    German says during the 1980s that The Stones were an accessible New York City band, and this is exemplified by the video they did for their 1981 song "Waiting on a Friend." The video has Mick and Keith sitting on the doorsteps of apartment buildings in the city, walking down the city sidewalks and eventually ending up in some dive bar to drink with Bill, Ronny, and Charlie.

    How come I've never seen this before....I Loved Bill's book. As an initial subscriber from 1983, I had to read this the week it came out! I The Stones impressions are spot on! I wonder if he picked this shirt because Keith had a near identical he was photographed in a few times.

    "Crossfire hurricane" is, I believe, a reference to the fact that 4 of the 5 original members of The Stones were born while WWll was raging. Also, Mr. German, Keith has stated on record that the title of their album "Aftermath" was a direct reference to the postwar environment in which The Stones grew up. "We were the generation that was allowed to live," said Keith.

    38:00 🤣 yep, that was Wyman’s reputation. German’s imitation is spot on as well.

    'well, mr. german. if you ever happen upon this old video of your's again, we'll have to agree that this went off a tad better than that learning annex affair, now won't we? forever in your debt for the programmes though, mate!'

    I have a get a copy of bills book. what a lucky man. in his pre adult good. gets to hang out with the stones. as a true dam also. at a time when they embarked on their famous 1981 tour..onto the almost breakup period of the 80s. in a way. I think it best suited bill because. he got the group one on one so to say. they didn't your the whole decade.so he could just hang out n experience the real stones..

      That made no sense, what did politics have to do with preferring one band over another?

    • @jimdiskin3760
      @jimdiskin3760 3 года назад +2

      @@389383 i agree w you i didn't see any politics. but what she said didn't make any sense, to me any way. 'for 20 or so years the stones were pretty much a backdrop to my life ... but oh, i actually like the Who better ...' no one's gonna have a problem w her preferring another band. but it sounds more like a muzak at denny's experience w the boys rather than a true 'backdrop to my life' ... she was probably winging it a bit, but why in hell bother to tell an audience you like another group better right before an author makes a detailed presentation about what everyone was there to see?
      'i'm here to present a grammy to the hollies, but let me tell you - i actually prefer the mamas and the papas ..' cool lady, thanks for that pointless tidbit!

    The book sucks. Why does anybody think the Rolling Stones gave this guy access? They don't do anything unless there is huge advantage to the Rolling Stones.

      hopefully you've become a bit happier of a person over the last year? curious use of your time to crap all over something you clearly had no interest in up front. most folks would just move on... i'm just fascinated. do you mind if i ask you how much of this video you actually watched? we should assume you actually read the sucky book as well?
      i suppose you thought this well reasoned critique you've blessed us with would prove persuasive to the audience for which this video exists? interesting reasoning on your part if so.
      more likely you're just an unhappy troll? radiating out the filth that overflows your cesspool of a soul? rather self-indulgent of you. but hey, no surprise there. it's all about you and your low self esteem issues from your vantage point, clearly. are you an asshole irl as well, or do you just play one online?
