Hello Karen, oh the quilt is gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished result and it's lovely that you all help each other in class. I have to say that crafters, of whichever discipline, are always generous with their time, hints and help. It'll be lovely to see the grandchildren again. Mr Jacks is always welcome to come here and use my air fryer 🤣 x

Lovely visit again Karen. You are encouraging me to join the quilt guild in my new city. I was involved in my previous town and it was very active (and very much into art quilts and thread painting), but so much has happened in my life I have left ‘me’ out of the picture. I love your quilt and appreciate your process as I like to do my own quilts from start to finish and the larger quilts can be a challenge to quilt on a home machine if you don’t “quilt as you go”. I love the idea of using the decorative stitches that home machines can do. I am also branching into hand quilting. I flip between sewing clothes, gear for our camper van, bags, quilting etc. I actually measure my 1/4” seam in the same way you mentioned every time I sit down to quilt as it sets a mindset of precision. Karen, you have beautiful skills if you want to take on appliqué just go for it. I have only done one hand gifted it), but I just know you will be capable. Love all your crafts! Keep having fun!!

Quilt and embroidery group ladies are always generous in sharing. I’ve done many quilts with that wavy cutting. One was a winner at a big show down here and then on the cover of Workbox magazine in 2013. I make Shakshuka in the air fryer and it’s a lovely lunch.

This quilt as you go technique was the first RUclips tutorial I searched for, many years ago. Quilting a big quilt on my regular machine was so hard for me to handle so this seamed like a great solution. Although I only made a few quilts in this manner, two of my all time favorite, fun to make quilts were done this way. They were scrappy strip blocks and the backing fabrics were all different.
How do you keep track of the comings and goings of your littles! Makes me dizzy.

Always easier if you are shown a new technique rather than someone just telling you to do something! Shame you have to take back the sock knitting!
