Watching EVA since I was a kid and then finally watching this and Gunbuster in the last year. It’s amazing to watch where all the ideas for EVA originated.
One of the best series from the 1990s but when I tried to download it to my Facebook wall yesterday, it was taken down claiming to be against their community standards.

This has so many elements that would feature later in Neon Genesis Evangelion like Adam, the Giant Human; humanity being created by aliens; plugsuits; giant escalators and more
It *was* intended to be a direct continuation. Red Noah crash lands, multiple giant Adams awaken and escape. Somehow they nearly destroy the world or vaporise the oceans or something like that==2nd impact. Kids fight them and save the world from 3rd Impact. All 20+ episodes were fully written. Unfortunately/thankfully Gainax didn't have the rights to Nadia right at that point in time so they were rewritten.
I just finished up this series for the first time the other night and except for the horrible island arc this show was amazing. You can see all the seeds of Evangelion in this series, especially this episode. The theme for New Nautilus was used in the launch sequence of the Wunder in Evangelion 3.33 as well.

Coming from Evangelion to this show awhile back, it was fantastic to see the evolution of Anno, Sadamoto, and Sagisu's work. The parallels in the story, dialog, style, and music are so intriguing. I especially like the more direct callbacks in Anno's rebuild of Evangelion, where Sagisu reused his music from Secret of Blue Water for the AAA Wunder. I really need to take a look at Gunbuster to see what other elements they created there to use for Evangelion.

If you ever noticed how the New Nautilus looks just like the Yamato? Red Hull, Bulbous Bow, the Imperial Crest, and her main armament in a 2 forward and 1 aft, and the Nautilus’ Main Reactor is just like the one that was given to the people of Earth?
The sound effects were taken from Yamato. The intial boarding scene where the elevator is at a steep angle is a shot for shot recreation of Yamato. It was all an intentional homage to a beloved series.
I always felt like Neo deserved more development than what he had. It is kinda frustrating, especially considering all the time that was wasted in the Island/African arc.
I think Neo Atlantis got as much focus as they needed. The idea the movie had with humanity reusing their technology was more interesting to me, but that movie is pretty messy.
Nah, people need to do a reanimated collab of the movie for fun. Think about it: You get to see people reinteperet specific scenes from Nadia in the first 20-30 minutes, and then you get to see the film with, in the best case scenario, better and more passionate animation (and maybe better SFX).
So the progenitor of intelligent life om earth descended 2 million years ago from far away star systems now it make sense why we had numerous ancient megastructures all around the world

The first time the New Nautilus lauched in the air! I still remember getting the chills watching this on TV on a Friday afternoon when I was young . After watching the One Piece live action from Netflix, I wonder... Can they make this into a cool live action series?
@@triplehate6759 Oh yeah, the movie was absolutely unnecessary. I will say it is marginally (note; MARGINALLY) better than the Africa arc (which, to me, is the lowest point of the show), but that's not saying much. It's still every bit as bad as the island episodes and honestly has no reason to exist. Like any of the fillers. I will say though that I was quite impressed that the ADV dub cast was consistent throughout the show. The movie may have been horribly flawed, but the dub, oddly enough, is one of its saving graces. It maintains the same excellence from the show's dub.
The reason why Jean has a French accent is because the show does not primarily set in France, but rather, features characters around the world with different nations. Based on that, what do you do? Do you leave the character without an accent to the point where it is hard to believe that he is French, or do you take a chance and try to have him with an accent. Now you can argue that the actor has trouble nailing it at the beginning, but he was only 12 years old at the time, and honestly, while he was shaky about it at the start, I felt he really improved more and more, and other than that I had no issues with his turn as Jean.

Most of the characters sound pretty good to me. Gargoyle, Jean, Nemo, Grandis, etc. Nadia's voice is kind of grating, which is fitting I guess.
