If you still have that bbq shown in the video or one with a front loading opening for the charcoal do the following: 1. Lower the charcoal basket to the lowest level. 2. Put the electronic charcoal starter at the bottom ( you will need extension cord) to keep it level inside the bbq). 3. Pour the required amount of charcoal on top of the starter, building a flat top pyramid. 4. Plug it in and wait for the fire the top of the pile. 5. When the charcoal is fully hot, remove the electric starter gently and wiggling it while you are removing it. 6. Close the door. Your ready to bbq. Been doing thus method for 12 years. Never needed the the charcoal chimney at all. Been using the same electronic starter for 12 years too.
I actually let it sit down in the tower instead of keeping above the rim like your supposed to the first time I used it and that happened. But it works perfect. I have used it multiple times since.

I know this is kinda old but I just found the video. It looked like the plastic on the handle of the thing was melting from it's own heat, which kinda comes across as a design flaw on their part.

@@acidtv5979 your welcome. Just used it again yesterday to make burgers. BTW, I've still got the same bbq and the electronic charcoal starter for 13 years now.
This is a good tool, but unfortunately it would be a great tool if it was properly designed: the rod needs to be longer. The plastic handle in yours (as it was in mine) was burned. This could be dangerous if left unattended for a moment.

I don’t remove it until I hear crackling and see flames. You took it out too early bro
Does this starter produce less smoke starting vs lighter cubes?
Yes! Hardly any smoke at all.
Could u use it to melt metal.
These have been around almost as long as electricity

I thought the same thing. I like using a chimney, but a lighter bent into a "Z" would keep the handle away from the majority of the heat.
He obviously neglected using the hook that he advised to use in the video. The hook prevents the plastic from getting burned.

Spoiler alert - Showstooper gives this product a100 rating - wasn't even close.
Hmmm
🔥
Skip the middle man of the chimney and bury it in a mountain of coals in the BBQ. The way we’ve done it since they invented these in the ‘50s.
Merci mec👍
Great review and you are Funnnnny!!!!🤣😀😂😄
Glad you enjoyed!

I agree
I have used mine without the chimney and never made the mistake of burning the plastic.

How many have you melted? I know 2 people that keep buying new ones because they melt them by accidentally leaving it on to long. Shame
Looks good but I use newspaper and it works just fine
Paper blows and leaves ashed bro.
