My Papa just died Friday October the 27th of 2023 and I can vision is my mom crying while holding his hand as they took him off life support. By far the hardest moment of my life so I can't even imagine how tough it was for my mom, my papa raised me and was pretty much my father figure because my dad left when I was a kid and my papa was the one that took me fishing and I helped him on the farm when I was a kid so I felt like I lost my dad when he passed. This song is so beautiful!
I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times before. I always get emotional when I hear it. But tonight was the first time I realized and truly heard that line.... I sobbed after that.

There’s a studio version of this song, I’d definitely check it out. I lost my grandmother to cancer two months ago. Everything happened so fast that I didn’t even have enough time to process it. Though after she was gone, I felt a sort of peace and I think that was her way of letting me know that she’s okay. I can’t listen to the song without bawling my eyes out.

Now i feel guilty you cried... But, it is so inspiring that despite of this experience, you can see that life moves on.. but with this, they still get to remember their mom even if it hurts. I still cry everytime i watch this. i can relate to them i lost both my mom and dad to cancer the hard part is they never got to see me become the father the raised me to be they never got to meet my two daughters
When people talk about people who have lost someone to cancer and talk about their lost love done while keeping it together remember they suffered from the moment they found out their loved one had cancer and through out the struggle and suffering of seeing their loved one deteriorate and slowly get closer to death. It’s a long process to some but eventually when your loved one passes you know they are no longer suffering.
Anyone who claims to not feel at least something after hearing their story, those words of the song & the emotional responses of the judges just simply ISN'T human 😭😭😭

Don't be sorry, I can never keep a dry eye watching this song. My dad didn't pass away from cancer. He passed away from COPD. I never cried SO HARD listening to a song. I'm fine up until the lyrics that say, " As death rattles my cage. I can hear their voices fading. Each breath getting harder, I can hear the tears coming from my daughter." It was difficult for my dad to breathe especially at the end. My sister was the one that found him passed away in his bedroom. I can still hear her screams echo in my head. She went in his room to wake him and he was already gone. My husband, 3 kids and I lived with her, her husband and 3 kids. Plus my mom. She ran out of the room screaming, "I don't think Daddy's breathing. Oh my god, Daddy's not breathing." This song really hits home hard for anybody else out there that lost a parent, especially from cancer or just any disease.
