  • I’m Grant Plowman. I’m 56 and I was born with cerebral palsy. Mum and dad were told actually to put me into a home and just forget that I was even born basically. Kind of blew all their theories apart, didn’t I? They didn’t know squat.
My name is Marites Plowman, Grant’s wife, and we’ve been married for 16 years. Oh, he’s just such a gentle and… I’m his princess. Now I’m going to cry. Yeah, he’s my best friend.
He just loves sports and he’s really just on the go all the time. He loves racing, with his bike, he just loves it.
I took up quad bike riding, I like that. It was cool fun. Best day I ever had I got three wins in one day.
We are now members of the NDIS. I just thought that as a Government also, you have to have patience. But then again, Grant and I found it really easy to understand. We’ve been very blessed to have Isla, and she really run him through and explain. And when she explains it, it’s just really really easy.
I remember the first time I rang Marites to talk to her about doing the planning conversation. Marites was so excited and really surprised that we were ringing so early. We booked the planning meeting in the same week. It’s about three weeks later that Grant’s now got the funding and now on Wednesday I do the implementation with him, and that will only take about an hour of their time.
I love being a good husband because I’ve got an awesome wife. And she is.
It’s a big help for our future. I believe that it helps us to have a better life. Not just for me but for Grant as well, and for his safety.
Walking, I’m gradually getting there. And yeah, keep a positive attitude. And just be me.
