I have never been able to wrap my head around this correctly, This sheet has made it soo much easier. Super thanks for the tutorial!
Ill have to go back to this video later!
Thank you very much for this video and for sharing Google Sheets Transmission Templatel.
So usefull!
I’ve been building a large ship in the game and I just had the world I was working in explode and break completely after a crash and I lost some progress on my build…
Thankfully i save after nearly every single change. 😂
But yeah that world broke. Trying to reload into it if I moved my mouse my camera spun around at light speed. I couldn’t move. And none of the menu keys worked so I had to alt tab out…
Does anyone know about that…?
Is it like a revision tutorial? Pretty sure you did one before
Yeah, I'm getting déjà vu vibes as well...
It’s a more application focused tutorial rather than explaining gear theory.
What gearboxes configuration would you used for much heavier vehicle (from engine to wheel)? My car stalls on starting on 1st gearbox position and power goes down on the 3rd.
I use the Eaton Fuller tractor trailer transmissions as my basis for my trucks. Generally they start around a 13:1 gear ratio. And top out at a .84:1 gear ratio
44:20 Engine Pt.1 Micro Controller doesn't match what we built before in the previous video. You only had us setup the OR gate and feed that into our up/down counter and had only mentioned boolean as an option. You never mentioned creating a "from transmission" composite input nor the other 3 nodes you have it hooked up to.
I made the transmission tutorial first. It's the logical next video in the series. What issue are you having?
@@CaptainCockerels I eventually figured it out by just creating a new composite node pair so the transmission and Engine Microcontrollers could talk to each other through channel 25 and hooked up the output into the OR gate we made from the modular engine tutorial that you said "we'd use in the future when we do the transmission".
It's the dirty version of your fully fledged modular engine microcontroller that uses the boolean instead of the OR gate.
If you could do an updated video for the modular engine and a follow-up for an automatic transmission, that'd be some lovely content!
Thank you for the reply and thank you for getting me up to speed on the game in such a short period of time. I've only had like 15 hours of playtime so far, but I roughly understand how it's all working and have managed to apply what I've learned across various other machines.
For some reason the pulse isn’t working, I don’t know if there was some update but when I followed the tutorial, the gear only goes up or down by one using the pulse and works without it
I would need to see your build to diagnose. We used many of my vehicles in the multiplayer stream today and they all worked normally.
so where do we learn how to do the EMC???? I was following then I saw that sheet at 41 mins and now I'm lost lol
I'm not sure what you mean by EMC?
👍👍👍
why "ratio off" when thats the one I want to use?
I have no idea what you are asking. Can you be more specific?
So basically each vehicle has it's own minimal Torque to reach the desire RPS, Once it reach the RPS you can tune them with gearbox? I tried to add more RPS in exchange for Torque but the engine refuse to reach the desired 15 RPS. so yeah I only have 2 gearbox 2:1 and 2:3
Not really. A particular engine is only going to produce so much power. You can then use gearboxes to either trade RPS for torque or trade your torque for RPS. That is the point of a transmission.
@@CaptainCockerels Ohh alright thanks mate, for ship it seems to have a certain torque required to power the engine to desired RPS. This is the most detailed tutorial on gearbox
@@CaptainCockerels So for example my ship needs 600 torque to reach the 25 rps. I need a gearbox away from the engine for initial torque and RPS and another toward the engine to tune the RPS for Torque? and there is no way for high torque and RPS than the initial one due to Diminishing returns/reduced ratio and 5% less torque for each gearbox?
@@Tanubtanu a ship generally has one gear ratio. You don't really ever change gears in a ship (except to go in reverse). For basic explanation in a ship you want to point the arrow of the gearbox towards the engine. You want to keep increasing the ratio until increasing the ratio causes the speed to decrease. That is how you determine the maximum gear ratio you can run in your ship for that particular engine. If you still want to go faster you will need a bigger engine at that point.
@@CaptainCockerels Alright that explained my question, thank you so much.
the sheet doesnt let me use it :(
Did you right click and make a copy?
@@CaptainCockerels no i didnt, thanks for info
