@@josephschmizzo1595 I add Bird to that mix. I’m old enough to remember seeing games in the late 80’s before he broke down and became a shell of himself in 90/91 and 91/92. He was something special to watch and I would actually put him easily into the GOAT conversation with MJ if his defence was better. Still, I easily put him with Kobe. To me Lebron is just a good player that is taking advantage of rules that did no exist during MJ’s or most of Kobe’s career, a lot of media hype and a physically soft era of basketball.

MJ was supremely confident in his athletic abilities, fundamentals, creativity, and skills to the point where he could go up to anyone in the NBA and tell them "lace 'em up, it's going to be a long night!", and then crush the other team for as many points, blocks, steals, assists, and rebounds he could get!! Your take on MJ hanging in the air for so long is due to his vertical leaping. Dude had a 48 inch vertical. So while they go up at the same time, the other guy is coming down, but MJ is still slightly going up which allows him to stay in the air longer. Just basic physics. But still impressive.

Great reaction youngster. My favorite is the one in Utah when he dunked on that behemoth Jazz center and then asked the fan "was he big enough?" If that was Bron he would have made sure the guy was thrown out the arena. And you're 100% right about Kobe's maniacal mentality. He did want to "be like Mike." Two beasts in men.

That’s why MJ will always be the GOAT. I’m 46 years old and I was lucky enough to see MJ play live a few times. I seen him twice when the Bulls beat the Suns in the 1993 Finals. My father’s company had a skybox at America West arena and we were lucky enough to watch two of the finals games in Phoenix. I also seen Kobe play live a few times in Los Angeles and I also seen LeBron play a couple times live. But MJ was just something different. He will always be the GOAT.
