    Heavy sigh for you.

Hey Al and Gina, be ready for more weather. It’s on its way.
This is Tuesday the 10th, and we had. Near hurricane last night in Northern California.
Sleet, rain, snow. Winds up to 70 mph.
Lots of trees down in my neighborhood. My trees are good, I had them trimmed the last three years, or cut down. Whew!
We also had major wind Saturday night for a long time.
Batten down your hatches. Take care.

I don’t know if you will feel better about the jake brake thing, but for twenty years of winter seasonal work dispatching snowplows I absolutely LOVED the smells of the garage, especially diesel fuel.
LOL at the cat in the box! They’re so cute.
The higher up chewing spots might very well be porcupine. I’ve heard tales of people finding upside down porcupine quills stuck in the ground underneath a chewed off limb-silly porcupine sat on the wrong side of the snack. Be careful with your vehicles, because if you hit a porcupine at a specific angle the quills can puncture a car tire!

Gina, antler sheds are also reclaimed by the land. Sheds i found over the years were in open field, some 300' to 900' apart, We had a natural basin woods near stream with dense forest & found shed is same nearly every year. There were flat/hilly areas that were dense, but with out antlers.

  • @Shnick
    @Shnick 2 года назад

A trick on collecting antlers, lay out a pile of corn during shed season, in Texas we stake 3-4 t-posts in the ground around the pile and run bungee cords around it. They eat the corn, the bungee cords snag the antlers, and they drop. Timing is important so they won’t get stuck in it.

I love watching you both work together. Reminds me of when I would help my husband do his jobs or work in our house. I love the sound of Jake brakes and I love your property. It reminds me of camping. We loved that. Best Wishes from NC.

0:28 - the sound of Jake brakes. For those who may not know, some diesel trucks have a feature called "Jake brakes" where special valving is used to use more engine compression as a brake to slow the truck, rather than relying on conventional brakes... they are controllable by the driver to use as needed and or wanted.

@@samvalentine3206 I knew it had something to do with the engine helping to slow the truck down, just not the technology. Thanks.

At 23:00, that is Chicken of the woods mushroom!!! It's delicious and does have the texture of chicken and has so much protein, vegans will eat it as a good source of protein and many vit/minerals! Harvest it and batter/fry it up!

You need to find out when the deer shed in your area that way you can go shed hunting and hopefully find some before the critters chew and eat them up but sometimes you can find ones that have been left alone, good luck and have fun.

Good morning Al Gina & Olivia. Nice trip through the woods & seeing what has happened to the streams & the amount of damaged woodland.
I think Al & Gina have made such a remarkable change to the property since its purchase & show a lot of concern for growth of what is to come.
Well done & take care happy family.

Howdy Bob! Yes, it was a lot of fun to accompany Gina and Al off in the woods to venture down one of the trails they had made previously... to see what changes have transpired and also to look for shedded antlers!

Gina, I seem to find most of my sheds in places like creek ravines and fences where they will jump across the jolt or jarring of their head will drop the antlers. And if you do find one, the other really never seems to be to far away.

unfortunately, if the water is already going around the culvert the damage is done. But on the good side, Hey! New Project . . . 🙃
