Ikr same here. I just discovered it this afternoon and I've been binge watching ever since. Love his sense of humor, the editing, just everything. I wish him the best also
A lot of the things you struggled with are taught to you at the beginning of the game inside the cave of knowledge, in particular 2 handing and equipment management. I feel like a lot of people miss this though(where the first ghost is then drop down) and unless you Google 'how to' you'd just never know. I hope in future they give a comprehensive tutorial on all the basics like equipment, weapon slots, spells, and stat requirements/scaling. It would make life so much easier for newer players.
You beat Margit on your own!! I was 6 hours in when I finally beat him and I had the jellyfish and Rogier helping me. I also wasn't a souls fan prior to Elden Ring but I love Elden Ring so much. Fantastic video Jack, really love the content :))
I know this is kind of old now, Don't let anyone ever backseat game for you. Fromsoft is a great company with a great fan base, that being said the fan base can be quite toxic. Primarily when it comes to gatekeeping how to play the games. If you want to play Bloodborne fist only you play Bloodborne fist only, if you want to be a miracle build in dark souls 3 you be a miracle build, a God damn it if you want to summon help in elder ring you summon you some goddamn help.
16:11 While I agree with the room for evolution idea, I find that particular mechanic pretty solid actually. The game is forcing your character to perform an "oopsie" animation so that you are punished if you are a pot spammer or panic healer. Also gives you an extra reason to occasionally peek at your resources as you deplete them during combat - pretty neat feature overall.
Your channel feels like a fresh new enthousiatic perspective when talking about video games. As a soulsborne veteran it's also great to hear that you've clicked with the souslborne formula. I had the same experience playing bloodborne on ps4 back in 2015. I actually bounced off of it twice before it clicked and now it's in my top 3 games of all time. I'm having a blast with Elden Ring too. Kepp up the great content!
Welcome to the adrenaline rush! Love how this vid is paced, absolutely cool to see how many more people join in on Elden Ring due to its accessibility with an open world ♥️
That finale of beating Margit is the whole driving factor behind the soulsborne games. They're so good at driving you and pushing you until you finally beat it. They want you to overcome them, but they want you to know that it was a challenge. The whole game is one giant art piece and I love from soft for it every time.
This video touches on a really cool phenomenon with souls games that I haven’t heard many people talk about! There’s this weird thing that happens when you get your ass kicked and get really salty and you kind of hate the game. But the satisfaction of adapting and overcoming is so strong that the frustration kind of retroactively turns into enjoyment. Great video!
Funny that, PC gamers loved Cyberpunk 2077 by adapting and overcoming the bugs and enjoyed the storyline. But Console gamers declared it the worst game ever just because they can't adapt and overcome the bugs. Now the same console gamers declared this game as the best game ever.
No offense man, but have you played the game yourself? I don’t get how people have time to watch hours of someone else streaming a game. I work full time as an electrician and when I finally do have some free time, I stink every minute I can into playing. I’m just curious, not trying to be overly critical
I've watched the ending to this video so many times as it's so wholesome: Jack reflecting on what's to come, the Zelda music and fade tp black, it's beautiful.
Happy for you man you deserve it, great video as always! Would love to see some more of your journey through the game, I know it's not really your usual style of content but I'm sure many would agree.
regarding the combat, From games have actually have done strides. Every new installment has an addition that might seem minisqule but is actually huge. Ds2 had powerstance, BB had a more movement based approach, sekiro was all about parrying and trick weapons, ds3 added weapon arts. Elden Ring has actually added so much more, from adding jumping actions to horse combat and basically reintroducing every playstyle from previous from soft game. Like if you want you can actually build a bloodborne character or just play a similar playstyle to sekiro.

