Brilliant thanks. I have the Ultimate 18, $350 for the replacement plate, but they have the dimensions online which is nice of them . You've inspired me to have a go, I've got some 10mm plate lying around, so should last forever.
Good Job mate, I've just been doing some maintenance on our heater today, new bricks and some panel beating on the baffle plates. I'll get some plate from work this week for a new one, I'll probably get 10 or 12mm so it lasts longer, its only 3 years old. It also has vent tubes running across under the baffle that have been replaced once but they've sagged again, I'll grab some heavier wall pipe and whip up some replacements .
@aussiedadlife ok. Mine doesn't have any of those things either, so I want to make one. Should I use stainless steel or cast iron? Is the plate to lower the air suction?
I’ve got the same wood fire, mine warped like crazy. I need to do the same. I always thought the baffle plate lip was meant to be facing upwards? Not down…?
Pretty sure it's down as it needs to hook onto the tabs inside the fireplace otherwise the baffle would fall down if you bumped it accidentally. Tabs down lock it into place
I have the same heater and my front lip was always up (there's a gag there somewhere). The plate can't go any further back into the fire box, so having the lip down makes no difference in securing the plate. Mine warped too, this video is the perfect inspiration to get busy.

super handy if you can get it at work on the cheap!!!
What is the purpose of a baffle plate and do all wood burners have them
@@Billy_Bull_Sheeter most good quality fires have them, stops the flue from being burned out and allows for a slower burn
@aussiedadlife thanks. can you make them from vermiculite /fire brick or does it have to be metal
@@Billy_Bull_Sheeter needs to be metal in this type of fireplace, mine has no fire briks at the top, only side and bottoms.

@Billy_Bull_Sheeter if yours doesn't have it them it's probably for a reason. I would do a google search on the make and model to confirm
Well done mate, just got quoted $400 for a baffle plate for my ultimate 24 heater 👍
Crazy money for something you can do yourself in under an hour!
Nice one mate
