Great point about the direct flights from Europe! Thanks for pointing that out 😃 And glad to hear you’re able to get down there so often! Such an incredible place. Have a great trip!
I live in Cape Town, and I can assure you that these negatives sound much worse than they actually are. Firstly, load shedding is not that bad - it happens on a schedule, and usually for no longer than 2 hours, if at all that day. And everyone here just gets on with things... If you're in a bar or restaurant they will have a generator or other sources of lighting. And as for safety, you are as safe in Cape Town (the city area) as you are in London (I know, I lived in London for 11 years). If you walk with your phone out in central London someone can snatch it there too. So don't be careless like that with your valuables. But also don't think it's a dangerous city, because it is not - almost everyone here is is very chill, so you can be chill too. Just be sensible. Also, the nightlife is by no means the best in the world, but we do have one - if you know where to go! But most establishments are on the smaller, more intimate side. Our big nightlife events are outdoors and out of the city (from Spring throughout Summer), usually over multiple days (you go camping there - or just stay awake! lol)

Camden (is that your first name?) I value your very informative report on Cape Town because it was my home for many years and brings back memories. Also, your report is fair considering the current political and social circumstances in that wonderful but troubled country. One tip though, while you style is animated, to say the least, you bob around too much and tend to give me a headache. May be a good idea to keep your head still while you talk. Cheers!
Let's face it - Cape Town doesn't get the tourist action it justly deserves not because it's far or out of the way - hello Bali. It's because in the western world little positive content about Sub-Saharan Africa is shown and thus the vast majority of an entire continent isn't seen as a travel option unless you are sophisticated and open minded. Compare CT to any of the hot digital nomad destinations in say southeast Asia - Bali, Danang - and it's not even close. Cape Town wins hands down from climate to scenery/topography to multiculturalism to the widespread use of English. That being said violent crime and electricity problems are issues that are less prevalent in SEA.

I’ve heard about a lot of corruption.. I’m sure there are novels that could be written about the issues and attempted solutions. As a tourist, I only see bits and pieces. I’m sure the locals could provide more insight

I'll admit, I'm not nearly informed enough to understand the intricacies of all these issues. Unfortunately, I see some degree of these problems in every country I visit (especially my home country). I hope we get to a place in society where we choose not to tolerate these disparities and instead choose to pour time and resources into providing meaningful solutions that would better the lives of those who don't have the same privileges of someone like me

Nice vid. Thank you! I think you might mean vigilant? Not diligent?
Thanks for the support! And yeah you're probably right haha. I don't script these vids in an effort to make them as authentic and unfiltered as possible but that leaves lots of room for me to make mistakes like this haha. Thanks for catching that!
Love your vlogs, how do I reach you? I have been featuring them in my Facebook group. Love to meet you when you are out in March, I live in Cape Town.
Thanks for the support! If you go to the "about me section" on my channel page, you'll find my email :)
@@camdendavid howzit Camden, I have sent you a couple of emails about 5 days ago, I wonder if they have got through
@@leeufontein Hey hey! Just responded earlier today :)
@@camdendavid sent you an invite to the Facebook group
😂😂😂 sir i will try not to complain about loadshedding to locals.
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching and let me know if you ever have suggestions on what you'd like to see in future videos!
I'm next door in Zimbabwe and flights are like $400 😮💨
Geeeeezz... I hope those prices drop a bunch for you :)
I tried you Airbnb for February there is no availability! Do you have sth else to propose?
Sorry that wasn't available! I'd be lying to you if I said I've stayed anywhere else (other than a hotel down in the CBD). I'd probably look for another Airbnb somewhere in Sea Point or Green Point. Hope this helps and have a great trip!
You learn to be self sufficient here. We have inverters for our internet. And you just deal and learn to actually do things like go for a walk or meditate.
Table Mountain, not Tabletop Mountain, 😉👍🏻! Sorry, local here, so had to correct!
Never apologize for being accurate! You're 100% correct :)
I'm a new subscriber and Im absolutely loving your videos! I am originally from Joburg so I was wondering if you have or if you will check it out?
Thanks for the support Sam! We failed to hit Joburg on this trip but we plan to visit sometime between Jan-March of next year. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
Cheers!
Camden is my first name :) I appreciate the feedback and will work on that!
Troubled country? Where are you from? Heaven?
Crime can happen anywhere, no matter what country, crime is crime 😮. always be alert period 😮.
This
Yes but crime happens more in some places than others. That's just reality and statistics.
I'd agree with you 100%
Great video... I live in Cape Town ❤... I will never leave it's beautiful weather the spectacular scenery beaches hikes the restaurants...I recommend a Garden Route visit and enjoy the Wine farms proudly world class. The best Rugby Team in the World x 4 🎉 Springboks yes there is Windy days then head to Blouberg grab a cocktail and watch our talented Kite boarders well sipping and over looking Table Mountain....Amazing golf courses and so much more to see... We have Metro Police and Public Security Guards on the ground 24hrs.
Tip for load shedding run a bath light a candle and relax.
Or light the fire and braai 😊
Such a special place! I'll definitely check out the Garden Route when I'm there in March 🙂 Appreciate you!

