It is his real voice. If you find a live concert for Slaughter you'll see that he will, at some point, put his finger up to his mouth to quiet the crowd so he can scream without the mic.
i think he might mean the layering of vocals, that does definitely make it sound cooler but layering isnt the same as "faking" or whatever lol
