster Hunter Tri, i think it even came with the collectors edition, it was also compatible with the official logitech keyboard, so it was basically like playing on pc, except you had a controller.
I feel like the whole "Last Played" thing that you do on most Wii consoles isn't very accurate as on the Wii message board calendar when you scroll back it only shows in - game achievements and stuff in the yellow envelopes, it would be impossible to actually see when it was last played unless you just kept scrolling back without the calendar feature which would probably take ages
I still have my childhood Wii that i got for Christmas 2006. I regret not going hard on mii maker and just filling my Wii with channels and downloadable games
i have acquired about 30 wiis , all complete and working. can you show us how to easily mod them?
The Wii is definitely still fun and awesome. I have three complete and inbox Wiis in my collection.
Hey @Jacob R, if I send you my Wii, in exchange for looking at my save data and crap, how much would it cost you to fix my eject button?
Could you do a tutorial on how to set these consoles up or to fix faulty consoles, please??!
My black Wii plays Gamecube games. It's from the Wii Sports Resort bundle with the motion plus add on.
Still play on my dads wii from time to time 🤣🤣 we love playing mario kart! And I always wonder why I’m going so slow!! 😂🤣
That first one must've been bought by a service man. It's not uncommon for military men and women to purchase these when stationed overseas. I did that once or twice myself. In fact, I bought my psp in the sand box while on deployment.
That seems the most likely as the 3 pin power supply with the 220v means that it’s a UK plug too, so that’s most likely what’s happened
these videos always bring me back to my childhood
all those games inside the disk drives reminds me that when I was little our wii remote sensor stoped working so we shelved the wii but we found out almost 6 years later that we left new super mario bros wii inside lmao
Haha nice, always love coming across hidden mystery games
The Wii Speak was a microphone attachment for the Wii so you could use voice chat.
i love his reaction to him getting mario kart wii in the wii console 9:31
Then him finding out it doesnt boot all the way
When the kids leave home they leave their Wii and mum and Dad sell the wii and have no idea theres games still in it 🙏🏽
What website are you using as a reference for the games?
Pricecharting/eBay
You got a lot of working systems and stuff good buy 😊

Nice job man🎉🎉🎉
This is more like Texas unload 😂
Refurbished my first Wii the other day, pissed me off with all those screws lol
If every console is untested at Goodwill, they should be called Badwill
I wonder if the upsidedown Wii games you've found in several different videos are from confusion with a vertical unit?
One thing you should check is the Puzzle game see what peoples fastest times were
If I’m not mistaken, the black, we in the original launch, we were the only ones capable of playing GameCube games, even when he is talking about that it shows the disc format on the screen behind him
Yeah, I don't know for sure about that black Wii he has specifically, but I have a black Wii that's almost certainly Gamecube compatible (or Nintendo just wasted money including Gamecube controller and memory card ports for nothing?). From what I've found on Google, some of them definitely are incompatible (as are some of the white ones), but they're not all incompatible. One of the giveaways for a Gamecube incompatible Wii, other than just not having the ports, is the orientation of the labels on the front, Gamecube incompatible Wiis have the labels printed as if the console is supposed to sit horizontally. That's what his looks like, so while it shows the Gamecube disk on the disk menu, I don't think it's actually Gamecube compatible. I assume he'd have noticed the ports if it had them.
However, it's still good to point out that black Wii doesn't automatically mean no Gamecube compatibility. There are black Wiis with the Gamecube ports, since I have one. Just not all of them have it.
Easiest way to tell if it’s GameCube compatible is the flaps. Black consoles in this video had no flaps
@@jrob0021 You can also check the numbers on the back. Wii Minis have a RVL-201 on the back of them and the "Family Edition" Wii's have RVL-101. You'd want to find a Wii with RVL-001 on the back. That'll say for certain.
@@kaitoukirby7287it is pretty annoying they didn't bother to change the insert disc animation. i can see some kids getting really confused by that and thinking they can play gamecube games on it before finding out the truth
I still play RE4 on the wii, my favorite version especially with the gun controllers
I always thought you were sitting when you did these videos
I am, but on a bar stool haha
I just can’t believe how much Wii sports is worth, there’s literally millions of copys
came with every wii so most common wii game ever, so I just don't understand why.
I'm way out of the loop for the resale market but the only thing I can really think of is that maybe a lot of Wii owners just tossed the game after they got sick of playing it? I know it doesn't make much sense though
@@hectorg5809 the best guess I’ve got is that since you could never buy it and it just came included, most people with wiis didnt bother selling or getting rid of it? even that doesn’t really make sense
I only ever bought yoshi stories from the digital store on my wii lol
I have a Black Wii and I miss using it so much. The disk drive doesn’t work at all and I never downloaded games from the shop so it just collects dust in my closet.
Just this year i've given Wii to my co-worker,and seems to me,he's using it.
"If You're Not First You're Last!!!"
Wait, are all black wiis not gcn compatible? I got one and it does
My Mii on my aunt’s Wii uses the two dot nose as eyes and hides the real eyes. I think the face looks kinda funny.
The "wii in a bag" is a UK 3 pin plug
Why was there a red, pink and blue line on the screen for a couple frames after you turned the wii off?
Why does the Black Family Edition have the spinning gamecube disc? I thought all Family Editions removed that from the disc channel.
Maybe it has a motherboard from another wii
Here I am still frequenting the Wii I got for my birthday in 2010
Good video! Hope you keep taking these Texas sized loads
Yo Jacob R can you refurbish some xbox one s all digital editions?
Can you make a new video and connect this consoles to internet and see if there are any games on the Wii Shop? That can be very interesting.
Great video but the only thing youre forgetring is checking the system memory to see what game saves are on the wiis xDD
He did…
I have a black WII and mine does have the GameCube ports on it. I got mine at a flea market working with no games for $15. I also at flea market I got Mario kart $4 complete with manual with very minor scratches on the disk and Mario Galaxy 2 for $4 complete with disk looking like it had never been played.
That means your Wii was one that was made with the original hardware for the white Wii's still being used. Later black Wii's were called "Family Edition" that never had GC ports or support. Long story short, it's an older model. Probably a RVL-001 version of the black Wii
I have one like that too. I eventually homebrew'd it, I use it for a lot of Gamecube goodness. Also dumped my Wii and GC games that way. I used to have a launch model but that one died ages ago.
That black Wii has GameCube support didn’t you see the GameCube disc on the disc channel?
I think they forgot to remove that in the software of the Family Edition. Much like later non-BC PS3's still have internal memory card creators for PS2 games.
netflix on the wii is like youtube on the switch
New RUclips channel you say? Jacob R Three?
you should rename the video 'getting rich off people being lazy and not taking games out of their wiis'.
that pokemon crt was dope where did you find that?

I left a game in my PS5 after I returned the game for a refund at GameStop recently.
If I ever happen to give my Wii away and it ends up in your hands, you'll be quite happy because I have the maximum number of Miis possible on it, I think it's 100. I can just imagine you having a field day with that.
