Appreciate your video! There is a problem with lookup in that it requires manually selecting the lookup item from the main list, so this is best suited for use cases where the lookup item is not a long list else is hassle need manually look for item. I would recommend automate add or update the item for specific columns is better.

That’s true, the selection process would be cumbersome if there were too many items in the lookup list. This can easily be rectified by customising the list’s form through Power Apps and adding a search text box alongside the lookup column; or, better still, bringing both lists into a single app/form, so no selection is required at all, and the items are “connected” automatically when submitting.

Spretty good, I'm glad to see there are new videos coming up about SharePoint. I'm just starting to learn but it seems that the little tricks like activating these packages are what matter the most

Oscar Ribeiro Thanks for the feedback. That’s exactly what we’re going for with most of our videos - tips and tricks that you’re unlikely to find elsewhere, which come from many years of real-life experience!

great info, can we apply sharepoint server publishing infrastructure for a communication site as well?

Unfortunately you can’t activate the SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature within a Communication Site, however audience targeting is now available for use with links on the Hub Site navigation and Current Navigation (the horizontal nav normally found just to the right of the site title), albeit only for M365 Groups and AD Security Groups, not SharePoint Permissions Groups.

Hi, it was informative, what about if someone has the link of the list copied and they put it in the browser. would that open the hidden list? Also advise if there is a way to hide a saved list from a user when he/she has access to the default list of that section.

If a user has no permissions to the list, there is absolutely no way for them to access it, whether that’s via a link or search.
I don’t quite understand your 2nd question. Please could you elaborate?

The first thing to try is changing the permission level of the Site Members group from Edit to Contribute (this is explained in another of our recent videos). This will certainly stop those users from adding columns, or making other changes to the settings of the site’s lists and libraries.

Hello! Thanks for this useful tip. I have a question. Could you tell me if an user updates a list, the other linked list will update too? I want to achieve the same as you showed in this tutorial, but the actual list that I'm working in will be updated by some users with a given permission. Hope you can understand my question. Thanks in advanced and thanks again for you useful content.

Thank you for your comment, we’re glad to hear you found the video useful.
I’m not sure I fully understand your question I’m afraid, however hopefully the answer below will be appropriate:
If a user updates a record within the lookup list, and record in the other list which references that lookup will reflect those changes in any other columns being brought over by the lookup. As long as the user making the updates has at least edit/contribute permissions to the lookup list, this will work fine.
Please let us know if this doesn’t answer your question and we’ll try again!