I’ve just found your channel today man, and I’m loving it. I work as a designer in the industry and the amount of genuinely good takes you have on things like design, in particular your thoughts on Red Dead 2 and Elden Ring, is really cool to see. I really felt it when you talked about beating Margit, and how Elden Ring had made you feel something so profoundly for the first time in a long time. It was exactly the same for me. And beating Margit is right up there amongst my favourite moments in a video game ever. Congrats on your new house and I wish you nothing but the best for the future man, keep on making awesome content because I’ll keep coming back 😄

What a nice experience it is for the veterans of souls games to see a newcomer enjoying the mechanics and getting into what makes these games great, it´s like seeing a small bulb blooming in your hands into a beautiful flower, getting good Now grab your rivers of blood and go make people as angry as possible in pvp, that is the core of this community, and we love it. Dude congrats on the house. I worked about 5 feet from my bed for about 6 months and went pretty nuts, so hats off to you for doing it for so long. Getting another room for work really changed things so I am super happy for ya. On another note, your videos are a breath of fresh air. Had pretty much given up on watching gaming videos until I found your RDR2 one and you keep me coming back. Keep up the good work sir.
just to let you know you missed the tutorial in the cave you start in after you die to the first boss. also the empty flask animation i think was made solely for nee players to get punished for not managing their resources properly and just mashing heal. It makes you always want to look at the flask until you remember the amount through memory. That’s just a small thing though and the rest of your criticisms were spot on. the inventory actually used to be worse in other souls games cause there was no way to filter items it’s just all the souls players are so used to it no one has complained i guess. Good video as per usual and looking forward to every future upload
I hope for more success and happiness to come your way man, glad you experienced the gift of git guddening synonymous with souls games and it being with this masterpiece.

So far the best hype video for this video game for outsiders, I hope this game is as big as Skyrim, and the gamer collective consciousness becomes even more skilled
The thought that summons means you're playing it wrong is a dated ideal. Elden ring encourages you to use every tool at your disposal to survive. You don't have to listen to dark souls elitists to enjoy the game. If they had it their way everyone would have close to the same build and all be mainly melee. Theres no fun in everyone being the same, so just have fun, and use the playstyle that best suits you.
Damn. Absolutely great review. This is only the third review I've seen that actually states some negatives. Im thankful for that, because you are absolutely right, some things are very clumsy and quite frankly stupid (did you look at key binds for mouse and keyboard? that's the dumbest thing I've seen in my life) but you are also right, over all its a great game. And this video did it justice. thanks for that! I subbed after the Ubisoft vid, I don't regret it. Keep it up!

There _is_ a tutorial that teaches the basics, BTW. It's in the area you wake up in after dying to the very first boss in the Chapel of Anticipation. And people, if you don't like the experience of bashing your head against that Margit-shaped wall, don't! There is _so_ much to see in Limgrave and the Weeping Peninusula down south. Don't rush to Stormveil Castle! Not only do you not have to, but by exploring these lands too late, you'll be far too overleveled. Also, don't worry about experiencing the game the "authentic" way. It's a game. Play however you have most fun. You can always try a more difficult style on a later playthrough.
Damn dude I was watching when you when your channel only had 20k subscribers and it's grown so quick and for good reason! Love your channel man keep it up

I've played souls games since DS1 release and I can never get enough of seeing how newer players reach to these games, lol. Takes me back. Also you fought Margitt with a +0 flask and an underleveled weapon as well as an underleveled character. You should be proud!
Love your videos man, your editing is so great. Your experience with Margit reminds me so much of my first Dark Souls playthrough, that incredible feeling of beating a though boss made me fell in love with the game (and the exploring). Also, I know it's hard to learn things in this game, like two handing weapons or in my case the Guard Counter, which rocks! But the game actually tells you all this info. It's always written in the pop up tutorials.
After watching this, I'm gathering all my bravery to dive into this game. Your elation at defeating Margit reminded me of my days playing FF8. Believe it or not, I was already on disc3 when I chose to battle Diablos. The catch? He grows more powerful as you level up. After about a hundred attempts, beating him felt like striking the jackpot in a lottery. Ah, the memories!
Got into playing challenging stuff in games after defeating the valkyries in GOW (which also took a lot of tries). Watched this vid randomly and purchased Elden Ring to try an even bigger challenge. I too got stomped on by Margit for 7 hours before I finally beat him and could understand your reaction to beating him. Love every minute of this game and the graphics are a treat for the eyes. Thanks for recommending this wonderful game!!

