Totally caught the train on this one!! Little by little your lessons are sinking in, and it fedls great!!!..seriously...thankyou for the time you put in...your family is still in my prayers!!
Good lesson. It's easier to visualize scales "modes" on a keyboard, as in just the white notes in the key of C major if you start on C. Just the white notes in A natural minor starting on A also known as Aeolian mode. Just the white notes starting on g makes G mixolydian.
I already knew about caged and used that System alot in my improvments but still learned it from that way felt somehow new! I always learn from your videos thanks! (Yet I cant really afgord the premium 😞😓but I Profit from those alot too)
Quick question: did I understand it correctly when you said that the A Mixolydian scale is the D major scale played over the key of A? If so, is that true of all 5 major positions? Also, would that mean that playing the major scale of the 4th in the 1 key (Playing the G major scale over the key of D, for example) is playing the Mixolydian Mode ? Modes have always driven me crazy but, I know my major scales in all of the keys in all of the positions. If all I have to think is, I'm in A, so to play Mixolydian I just need to play the D major scale in this position... or, I'm in the key of G so, I just need to play the C major scale in this position, well, that makes things a whole lot easier for me to comprehend... that Mode, at least. Do the other modes work in that way, I wonder? I'll have to watch Brian's videos on the modes and see what he has to say.
Question, when you play the a shape using two notes, are you still playing the root note? Do I need to play it or does it not matter? I'm just curious and I love your lessons by the way
You can answer that question for yourself if you look at the three shapes Brian plays in this video. Which notes is he playing when he is playing the "A-shape"?
When he plays the a shape at 5:35 which is a d chord (more specifically a triad, thd root (d) is on the third string 7th fret so he is not playing the root in that instance.
It only happens for this lesson, no other lessons. It only shows the box where you type in letters to see if you’re human. Even typing the correct letters still nothing but the strange thing is, I can see part two of the lesson
There's no catches with Brian. He delivers more content here for free than you could learn in hours of paid lessons and then if you want the whole deal with all the bells and whistles (and some of them are very helpful) then you pay the very modest subscription rate. A years worth of constant content for the price of a meal out for two at a chain restaurant. I've been a premium subscriber of Brian's for a few years and my only regret is that I haven't take advantage of more of the wisdom and chops he offers.
By far the best youtuber on music lessons....in one word: SUPERB
this is absolutely one of the most useful and musical lessons I've come across in a while. not just a hot lick to learn!
once again fabulous Brian, but at 72 my eye always drawn to the LP's.what a collection❤
I like the reinforcement of previous lessons' concepts. I find that new ways to approach them is always beneficial. As usual, Thanks.
You are the best, Brian!
I'm always amazed how you can come up with endless ideas out of the same chords and progressions, Brian - and turn them into gem-rich lessons! 💪♪💕
Isn't that what pop music is?
It’s kind of the same thing over and over after awhile thoigh, there’s maybe ten concepts that all these lessons revolve around
@@ShinyFlakesShinyFlakes There's only so much you can do with 12 notes.

This video is unique practice for becoming a good note selector and string picker.
Beautiful melody!
I absolutely love this lesson !!! I could say that about all of them though.
Great lesson! Refreshing stuff I'd already learned but needed to update. Thanks.
An amazing sounding guitar in gifted hands
Kerpow!!!! Thanks so much Brian...
This is the stuff I wish someone showed me a lot sooner
Hi Brian. Awesome guitar, Martin 00-18 I guess. Did you post a video telling the story behind it ??? Congrats for all your lessons. Thanks a lot !!!
Very cool 😎. Guitar really is just shapes playing after each other in many cases
Nicely done! Thanks Brian.
Another great lesson... thanks!!!

Beautiful ❤💐👍
Great lesson. Would it make sense to do a followup lesson using strings 1&3? This lesson has helped me learn the fretboard notes.
Great information
It's very much difficult to undestand english speech but info is very useful and interesting. Thanks a lot for your advises
My little brain hurts... Thank you. Lovely n simple when you know how to chord embellishments with easy to follow teaching
About those album's, how many are there, did you count them and what are there origins?.
If Brian was my dad, I would be his son
Good point
I bet

Just a quick sanity check, the interval he's playing over the E shape is actually a harmonized 5th (not 6th), right?
How are you picking the strings please?
trying to watch this on your website and I am a member and after logging in still can’t watch this

I don't think it matters. Try it both ways. What ever sounds better to you.

Brian what gauge strings do you use on your acoustic and electric guitar’s?
12 gauge on acoustic and 10 on electric
10s even on the archtops?@@activemelody
Hot stuff🤠

You are getting a lot of information free and these teachers should be paid for their time and effort, just sayin 😮
