This is a great version of the classic Kentucky blues piece "Morphine." Originally recorded by "Banjo" Bill Cornett circa 1960, this early folk song was introduced to worldwide listeners by Knott County, Kentucky musician/historian George R. Gibson on his live banjo album "Last Possum Up the Tree" (June Appal Recordings, 2000).
I'm not 100% sure about this, but after listening intently, this is what I got for the lyrics: I took morphine Last Saturday night baby, Oh I took it in a hell of a way And if the doctor hadn’t come, Just as he did, baby I’d have been in my grave today Eatin’ peaches and honey Drinkin’ rye, rockin’ rye, lover, But honey, let me tell you my dream I dream I have money A whole pocket full of money, babe Won me a quarter in a big dice game When I awoke, it was all a joke, baby And I didn’t have a penny to my name I love you, baby God knows I do, now I’ll love you ‘til the sea goes dry And if I thought you didn’t love me, baby I’d take morphine and then I’d die I feel like jumpin’ I swear just like jumpin’ baby From the treetop to the ground If I ever fail my darlin’ true love I swear my lover ain’t around I love you, sugar God knows I do, baby Oh I’ll love you ‘til the sea goes dry And if I thought you didn’t love me baby I’d take morphine and then I’d die That’s why I took morphine Last Saturday night, baby Oh I took it in a hell of a way And if the doctor hadn’t come Just as he did, baby I’d have been in my grave today Such a beautiful rendition. Really hoping to catch him on his tour

When Clifton speaks..... you listen.
Ugh once in a while I remember this performance and I watch it and it's just the same as watching it the first time. So great. So. Great.
Dang magical.
Thank you so much Mr Paxton.
My culture and history. Thank you.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but after listening intently, this is what I got for the lyrics:
I took morphine
Last Saturday night baby,
Oh I took it in a hell of a way
And if the doctor hadn’t come,
Just as he did, baby
I’d have been in my grave today
Eatin’ peaches and honey
Drinkin’ rye, rockin’ rye, lover,
But honey, let me tell you my dream
I dream I have money
A whole pocket full of money, babe
Won me a quarter in a big dice game
When I awoke, it was all a joke, baby
And I didn’t have a penny to my name
I love you, baby
God knows I do, now
I’ll love you ‘til the sea goes dry
And if I thought you didn’t love me, baby
I’d take morphine and then I’d die
I feel like jumpin’
I swear just like jumpin’ baby
From the treetop to the ground
If I ever fail my darlin’ true love
I swear my lover ain’t around
I love you, sugar
God knows I do, baby
Oh I’ll love you ‘til the sea goes dry
And if I thought you didn’t love me baby
I’d take morphine and then I’d die
That’s why I took morphine
Last Saturday night, baby
Oh I took it in a hell of a way
And if the doctor hadn’t come
Just as he did, baby
I’d have been in my grave today
Such a beautiful rendition. Really hoping to catch him on his tour

Where can I find nylon banjo strings
Amazon. It looks like the ones he's using there are the aquila ones, which are on there
Anyone know the full lyrics?
I did my best to work them out, I put the lyrics I heard in a comment above!
How is this banjo tuned? I intend on playing just like him.
Standard tuning 5 steps down from G to D,
He and Rihanna Gideons should get to gether. They could clawhammer themselves in to oblivion