Hey Jack, I've been binge watching your vids last few days, and gotta say ur channel is freaking awesome. Love ur commentaries, editing style, music... hope for the best for u dude.
Ikr same here. I just discovered it this afternoon and I've been binge watching ever since. Love his sense of humor, the editing, just everything. I wish him the best also
Thank you!!
@@JackSather Did you buy the house with RUclips money?
@@MoondogGamer haha no i'm not making house money on youtube yet, it helped at the end of the process a bit though!
Thank you!!
Agree with posts below. Just found channel recently and love content, tone and relatability. Kudos from Scotland and carry on good work
you’re amazing man, your content is top quality and you deserve everything good that life’s been throwing at you!!
Thank you!!

While I agree with the room for evolution idea, I find that particular mechanic pretty solid actually.
Thanks so much!
Yo this stuff is awesome man. Happy for you
Welcome to the adrenaline rush!
I can't believe how many people missed the tutorial sign that literally reads "the cave of knowledge", it explains all the controls
I loved watching this all unfold live on stream with the struggle to defeat Margit, as well as loving this video
FTMN YES. Glad to hear :) i’ll be back to streaming very soon
No offense man, but have you played the game yourself? I don’t get how people have time to watch hours of someone else streaming a game. I work full time as an electrician and when I finally do have some free time, I stink every minute I can into playing. I’m just curious, not trying to be overly critical
@@Chalaxandler nah, i haven't played it myself
I have to say, that your style of telling us about games is just perfect! Keep it up!
Thanks
Jack - "I'm really excited."
Me - "Me too."
Another great video Jack, congrats on 130K and the new house! Really looking forward to watching your channel grow.
Thank you!!
Haven’t even watched it yet but I know it’ll be great Jack.
16:11 No, absolutely do *NOT* remove this. It’s a proper punishment for players not paying attention
Hell yeah, another Jack video!!!! Awesome work every time, looking forward to watching!
Thanks!!
Man, I am so glad I discovered your channel some time ago. Thank you for constantly putting a smile on my face every time I watch one of your videos.
The gerudo Valley song is one of my favorite of any game music 😇 Well, maybe from that era of n64 console being new and relevant. Also, love alot of the sound bites you use, and mainly the commentary of your experiences in your content. Truly entertaining and enjoyable to hear someone passionate about the same things I am also passionate about too. I'm sure alot of the subs can agree 🤝
Tyty!!
I look forward to videos that take more than a day or two to pump out.
These videos are always fun and interesting! Thank you for the amazing content!
my most sincere congratulations to you bro, your videos are truly fantastic and you should be proud of the content you are producing. here's to many more videos!
Aye dood big congrats on all the huge achievements. (Specifically talking about defeating Margit lol). You continuously 1 up your previous videos and your editing is so freaking good. You 100% nailed everything I think and feel about this game, and I don't think I've enjoyed any single-player game more than this. The sheer satisfaction/euphoria of defeating the toughest bosses in this game is what video games are all about. Keep up the solid work, brother!
Thanks Chris!! Appreciate the kind words!
Congrats on your new house and I wish you nothing but the best for the future man, keep on making awesome content because I’ll keep coming back 😄
Thanks dude!! Very much appreciate that
As a long times souls fan, you captured what makes these games amazing. Great video. 🙂
High praise!! Thank you!
Don’t understand how your channel only has 140k, content is so quality pacing is amazing and videos are funny, love the channel bro
I am a new subscriber from your ubisoft video and I watched almost all.of your old videos. I gotta say I like you style of content and reviews. I was not expecting you'd play elden ring honestly but I am pleased to see it. I've been playing the souls games for 8 years almost and seeing someone new play, its funny but I also cheer you on as you finally triumph every hurdle. Great video man. Keep up the great work. And your growth as a youtuber motivates me to work on my own video ideas. I'm happy for you
EDIT:also AMAZING use of the avatar fight music. Love that touch
Haha finally someone mentions the avatar music! Thank you!
What a nice experience it is for the veterans of souls games to see a newcomer enjoying the mechanics and getting into what makes these games great, it´s like seeing a small bulb blooming in your hands into a beautiful flower, getting good
Now grab your rivers of blood and go make people as angry as possible in pvp, that is the core of this community, and we love it.
Nice videos, keep up the good work
Honestly my favorite reviewer right up there with General Sam. Your success is very well deserved Jack!
Love sam! Thank you!