6:55 limited night life
Woulda been nice if my brain had simplified it like that instead of going the "night owl" route haha
all fine and dandy but why is their a huge disparity between rich and poor and what is being done to address this matter
I’ve heard about a lot of corruption.. I’m sure there are novels that could be written about the issues and attempted solutions. As a tourist, I only see bits and pieces. I’m sure the locals could provide more insight
@@camdendavid would it really require a novel ,corrupton seems too much like a easy throwaway term that people use to explain away things without the need to unearth the real factors behinde the huge disparity
lets be real here south africa an extremily rich country in terns of resources
how on earth are thoes townships of corrugated shacks still there after 20 years
why havent they been teared down and repolaced with the decent aesthetically pleasing social housing and gardens like their fellow white South Africans .
it would make for a far better society and for a foreinger like me watching from the uk
i would feel proud
its a disgrace man to see that
i am sick of seeing that injustice and its always africa
were this extreme disparity exist
i dont know how the locals feel but its plainly unacceptable
dont the fellow south africans feel bad about it
thoe whos Belly are stuffed do not steal food from a banquet
south adeica has the resources ,minerals, gold, diamonds ,there no fucking excuse
after 30 years of so called post apharteid there should be no no more townships no more excuses suerly
@@chrisbennett6260 Appreciate you sharing your detailed thoughts. I agree.. it's sickening to see the level of suffering. I'll admit, I'm not nearly informed enough to understand the intricacies of all these issues. Unfortunately, I see some degree of these problems in every country I visit (especially my home country). I hope we get to a place in society where we choose not to tolerate these disparities and instead choose to pour time and resources into providing meaningful solutions that would better the lives of those who don't have the same privileges of someone like me
The history of the country!
@@chrisbennett6260 lots of unemployed people having kids they cant afford-same like anywhere. Corruption. Inter tribal discrimination. But mostly people making bad choices about when to have kids
Nice video. It's Table Mountain not Table Top Mountain.
Thanks! And yeah, no idea why I called it that haha
I was there over the weekend thank god there wasn’t any load shedding I guess elections are the corner hence the change 😂😂
Hope you had a great time! And yeah, there's been much less over the past few weeks
Its not a wagyu stake bro. It might be decent, but you're being fooled.
👀👀👀👀
Please keep telling more people that the load shedding and general poor state of thing is due to corruption. No sarcasm.
We have a 2.3 trillion rand budget every year. Government salaries are only 556 billion rand. So the remaining 1.75 TRILLION rand basically vanishes.
We could really use international help in returning us to a member in good standing with the common wealth.
So so sorry for what you all are going through..
Bragging about how cheap the prices and the local South Africans are starving!!!!
The racism? Don’t come for me , I am South African and have lived there. It’s racist.
you are so handsome
Haha I appreciate it!
i like tourist and people , but i don't know how i feel about whites especially from western countries coming to our country because we always have to think what's their real purpose of coming to our country . we don't have good record with them
That's fair. Appreciate you sharing and being honest :)
You’re being unnecessary honestly!!!! We have millions of white South Africans so what’s your point?
@@camdendavidpls ignore his comment! It doesn’t represent South Africa! He’s probably a troll.
@@tpmash you mean European South africans?
@@tpmash lol 🤣🤣 there is no troll here, I am real south african , unlike you who is a European settler.

A very long tourist-selfie! Sorry....
Thanks for the feedback Bo! Is there anything you’d like to see different in future videos?
Yup, too much of the animated facial expressions, too little footage of the location. I'm sorry as well...
