Got my first pair (speedcross 4) a few months ago and in the box it came in had instructions on the speed lace and where to store it. So im not sure if most people read the instructions lol but i love the shoes. Now looking into the Speedcross 5's

i watched the whole video to then find out that the shoes i own arent salomons lol. i got the spartan branced shoes they sell on their website, and it doesnt come with the pocket to hide the lace like the salamon does..... still a good informative video. thanks! =)

I kind of knew but it never stayed inside the pocket and kept coming out. I guess because I just shove it in instead of rolling neatly like in the video?? One time it went over the clutch pedal while driving and I swore no more quicklace.

Hey I’m new to spartan races but I’ve competed in marathons before & wanted to compete in a spartan sprint coming up soon and I was wondering if you would have any recommendations when it comes to shoes & if I should wear gloves my first spartan race / any glove recommendations, any help or advice is much appreciated!!
Hey Jake! As I'm sure you're aware with running marathons, everyone has their shoe preference and style that best suits their foot shape and running mechanics. That being said, I'd highly suggest looking at altra, inov8, Salomon, and icebug as good go-to companies for OCR shoes. I personally race in altra superiors linked below. As far as gloves, I always recommend against them. Once they become wet they're useless
What's funny is the pair I just got (4's) has a huge tag on the one shoe with a little picture instruction manual on how to stow them! Don't people look at tags and stuff anymore? Maybe I'm just weird because I still read the owners manuals of vehicles too. Then again I'm never the dumbass that's like "oh wow! I never knew my car did that" either. Lol
I owned some of the old reebok spartan shoes and the laces always came loose/undone when I ran in them. Do these shoes ever have that problem while running/racing?

I am happy that I knew what the pocket on the tongue was for BUT one thing I would love to know isssss ... what is the best way to clean these shoes? I just used my Salomon Speedcross 5s for the first time in a Spartan (they are covered in mud) and am wondering if there is a certain way I should clean them besides just spraying them down? Any advice?
Paul Leung my SpeedCross 5s did great!!! I have ran at least 4 Spartan races in various types of tennis shoes and never felt secure wearing my normal shoes. In the Salomon’s every thing was easier, more secure, and comfortable!! I took them out of the box the same morning as my Spartan race. Putting them on brand new I thought for sure I’d have problems because they weren’t broken in. I ran 4+ miles in them and could not get enough of this shoe. Uphill and downhill descent was a piece of cake and so much easier. I was passing people who were slipping in running shoes; and running through water/mud was easy too!! The most surprising part- the shoes immediately pushed the water back out of the shoe while running AND when I finished the race and took the shoes off my socks were cleaner than the rest of me. The shoes kept out nearly all debris, rocks, and mud. Amazing!! Five Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@cyaxoxo Thanks for the great review! Since they are so new, not much information about them on OCRs. I thought the aggressive lugs and higher drop would be too much for flatter gravel roads
The 5s are "new" but their virtually unchanged since the speed cross 3s. Very little has changed. If you're running on flat gravel roads, I personally would recommend a less agressive shoe

I just purchased my first pair and the Salomon instructions consist of a 2 picture diagram where the 2nd image makes zero sense to anyone who doesn't already know "There's a pouch!" ...so it definitely is not common knowledge to a person just putting on their first Salomon quicklace shoes. So you are helping people! (But the teaspoon of snarkiness you include isn't appreciated and definitely costs you potential subscribers.)

Just checked Xt6 wings 2 it also has this feature. At my local shop every salomon is tied up and threaded though bottom lace instead of tucked inside tongue.

Just wonder how we could make a heel lockdown with the quick lace system which we could not make a runner's knot?
I've honestly never tried a traditional heel lock with my caterpy laces. Not sure how well it would work since they're elastic

No tricks to it honestly. I always take my stuff to the nearest car wash and power spray my shoes for a couple minutes. Clean right up!