"That guy used to be a problem for me" is one of the best feelings in a FromSoft game. Great work as always--congrats on the move!
Man, watching you killing Margit was so good. Please, record when you accomplish more great battles like that
Dude congrats on the house.
19:54 perfectly sums up what makes elden ring and other souls like games so special
I hope for more success and happiness to come your way man, glad you experienced the gift of git guddening synonymous with souls games and it being with this masterpiece.
Thank you haha
Congrats on the house and 100k subscribers! We all looking forward to watching this channel BLOW UP!!!
Thanks Connor!!
Congrats on the house jack ! Can’t wait to see more content and where the journey takes ya
happy for you man! enjoying the videos!!
this was a really well made video, very nice to watch! naturally liked and subbed.
Yusss thanks dood
I love how most reviews I watch talk about it not telling you how to do things... because non of them did the tutorial.
we value quality over quantity, so i don’t mind waiting 2 weeks or longer for a fantastic video from you. congratulations on your house!
Thank you!! Working hard to get the vids out quicker 🙏🏻
Man man man you’re my new favourite youtuber by far. I never turn on notifications for them but you’re the first that made me want to turn them on. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you!! haha I appreciate it a lot
So far the best hype video for this video game for outsiders, I hope this game is as big as Skyrim, and the gamer collective consciousness becomes even more skilled
The subtle "Don't Look Back In Anger" edit at 8:27 is so well done
The empty potion animation is there literally to get you killed for potion spamming or not paying enough attention lol
Hope you're move went well, you keep knocking those videos out, with all the space you have!
Agreed!
I'm amazed by the quality of this video. I just watched your Witcher video, and I was impressed.
Keep it up!
Thank you!! And ya it’s like, a great game, but it’s not “clunkless”
Congrats on 100k! holy shit almost halfway to 200k and you deserve it! Fucking loved the video man, finally got around to being able to sit down and watch all the way through. I fully delved into playing Elden ring myself over the last 2 weeks and haven't felt this feeling while playing a game in a really long time, Hoping to see you come back to streaming soon when you get settled in your new place, your streams were a great time. Keep it up man you got great things ahead for you!
Thanks so much dude!!
You're my favorite content creator at the moment and you HEAVILY deserve all the support and love you are getting. Keep it up, Jack❤
Also congrats on the house, that ending got me emotional as well
After following legendofTotalwar here, and really having fun, Jack and his wonderful reviews, even made me install twich to see more of his videos!
His simple and exciting content is really enjoyable to watch ... Go on man!
So glad I stumbled upon this channel. I binged almost every video in the last few days and now I feel like a broke drug addict who just killed his entire supply for the month... or something. Keep it up.
Hahah it’ll be a shorter wait this time, THANK YOU!
Thank you for taking time to make high quality vids bro🔥
The funny editing, the good gameplay, the sincere moments, such a great video.
i’ll admit your red dead video was the first one i saw but since then i’ve watched all of your catalog of videos and i fail to understand how you aren’t at 1 mill already. your time is coming! i look forward to any and all content you put out keep up the amazing work
Thank you!!! It’ll come!
This channel is the definition of quality>quantity. Your content is so good. It makes sense why it takes u so long. U deserve way more attention Jack
Thanks Brendan!! Another vid is in the works :)
@@JackSather u should review GOW Ragnarok
oh man, i just found your channel today, watched a bunch of them, loved them all. And now on this one you announced you bought a house!! is like watching the first season of a Saga. i will definitely click the bell for notification.
Could you make a video covering Ghost of Tsushima?
What's there to talk about though.
Would love to one day! Maybe when it comes to PC, the video list is long atm 😅
Love your channel man keep it up
Loving the pure honesty in this video! Awesome review.
Thank you!!
Great review. Helped me a lot.
Thank you very much 👌
Magical eyes, by the way ☺️
i love the way you zoom in zoom out during the video it really kept me finding this fun to watch
You are so worth the success. You are by far my most favorite gaming RUclipsr. Keep it up!
I make a point to recommend you to every one of my friends and co workers, just straight up enjoyable, genuine and insightful content. Hats off to you Jack
I know 131k subs is a huge accomplishment, but... your account is going to blow up pretty soon man. Be ready! Great A+ videos.
I just only now found you YT channel. But I have now watched all your videos, and I will keep an eye out for any new one coming. Great job Jack top quality content.
