Nice sounds, even a theremin! Bass sounds are nicer than leads... makes sense with a 100 step sequencer.

It is one of the only Boutique synth that I bought.
I loathe digital recreations of vintage classics, but this thing is flat out amazing. Roland's ACB technology is impeccable. IF the system 8 wasn't so chincey and cheap feeling I'd grab one.
It's not cheap feeling. Besides, the sound and control is what matters and in that regard it is outstanding.
Roland gets it right with ACB. It's pretty much the only virtual analogue technology that I rate. It sounds as good as analogue IMO
@@DNGMaestro The System 8 is one of the worst tactile quality synths made. The keybed is garbage, no aftertouch, the green lights are cheesy and plastic shell flexes. Ive been around them. Owners talk about their love/hate with the Sys8 all the time. When you're used to the Prophet 10, UDO Super 6, Roland RD-2000, and then you touch the System 8, its unfortunate. But if it's not cheap feeling to you, that's all that matters.
The ORIGINAL was made out odplastic, foam and air! 😅
Got this as my first Boutique Synth but soon replaced it with the SE-02. Worlds inbetween for just a little more money!
I prefer the SH01A 🤷♂️

They’re redundant in the year 2022 when you have DAWs with VST.
@@Guitarist888 . I'd rather watch an acoustic pianist than a daw and vst. Id rather watch someone play a real Jupiter 8 than a vst. I'd rather play a dawless setup than a vst and daw. Whatever system you feel creative and get more enjoyment from go with it. I dont think hardware synthesizers or acoustic instruments are redundant in 2022.
@@floridahiker1503 you’re speaking for live performances and not recording. And hardware synths are still on the market. You have companies like Arturia and Novation that manufacture hardware synths. Hardware synths are expensive as hell. The new Jupiter 8X runs up to $4K. But than again, those same exact companies that I named have MIDI controllers that are designed the same as a JUPITER 8, Fairlight & Prophet 5 that can act as real synths via daw.
@@Guitarist888 . I agree with what your saying. I put my keyboard controller in storage because I get more enjoyment out of my hardware synthesizers. If I was recording or had interest in Abelton for songwriting it would be more practical to have a daw.

T4-3 sounds pretty dope
Pretty amazing what just one oscillator can achieve! Some sounds are a bit meh (obviously!), but some sound rich and amazing. Still not sure if i actually want to buy one... But for 350€ this is pretty damn cheap. But would I actually use it? Dunno...
The SH-01a (or the SH-101) synth engine is just a very simple, efficient, straight to point synthesis. It does not make everything, but what it does is just great + the arpeggiator is one is funky and inspiring. It's one of the only 2 Roland Boutiques I actually bought for myself.
@@Nu-trix Hi, what other Boutique synth did you buy?
I only have the SH-01a and the A-01. I did hesitate about the SE-02 but the knobs are too small for my hands.

It seems to have self oscillating filter, does the filter step at high resonances when turning knobs?
This synth advertises both a usable arp and sequencer. It looks like you have to go into menus to activate both. Does anyone find that to be a PITA? I would much prefer front panel switches/knobs.
Sound 3 I feel like was the exact intro to NTE by Buscabulla - also one of my fav songs of the last few years - check it out and let me know what you think
Difrence between this and ju 06A?
The Sh-01a recreates the classic Roland SH-101 and the JU-06a recreates the Juno-60 and Juno-106. Different classics.
I can hear some sounds are similar or even identical to JU-06. May these be equivalent so I can buy just one of them or not?
They don’t have the same synthesis options. But they can sometime sounds similar.
Could JP-08 me most versatile, apart from SH-01 and JU-06? Seems like it has more tweaking options from those three, am I right? I like Goa-Psy Trance, Lounge and 90's Euro Dance including Scooter. Already have TR-03 and TD-09
@Adrian Nowak The original SH-101 and Juno series were more targeted at education and beginners. The Jupiter 8 was the flagship with all the options. So yes the JP-08 should be more versatile.
hey I've been having some issues with my sho1a. When I try to record on Ableton it seems to play a pattern whenever I try to record something in. Is there anything you know to do that may help?
haha, ive just pressed stop (play) fast on synth so far.

I became familiar with midi sync settings; turning that off helped :)

Yes, these are the original factory sounds from Roland.

You can reset to factory --and loose everything.
Here’s how to return the SH-01A to its factory-set state.
1. While holding down the [2] button, turn on the power.
The [MENU] button blinks.
If you decide to cancel the factory reset, turn off the power.
2. Press the [MENU] button to execute the factory reset.
3. When all buttons blink, turn the SH-01A’s power off, then on again.

What’s your interface/converter?
For this video I was using the Roland Go:Mixer (a portable mixer / iPhone audio interface) plugged in my iPhone 6.
Interesting. I've heard this synth sound thin & muddy in other videos. But it sounds full & huge on this video. Great sounding demo.
No sync modulation?
If you mean sync modulation between oscillators. It would need at least 2 different oscillators. The Sh-01a only has 1 oscillator with 3 shapes. Not possible in this setup. Just like the original Sh-101.
